[SPOILERS] AT: Tonight in Vultureland... Louis of Sumeria

ok - I need a plan!!

I am messing around, thinking about monotheism, etc... bad plan.

I need math, currency and then literature, trying to build the GLib. I need to keep expanding. I'm going to get masonry->math. Currency is probably after that, or maybe construction, depending on how vulnerable I feel. I'm currently #1 in soldiers, which is good, cause it's time to plop down a couple more cities wink I'm also making a zig in VultureRoad, because it's time.

ok - building up some cash for a run on math. And, of course, we are founding another city, so that requires some cash deposits, too. And I'm gonna build some libraries, too.

But, mainly, run on math->currency. I don't think I'm first to 3 cities - I think pindicator beat me, though I'm not sure.

turn 46:

So, I'm about to produce a settler, then it's 3 turns to a lib in the cap. Maybe faster, i'm not sure.

The settler goes to here:

In 34g, this served as my military city. It will not in 34s - this will be a place to build wonders and get GP. It's defendable, has good hammers and great food.

Vultureland:

Produce a settler this turn. Note that I have a 40% chance of a an engineer. That's an excellent thing and, hopefully, I shall get that engineer - i'll be ok with a prophet, but an an engineer would be great - that would mean pyramids. And make me a target, but i can survive that.

3 turns to a lib after the settler is nice. Might go slower, though, if I switch the cap to high food tiles.

VultureRoad:

You can see the insane costs. I may end up whipping in the ziggurat, cause my costs will just go up with my 3rd city, coming soon. Dialing up an archer next - this is currently my main military city. Archers are nice, cheap ways to keep phalanxes, etc, from the high ground. Or at least contest it. Also, they are cheap ways to hurt the opposition...

Demos:

Two things to note - I'm leading in GNP at 0% science. A lot of that is culture from Oracle, though not all. I'm sure there are libraries up by now...

Commodore's soldier count has gone up and he is now the most powerful civ in the game. I dunno that he's coming after me - if he is, he won't like the results - but he does seem to be building mil.

Scooter is taking a serious chance here, and I don't know why:

He is settling toward the fish lake, which isn't a huge deal - it's a good site, though it looks to me like he's going the long way, so it'll be more expensive to him. Looks like a target to me and my (currently non-existent) catapults.

But, the big thing is... that settler has no escort. On raging barbs, no less. Unlees there are forces I don't see, he's taking a big risk. probably nothing bad will happen, of course - but it seems so unnecessary.

I've been thinking - industrious actually doesn't synergize all that well with creative, or really with anything that has lots of cheap buildings early - maybe expansive.

I mean - I put down a city and after my granary - is it library? is it forge? Could be either, really. forges make everything faster.

Also, creative means not building a wonder... but industrious means "build wonders!!"

well, I'm not complaining about my choice... just is interesting...

Oh, should pop a lib in their either before or after the ziggurat.

Here's an odd decision by scooter:

Settling 1 tile off the water. I guess he's trying to take the ivory? Why would he give up access to the fish? that is a lake - no boats (other than workboats) Does he not realize they are nettable?

or is he ignoring fishing?

I agree with that, but there are hills right next to the water. Which, in fact, have iron on them.

His fish are unimprovable unless he builds another city on the water, which he might do, of course.

Eventful turn - commodore builds pyramids and scooter gets monotheism, with Judaism in his new city. If he switches, he's going to get the ivory sooner than later.

Might be time to go to catapults. hmm... he got one of his CG3 archers up to GII. that is going to be a tough mother...

I'm a little confused as to why commodore would be aggressive and then build pyramids. Presumably, he dumped his second city on the stone...

so, I'm getting a prophet. I'm debating settling him, or bulbing something.

In PBEM34g, I shrined with the prophet - mainly because it gave me 3 free priest slots. In this case, the holy city doesn't have great food and I want to work the gold, which takes up 2.. so I have to think about it. It's 1 gpt now.. the extra culture is useful, now that I'm going up against pyramids in that city.

Bulbing means getting meditation and monotheism and then bulbing theology, which is eh. Hagia Sophia is good, sure. But it's a bit of a distraction from currency, construction and the lovely, lovely aesthetics line.

I think that we shine.

Then I look at this:

And I say "shrine, please!!"

His cap has 6 for pyramids, 2 for cap, 2 for for creative, 2 for a lib - 12.

My city has 2 for creative and 5 for holy city. a shrine gives 4, for 11. a library, which I want anyway, cause of the gold, is 2. At the least, it causes him issues... at best, maybe I steal his horses. That's a good thing.

btw - that ratio is on his horse tile.
