This is a remarkably large island for only permitting one single city...

IC-TRs are going to be vital after one more city, I think.

I never do see islands like that on hand-built maps. It's not easy to be consciously random in a way that leads to awkward but not bad results like that.

I like U island, it makes me happy.

TURN 50: INDIA IS KIND OF OKAY
We've got a lovely tiny empire here folks, it's a true pity that it's CRUSHED BENEATH EMPEROR COSTS OF DOOM. Might have to play a little weird here. At least our capital has a lot of hammers; with a granary chopped a couple turns from now it'll really start popping.

Kilmorph's Kiln is...at least very good at growing. It'll be whipping the granary, overflow into...something. I'm not a fan of building more units than we absolutely have to, costs are insane, so this spear is sitting for emergencies only right now.

The newest city, Tali's Terror, sucks wind. Which is at least apropos, crummy mana type ammirite? Hammers are going to be nice here but a single dry wheat doth not a megopolis make. Still, it'll grow dry cottages and make galleys for islands, I don't suppose I can ask for much more.

We're very middle of the road. Discord is proudly Buddhist now, so they're about to zoom ahead with Oracle->Colossus, and our Financial buddies have to be thanking their lucky stars. Even so, everyone is cost constrained.

Life goal for turn 100: At least a dozen cottages, and a way worse approval rate. We can do it, people.

No, air mana is actually pretty good in my book. Maelstrom is the only AoE spell on the magic line, Fair Winds is pretty useful, and Air Elementals are decent.

So that's, like, a single fast worker spending half his time resting?

Challenge is mostly in finding the citizens to work 'em.

On the plus side, we have a lovely archipelago here.

Hopefully, this is something that Chumchu was supposed to contest us for.

Yes. As long as the report is story-style rather than a roll20 transcript wink.

I would enjoy a report given in the form of a rap.

Sweet.

So as a refresher, I’ve been running a very long campaign set within the Rift, a volcanic valley hidden from the purview of Mulcarn in Erebus’ Age of Ice (so Fall From Heaven 1). The five players, currently level nine, are:

Camich, high priest of the nascent Church of Brigit the Shining (Inquisitor 8/Bolt Ace 1)

Tre’gok, half-orc heart of the party, worshipper of Brigit (Fighter 9)

Seckor, wizard* with deception patron (Witch 9) *as far as you know

Ethia, fey-touched natural guardian (Sorceress 9)

Ebb, goblin who was raised by halflings (Ninja 9)

The campaign has been long and sprawling, as it’s a sandbox, but for reference right now the party is using portals that link multiple standing stone sites throughout the Rift; all of the portals are opened by killing a creature and link to the Tomb of Sucellus. The party is coming to a lone island taken over by a corrupted champion of Sucellus, the Mosslord. They arrived to the beautiful view seen here:
…but then with successful checks they determined that every tree, every root…it was all actually made of moss. Then the spores made them all cough, and they had to make fortitude saves. Only Seckor failed his fortitude, and then he had to make a will save…which he also failed. Suddenly, our Esus-blessed witch found himself looking at all of his party members as unnatural abominations, particularly Camich and Tre’gok all clad in metal (Dominate Person, with a Suggestion aspect…I let Seckor’s player still run himself, he’s trustworthy). And then it’s time for Bluff on Seckor’s part and Sense Motive on everyone else’s. Only Camich made it to realize something hostile was in Seckor.

So combat began with Camich yelling “we always knew he’d turn on us” (Esus is a terrible patron) and shooting his crossbow as Seckor cast invisibility. Tre’gok and Ethia both critically fail more sense motive checks and the fighter rushes to grapple Camich while Ethia first tries Hideous Laughter, then just entangles the whole area. Seckor flies upwards a bit and casts Confusion, nailing poor Ethia, who attacks nearest player (Tre’gok). Ebb sees all this and climbs a nearby stone to try and jump out at Seckor. It’s pandemonium.

Seckor’s hostility to the party is made a little clearer when he tries to make his friend Tre’gok “more natural” with a Baleful Polymorph. Tre’gok barely makes the save to avoid taking on a new form:

At this point, Camich’s player senses the situation is rapidly descending into chaos. He decides to case Bane: Human on his crossbow and snap off a strong volley with his repeating crossbow (cho-ku-nu overpowered, yes). His last words before shooting “I’ll knock him unconscious and we can cure him!”

…before shooting Seckor.

…who is flying 60 feet up in the air.

…directly above Tre’gok.

…still standing INSIDE THE CIRCLE OF STANDING STONES.

A human life is sacrificed. The portal to the Tomb of Sucellus is opened with a huge sure of nature energy. All around, grey moss twines and surges, and the first Shambling Mound comes forward. And on that note…we ended the session.
