Turn 092

Maybe I should have said I really have little desire to continue playing in the tech thread, but I don't feel like this is my game to say whether or not we keep going since I didn't start it. Let the people who started playing decide that, and I'll only start weighing in if the replacements begin to outnumber the initial players.




Banzai has decided to abandon everything. Without a garrison and now surrounded, Port Damali is losing loyalty at -9 per turn, and will revolt in 9 turns. I attacked this turn anyway, because I don't want Banzai (or whomever replaces him) to think they have time to regroup. But really with only 2 swords down there I may just sit back and wait for it to flip or for reinforcements to arrive.

Up north I wish I had built a catapult at the capital instead of the sword I have in queue now. But really there can't be any further gains made until after crossbows come into the scene. And I need money to upgrade to crossbows, which means I need to get into different policies. 5 turns away from that.

I'm still about 50% worse than the field in every stat, but at least this little mouse is roaring.

Cities under revolt don't heal, so I had a good chance at taking Fort Damali.




Until it finished walls and killed the sword that had just earned a promotion last turn.

Now it may just be better to wait for the revolt to take the city out. But another sword and our battering ram are on the way. Dang, this would be a case where the siege tower outshines the battering ram.

Suboptimal offered me OB this turn. I accepted. Everyone that isn't Scotland is my friend. Still feels hollow taking this out on Banzai. Archduke really screwed my sense of vengeance by ducking out of the game.

What? It's a valid point. You had your reasons for quitting, which I'm sure are valid too. But as a result of you quitting from your position I feel a bit cheated. You don't like hearing that? Feel free to take over the civ again from Banzai and wipe me out

Put it another way: Why should Banzai or whoever takes over for him feel like it's fair to be thrown into a grudge match that they had no hand in causing?

Since the game is over and speaking for myself, I did not feel it was unfair since I knew what I was getting into.  I looked at it as a chance to play around without as much pressure.  If I lost it was not entirely my fault and so not entirely my problem.
