Western US, -8 GMT. I don't see any problem with scouting. You're probably right that their benefits outweigh our benefits, but finding their cities sounds good.

Here's a draft of the followup message to TEAM about the OB.
Message to TEAM Wrote:Dear TEAM
Regarding the open borders we are fine allowing scouting within our territory if you will allow scouting within your territory, so it's up to you. We are also willing to discuss a potential longer-term NAP with your nation if this would be of interest to you. Perhaps we could begin with a mutual agreement against worker-snatching so that we may both improve the land on our borders without constantly covering the workers?
Sincerely,
The Pirates
That message opening the door for discussing an NAP, but will take a while to come to an agreement and we can draw out the negotiations until after we settle Maracaibo.

Updated the plans for Santiago and Havana. The differences for working the slightly different tiles had no effect on the overall plan except that Santiago is short a few food because i kept it from growing into unhappiness two turns ago. This turn we'll spread Hindu to get our citizens happy again. Barbados continues on track with the worker (reposted below for completeness).
At San Juan we don't need to continue dumping hammers into those walls. Those few were just insurance for later on so that we don't have to dry whip them if they are needed. Since Monarchy is now coming in T100 we can start putting those hammers into Q's for HR military police (just realize that each unit we build now is costing us a gpt upkeep, which is ok as long as it allows us to grow onto a cottage).

One last post for this evening ... I won't be in a position to play the turn for about 20 hours so you'll probably take the turn.
Make any necessary changes to the diplo message to TEAM and then send it off. No need to confirm it with me this time unless you're totally changing it.

What about this?
Quote:Dear TEAM,
We propose the following agreements:
-Mutual Scouting (you can scout us, we can scout you)
-Mutual agreement against Worker snatching (so we don't have to constantly cover our Workers)
-NAP until T110, with intent of negotiating an extension later
Sincerely,
The Pirates
Directly proposing agreements instead of just saying 'it's up for discussion' seems better in my eyes. Plus it's a lot shorter. They might take offence if they think we're bossing them around, though... Hasn't been sent yet.

The reason I kind of left it up for discussion is because asking for an NAP to turn 110 (a mere 15 turns away now) sounds rather suspicious if we just ask for it out of the blue (we have had not diplomatic contact in the last 60 or so turns). We aren't really in a hurry to secure an NAP. Our eastern border thus far has been quiet thus far and the power graph doesn't show them building up military, so I think it's better ease into the NAP discussion by first asking if it would interest them. If they reply with a specific plan we begin negotiating. If they simply reply "yes, we're interested" then we write back a proposal.
If you still think it's better to just straight up ask for it then go ahead and send your message. I don't have anything against the content, except that I think we should go about it a bit slower with a message like my draft. The one think I might change is increase T110 to T120. That will give us more time build units if necessary (hopufully not!) and pop borders, but up walls and generally solidify our claim over Maracaibo.

Looks like the turn took a while to come around so it just reached us. I played it. We had a bit of a setback with respect to worker-micro at San Juan: The gold hill is DESERT which means that improvements take 50% longer I have to get up early tomorrow and I have classes from 8am-9pm so don't expect me to update the spreadsheet.
If you play the next turn set one of the workers on gold to road and send the other to the corn. Corn is a higher priority here since we're going to be whipping down the cities as soon as they reach size 6 and with Hindu they have enough happy to support 5 pop. Plus Monarchy comes in 6-turns to relieve some pressure. I should get to the micro some time Tuesday.
NOTE: Havana will put the next turn into a settler, then grow to size six on the missionary the next turn and get whipped T97.

Sorry about that, flew back in yesterday. Changed the bit about 'we propose an NAP' to 'we would like to discuss an NAP.'

Go TEAM Go!
Yes, of course I'm still bitter. Why do you ask?
Sorry I've been silent, btw. I can't micro plan for crap, so I haven't felt like I could add much right now. Just kind of following along.

OB signed in game with TEAM. I still refrained from entering their territory until getting a reply to the email we just sent.
New cottage build and being worked at Santiago!
PR grew to size 4 EOT, and without a lighthouse we don't have any more good tile to work. I set PR to a worker, and with 10 foodhammers we can whip after three turns.
It's been awhile since we've had a shot of the empire, so here's one. Note the chariot from Trolls scouting along our south. We only have a Quechua in Havana currently, so to avoid temptation I moved a couple more Q's down that for next turn. If I was them and the civ across the map from me left a 50/50 shot I'd take it knowing that retaliation isn't really possible, so there's no need to test our relations. We'll have get 3 Q's into the city.
Next turn whip worker at Barbados. All 3 workers near San Juan will complete the corn farm. I'll check when I get a chance to see what effects this will have on our overall worker plan.
