Finally I've found some time to test kickstarter beta version of this game. I'm impressed, looks much better than most of current 4X games. I like changes when compared to MOO. Only thing that makes me worried is overall pace of the game. Lack of colony ships and great battle auto-resolver makes it faster but current ship design model makes it much slower. I like random part of ship design. Great idea!

Planet user interface is very good. Default screen with map is a bit worse. Sometimes I've had problem with clicking on a star because fleets were too close. Also I don't like the way current 4x games tend to put blue nebula as a background. It looks nice on a screenshot but it makes harder to see map. I wonder why DG and RotP keep some UI designs from MOO1 and MOO2 era. Example, why do we need a special screen for new tech? If game developer thinks it's necessary why not improve it and make different screens for different fields (biology, force field, weapons etc.)

I like starlanes because they make it feel more like a 3D world.
