[SPOILER] [PB38] OT4E plays this one because lurking around takes too much time

I'm with you on the economy. I think that we might need to plant some cottages in commerce cities on river corners whereas the straight river tiles can get farms and later mills.

If we are not oracling machinery the value drops sharply. Let's make that a c-plan then. How do you feel about the straight teching MC and building the Colossus then? It was powerful for Dtay's pro civ in pb 37. If we don't plant many cottages then working coast should be a decent way to get to midgame techs.

Colossus is fine if we get to the coast smile. We need a strong coastal city for it or possibly TGLH.

I dont exclude Oracling Machinery but the chance to do it is somewhat marginal. It can be done in the way I got it in pb34. Going for Priesthood - Monarchy - Feudalism is ok after MC. So if the Oracle is available by that time we can 1 turn it.

But I believe this game there are too many good players to let this happen. I can imagine us getting Oracle only if the map is tight and people are too busy fighting for land instead of building wonders.

Tentative tech plan is:
Mining - BW
Wheel - Pottery
Hunting - Animals
(Archery) - if we need it for security
(Masonry) - if we want Pyramids
Metal Casting
(Myst - Poly - Priesthood) - if Oracle available
(Horseback) - if we go all-in for numid rush after MC
Sailing
(Masonry) - if we want TGLH and it is not gone (hardly possible though)
Writing
Maths
Calendar
(Aestetics - Literature) - for wonders
Monarchy - Feudalism
...
Fussion - Rocketry - yabadabaduuuu

Looks good. Only thing I would change is to squeeze in alpha and currency after writing to pay for expansion. We should be at 10+ cities [depends on tech rate] at that point if all goes well so they should be very useful.

You are right. We will insert Alpha somewhere.

Hi, here's your MapCad-generated sandbox to help you plan your opening. You'll need to have RtR 2.0.8.4 installed. If something doesn't work as it should, let me know.

Ceterum censeo...

I didnt notice that we have finally started, heh. While staging this I have started 2 more pbs, so my schedule is indeed very tight now.

If you can log in, claim our civ and play 1st turn I will be happy. I think everything is pretty obvious for like 20 first turns. I have no clear idea where to send scout. River often advance to the ocean, but I dont know what do we want to find: neighbors or best places for city #2 and #3.

Ok. I'm home sick so I have the time. Just need to download the new mod.

Played the first turn. Worker and agriculture is the plan. Scouting revealed a good second site to the south but nothing worth giving up settling in place for.

About scouting. I think we want to do some kind sweep of the immediate vicinity to find site 2 and 3 but we can do part of that with the scout and part of it with a warrior later. I suggest spending roughly 10 turns scouting close by and then sending the scout off deeper into the unknown. If we go for the double worker build then we to scout more closely around us to make up for the delayed warrior.

Scouting priorities:
1) Sites 2 and 3
2) Early happiness
3) Bronze after turn 20ish
4) Enemies
5) Other good sites
