[SPOILER]The Acquiline Empire - GE's ode to "The Eagles"

Nicolae Carpathia Wrote:I was going to push to settle north instead of west, but if we know of a chokepoint that can be defended by copper, may as well take it. Besides, the choke is closer to us than dazed.

Usually best to revolt to slavery after your first settler gets finished.

So, we revolt to Slavery on turn 26. Settle on the Rice [as T-hawk suggests] having hooked up the Copper en-route so we can spam out Phalanx to hold off, then attack, Dazed. After the capital's Granary, could build a 2nd Settler and 3rd, Commerce, city could go up on the Flood-Plains.

No need to attack Dazed, just hold him off so we can develop our backlines safely.

OK .. but if he kills Kenny ...

Anyway, turn in:

Turn 17 - 2890BC

As Dazed's defending warrior moved aggressively towards him, have moved PaulH southwards to harass his Worker [farming the Rice] instead.

KennyS dragged himself away from the Copper to move 1W - no sign of the Warrior I thought was heading this way. Have dotted for Selhurst Park on the Rice.

And Vince Hilaire completed @ EOT - I feel a bit safer knowing I'm no longer bottom on the Soldier score:

While we have some down-time waiting for the next save, thought I'd share my Road plans:

SteveC will have finished the Farm before The Wheel completes @ EOT 20 [I est. turn 18] so I plan to put him onto the Plains Hill to Mine/Chop. We can always queue up a 3rd Warrior [or Scout] to take us to the end of Pottery. The Worker/Wheel completion on the same turn means that MalcolmA can start the Roading process to first the Copper & then onto the 2nd city site. SteveC can use the Road to move to & Mine the Copper @ turn 25, MalcolmA can join him after the initial road-network is complete. KennyS will hook up with the Settler for the founding of Selhurst Park.

Turn 18 - 2920BC

Vince Hilaire built & fortified!

KennyS arrived at the vantage point over-looking the dry Rice & fortified!

Dammit!! Another Warrior in Mecca [PaulH? Run away!!] which has grown to size 3. PaulH will try to get top the Plains Hill to stop him working it ... bugger! That other Warrior is back! Or is it another? At least PaulH is 2 tiles away from both of them.

I'm confused:

I'm ahead on Power .. WTF?!? So how many Warriors has Dazed got?

Celiazul whipped back to size 2 last turn, hence his drop in score 7 there being only one size 3 city:

And some of these demos are annoying me now, who the hell is out-teching me with a smaller city?

Checked figures this turn & noticed a little discrepancy in the micro - however the planned Mine/Chop of the Plains Hill corrects this:

Turn 18 - Worker 13/40 - F*+D*+R*+L - Wheel 30/56
Turn 19 - Worker 26/40 - F*+D*+R*+L - Wheel 45/56
Turn 20 - Worker 39/40 - F*+D*+R*+L - Wheel 56/56 [4 over]
Turn 21 - Worker 40/40 [12 over] - F*+D*+R*+L - Pottery 19/76
Turn 22 - Settler 25/65 - F*+D*+R*+L - Pottery 34/76
Turn 23 - Settler 38/65 - F*+D*+R*+L - Pottery 49/76
Turn 24 - Settler 64/65 - F*+D*+R*+L - Pottery 64/76 [*chop]
Turn 25 - Settler 65/65 [12 over] - F*+D*+R*+L - Pottery 76/76 [3 over]
Turn 26 - Granary 12/?? or Warrior 10/10 or Phalanx 12/??

Turn 19 - 2860BC

SteveC moved onto Plains Hill ready to Mine/Chop.

Looking at it, moving PaulH onto Dazed's Plains Hill may not be a good idea - he could get cornered. I've got a better idea, I'm sending him down to Kyan's lands - then he can head in a anti-clock direction to see if he can find the other neighbours.

Queued up a place-holder Warrior after the Settler - wow, those Phalanx are cheap Axes [only 23H], the overflow from the Settler would half build one! [that's assuming that the Copper is hooked up by turn 25]

Main movement in score; Kyan did the growth/tech double and gained 12 points - Orgrimmar is size 3 ... wait ... Orgrimmar? Didn't pick up on his Leader name [The Warchief of The Horde] earlier, he's a fellow WoW player - good to know, now what do I cheekily rename PaulH temporarily to ensure he's not killed ... ummm; "Lok'tar" perhaps? rolf

Turn 20 - 2800BC

The Wheel completed @ EOT, so that's another 6 points bagged ...

Erm ... what? yikes

Hang on ... there's been a reconfiguration of scores ... I swear we were all in the 60s [late 50s @ worst] last turn. But now I'm leading with 91 points [jive] ... er ... why? Is this normal? See the Score graphs, no change in either my, or Dazed's, score over the last 2 turns:

You get points for owning land (but only when you've owned them for 20 turns).

Turn 21 - 2740BC

Eep!! There's one of Dazed's Warriors following PaulH on his journey South ... better move on ASAP! Have renamed him PaulH "Throm'Ka" which is the WoW Orcish for "Well met" and hopefully Kyan will also take that as "please don't kill me" too rolf

Another of Dazed's Warriors has made it to the choke-point ... finally! If he moves onto the Rice I will have to seriously consider attacking with KennyS, even though the odds will be 50-50!

Pottery completes in 3 turns [turn 23?] so have queued up Mysticism -> Polytheism* -> Masonry -> Monotheism to follow. May wait until OR is available before revolting to Slavery too. I'm not a geat fan of the whip, preferring to chop [not really a fan of OR IRL, but in this game it works]

*someone's bound to nab The Buddha, so I'll settle for Ganesh & Vishnu instead. Should we manage to get this in first, I may try for The Oracle [for free MC, all pre-reqs will be in place] by teching Priesthood before Masonry.

MalcolmA completed @EOT, will start his Roading scheme to KennyS & the Copper.
