[SPOILERS] - tales of Brennus, famous Chinese warlord

True. I hope our Scout will live to see what's there!

We finished researching Wheel (and already have our first road - it'll help first move of Scout without making tile upgrade worked later). Now we research BW - with 30% bonus. As 20% is automatic (single arrow), that means only 1 other civ knows Bronze Working yet?

Also, Beijing starts to accumulate food reserves (and Bird's Nest (Celtic capital) is already size 3!) - growth in 4 turns. Then either start Settler or grow once more, to size 3 (I don't know how long it'll take, but it'll give some hammers and a lot of beakers (if Furs are worked), so maybe it's better approach if possible in another 4-5 turns). In the meanwhile the plan is to build Scout (2 turns) - and then probably begin Barracks. Another Scout is an option, but I'd prefer to start Barracks instead because Scout is very vulnerable (to any threat, basically) and right after Settler I plan to make at least one Chariot which may be used for scouting - and for which any Barbarians will be experience source, not serious threat. If Beijing is to grow before Settler - maybe even Barracks will be finished.

Worker priorities: Wheat, and then Furs (with road to first! - it'll be a bit quicker overall and we don't need Furs right now).

Robert Tye is moving again at 2.9 Strength (not found anything very useful yet).

Mongolian borders found by Robert Tye. No time for full report now - content will appear on Tuesday.

Serdoa saw our scouting Archer, screens with Warrior. Judging by borders seen - has 2 cities. May have trained Archer nearby! Scout went South, has choice to look in general direction SSE (below Horses) or WSW (near Gold).

Robert Tye - I think it's time to go back, to be ready to be on chosen city site before the settler.

Not much happened during my turns, just moved units around

Last turn Beijing grew to 3, I switched to Settler and moved a Worker onto a forest to chop. Also found AT's borders

At EOT, BW came in, and we have copper in Beijing's BFC

Still don't see a second city spot tbh

Next turn stop spending EPs on Serdoa, we already have his graphs and are ahead of him in EPs, need to get other graphs

Thanks for playing! Now I'm back, hopefully tomorrow morning I'll receive next turn - it seems there were quite a lot of them! smile

Had another look at the save, and I think the best production spot is in the east, 1SW of the fish/1SE of the rice. It has 5 hills and plenty of food, and I don't see any other location with 5 hills in the BFC

If we're going for an early religion, take care to finish the religion tech after the 2nd city is founded. This way the 2nd city becomes holy, and gets a ton of culture for free

For the 3rd city there's a spot with awesome commerce 2S1W of the gold: it has gold, gems and 2 spices in the BFC. Unfortunately it's food poor (only sugar and two farmable grassland) and jungled, so in any case we won't found it until IW. And a bit too close to AT for my liking. So it's not a definite city, just something to consider

Turn played!
Territories scouted, available for settling:
NE of Beijing:

SE of Beijing:

W of Beijing (Celtic Pride lands):

Also, took espionage away from Serdoa for a few turns, as per Your suggestion. Scout moved into Celtic Pride territory - they scout with archers and defend capital with a Warrior! Still, that's not something a Scout could take advantage of. But maybe blocking a mine will cost him a hammer or two wink .

Settling: choosing city site is of prime importance now. And it can't be too far (to be defendable), so any unexplored lands aren't so tempting anyway. I don't see any great site, but Copper near Beijing and Horses a bit further mean strategic resource capture is not of prime importance.
Options I see (not in any particular order):
1) NE of AT's Horses. Captures opponent's Horses, has some hills and a lot of food. It's ultra-aggessive plant, though: would invite quick and powerful counterattack while not being defensible (too far away from capital). I'd like something a bit more defensive wink.
2) Your 1SW of the fish/1SE of the rice. Indeed there are 5 hills, also Fish, Rice and flood plains. Advantages: 5 hills. Disadvantages: most other sites have far more food.
3) SSE of our Horses. Horses and 3 Hills are as good as 4 Hills for me, so that's only 1 Hill less. And there is far better food: Corn, Pigs and Wheat. Compared to my previous proposal of SE of Horses it loses Deer, is not located on a hill and has a desert in BFC, but gains half a hill (no longer shares with capital) and 3 unseen tiles to S - one of which, by tile bleed, should be a hill (making it 4 hills+Horses). It is my current favourite. Next turn Morihei Ueshiba will go there, trying to scout those unseen tiles before planting (Robert Tye will be close enough to Beijing to take over garrison duty).

Advantages: commerce sources! (which we lack), protection for Copper. Disadvantages: lack of food, lack of hammers. Iron location will decide (if far from existing cities). If Iron is close to one of our first 2 cities - we'll return to thinking smile.

That's the plan smile, though I don't plan to delay tech for it. Settler should be finished soon enough.

Tech plan: next most important thing after religion is 3rd city. So next tech will be Iron Working! I considered detour to Pottery, but I think it's not as important, and adds 4 turns to research. It's next in line, though.
