Thanks Commodore. I appreciate your thoughts, and also the fact that things have been pretty fast and furious here for the past 24 hours. So no apologies necessary.

It was dumb luck that I happened to catch the turn as early as I did, or else I would have been totally cool with Plemo’s request. As I recall, he had a pretty eventful turn as well so I’m hoping there’s a better solution to save us both the agony this time out.

I’m definitely not against replaying but with the conditions above. I just think a replay begs for trouble. Sorry for taking things to 11.

Not everyone Donovan. I see you took almost 2 hours to play based on your timestamps. It's a reason why late game resets are so problematic.

I'm against a reload for that reason. Definitely in favor of extending the timer if that will prevent messy situations like this in the future

Edit: Still hopeful there is a server-side solution ... Don't think I saw a lurker comment on feasibility

Thanks Pin.  I think I’m moving into that camp as well, especially since we've only had about 2-3 turns since T100 without some sort of admin intervention anyway.

I’m cool with starting at 36h and seeing if our worst fears are realized.  It should minimize the frequency of admin bailouts, plus remove some of the time pressure when the turns get a bit crazy.

Could Ramk maybe "fix" things for Plemo, without the game needing a reload? (I have an assumption what went wrong, but obviously don't want to say that out loud here)

Without speaking for what Ramk is capable of doing, I'd say there are too many moving parts to fix everything neatly. Lurkers could discuss how to craft a partial solution that would be easier to implement.

So, um, is there a solution that does not involve delaying past another day?

I am well past irrelevant at this point in time, but fwiw I love the idea of an 'oops' card every 200 turns. I also think if anyone DOES object to a reload, that is probably reasonable at this stage (I do not in this case).
Past Games: PB51  -  PB55  -  PB56  -  PB58 (Tarkeel's game)  - PB59  -  PB60  -  PB64  -  PB66  -  PB68 (Miguelito's game)     Current Games: None (for now...)

This was Dreylins idea assuming you are all fine with him getting an oops and considering don't want to have DZ replay.

Quote:Could we ask Ramk to do just the following:
1) Give plemo the tech
2) subtract gold he accrued during the last turn and the gold he would have spent instead.

This is an incomplete solution, but best we could come up with.

3) Thank Ramk profusely.

Regardless of whether nothing is done or I get an oops, I think the game can continue.

The 2nd step could also be simplified further and all my gold could simply be set to zero. I should have had a little over 100 gold left. This would at least be a small price to pay for my own stupidity.

I agree that minor mistakes and suboptimal moves occur more frequently as the game progresses. Since I've been trying to cause as few delays as possible and move outside my preferred time windows, I've seen a significant increase in mistakes. I currently only have a very small time window each round, which overlaps with the little free time I have with my wife.
Due to personal circumstances (important work phase, move/renovation not yet completed and recently relatives in need of support without children of their own), I'm at my limit and have little time and enough stress that I don't want to add to it with my spare time activities. However, the constant mistakes and ill-considered decisions in the game don't really help, so I will need longer extensions again in the future to reduce this. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.

Yeah, a large part of the issue here is that mine and plemo's play windows heavily overlap for much the same reasons. We do try to get our turn in as early and fast as possible, but at this stage there has been several 2-3 hour turns.
