PBEM 75 Tech Thread
|
Hope everyone is having fun. A question arose about what exactly "no active espionage" meant, so I'll flesh it out: You can check the Espionage screen, and accumulating EP for tech/city visibility is allowed, but spies are banned, and Great Spies must stay within your borders. My apologies for any confusion.
Sorry folks, but I'm going to need a replacement for this game.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I am ok with playing on in this game for a few turns ... just to keep the game ticking over.
Re my retirement ... the WHY is available here. (Note - this link leads to a PBEM74C spoiler thread).

Like Mack said, that's pretty miserable, man. Don't feel the need to quit here; I've played, what, half a dozen games with you? Your reputation is solid. Being accused of cheating himself, I can understand why Khan gets paranoid, but as far as I'm concerned you have an ironclad rep.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out. (February 28th, 2017, 20:33)Ruff_Hi Wrote: I am ok with playing on in this game for a few turns ... just to keep the game ticking over. Hey Ruff, would you add a note on that link that it's spoilered for players of the 74C/D game, please. Maybe not so important for the "D" listers like me with where the games have got to, but still. Also, what Commodore said.
I clicked the link not realising to where it led. Closed it immediately.
Ruff: I have emailed you the below but just in case you aren't reading my emails now: I have no idea what is on the save currently. My last email to you was sent before I read the tech thread so I was perhaps unaware of how severely this was impacting you. Whatever has happened, I wholeheartedly apologise. I did not mean to make you feel this way and I feel awful for having done so. Even if you had cheated (which i'm not saying you did), then I would still not want you to feel this way. I think this whole thing has been blown out of proportion predominantly due to my paranoia. I am fairly new to multiplayer and am perhaps frustratingly naive. This whole situation has come about because El Grillo questioned how I took 5 of Greenline's cities in 5 turns and asked if I had done anything nefarious. I did not even understand how I *could* have done anything. I immediately offered to have my saves checked to be verified that i've done nothing wrong. El Grillo is doing a lot of work in trying to establish whether manipulating the RNG is a more widespread thing. He clearly feels it is and has had issues with other games. He explained to me how it could be done and what the obvious indicators were of this type of behaviour. Primarily, swapping targets mid-battle, and manipulating the RNG via worker actions to ensure lucky victories at low odds. This was a few days before your attack. Fast forward a couple of days and, with this fresh in my mind, I saw your attack. I had thought I would be safe but clearly I was mistaken so I looked at the combat log to see what happened. All the indicators I had just been informed of were there. I put 2 and 2 together and got 78. As I was recently asked the question, I thought nothing of it to ask you a similar thing. In retrospect, it's obviously much more of a big deal than I had thought. Your offer to delete units etc. was very reasonable. Perhaps too reasonable as I was already in 'Sherlock' mode and this immediate offer made me even more suspicious and made you look far guiltier in my mind. From my point of view, if you are innocent and there's a way to prove it easily, why would you not do it? The Galleon swap was the initial incident that raised the alarm but after your responses, my scheming mind that deduced that maybe you refused to send the save because you were manipulating the RNG further by doing worker actions. This was my second big leap, based on minimal evidence. Turns out I would be a terrible lawyer/detective. I think it's one of those things wherby if you think someone is guilty, everything they then do paints a more guilty picture in your mind. I've taken a step back and can see your opinion now more for what it is. I still struggle to understand why you didn't just respond sure, let krill check. My best guess is that as you're a veteran of many games and of the website in general, it impeached upon your honour/integrity. As i'm not a long time player, the same request caused me no upset. I was surprised but perfectly happy to have my name cleared. I'm not sure sending any of this will help, but I wanted to get it off my chest. I hope you're well and i'm sorry it has all ended how it has. (March 1st, 2017, 08:29)Commodore Wrote: Like Mack said, that's pretty miserable, man.
