CMF, leaving for a family dinner and won't be able to pass the save until probably between 8-9 tonight. Just wanted to let you know so you are not expecting it right after I get it.

I do plan on a harbor at Thoth so I can kick out Frigates fast but it will close to the time our DoF with Rome/China runs out when I can start building them. Or, can you guard Valletta and I will move my galley over to the eastern ocean and upgrade him? Hm, it's a good thought, but I'm not sure how to accomplish it. I can't guard Valetta, since I can't enter its borders. I'm also loathe to send any ships around the northern coast - it'll take a long time to get them there, and every ship I send is a ship not facing Rome in these waters. It'd be nice to use the canals and send ships from my southern coast to fight China, but Emperor killed those dreams 100 turns ago. There's just no good way for me to get a large fleet into that ocean, not without giving up on obligations elsewhere. I wish there were some way to communicate with Archduke - I could get my southern ocean to cover his flank against Sulla, then he could leave all his ships to fight Singaboy and start razing Chinese coastal cities. But with no diplomacy such a complex plan is impossible. (April 20th, 2018, 17:26)oledavy Wrote: Keep fighting the good fight! Where do you live in Arkansas? I Think I'm Gwangju Like It Here
A blog about my adventures in Korea, and whatever else I feel like writing about.
So this happened...
![]() I was wondering what all the posting today was about and seeing TheArchduke post something this morning and not passing the save until a little back and forth with Emperor K. I will have some thoughts a little later in my turn report.

Nubia-Turn 131
I will report how it all unfolds. I start with seeing Germany rejecting my offer. No big deal, maybe he didn't understand it or maybe he got the message and just didn't want to accept it to let me know he is on board. Whatever. I also see that Rome accepted my offer... I go and check my cities to see if any are ecstatic... Nope, stupid game just redistributes them equally and I didn't have enough to bring any to +3 amenities. I have to confess, I didn't look to close and try to figure it out if I would. I just noticed that I have a few cities at +2 amenities. No big lose, as I am going to add cities and chop food out to get them to grow and need more luxuries to avoid unhappiness. Now, seeing TheArchduke and Emperor K post before sending the save this morning means they were discussing something. I don't think my message would cause such a discussion, as it looks like this game is heading towards a 2 v 1 against Rome anyways. Add in the posts in the lurker thread and I am becoming suspicious of something happening in the game. This leads me to check things out. I go check the diplomacy screens and what do I find... ![]() Builder finishes at tundra city, so I send it off to CMF... I was considering keeping it to get more builders for mad chopping and faith but there was one other reason to send it off. This will bring the number of cities following my religion equal to the number not following, meaning I will officially be following my religion. No big deal, right? Well, since we will be fighting for our lives some, I can run Wars of Religion for the +4 combat strength. Add on my GG and it brings it +9. Should be very useful in the near future. I harvest the marsh at Ptah, which gives me enough faith to buy a monument up north... Add another 60 ![]() Send it to Amon for 1 ![]() ![]() I switch off the settler at Isis to get an engineer out. No need to spend the faith at Ma'at to get the barracks and armory. One last round of builders before I go full on military mode. I figure I can have 10 horseman and about 10 crossbows finished in the next 12-13 turns and before I finish the techs for upgrades. Now for the current situation. I am really at a loss about why Germany/Russia would see an alliance with Rome/China as their best path forward. As a side note, funny how I sent a message to TheArchduke about our willingness to attack in 15 turns on the same turn, which also makes this more frustrating. He signed it knowing our intentions. As far as I can tell, three things might be in play here: #1 TheArchduke has some residual PTSD from PBEM1 and is afraid of Sullla? Maybe his slaughter in PBEM1 is impacting his actions here, since he doesn't have any Generals or Admirals. TheArchduke is a great general and would do fine against anybody and proved it multiple times but it seems like he is gun shy going against Sullla. #2 Team Russia/Germany think we weren't going to put much effort into a war against Rome/China and they would have to face them alone. Well, they will some see the effort I have been planing for war with Rome/China but now it is going to face them if they try attacking. Even before this turn, I worked out I could get 13-15 horseman and a bunch of crossbows out before T145. I don't think they realize that all my encampments are getting boosted by Valletta and my ranged units can be produced at +100% when running Feudal Contracts. #3 Russia/Germany think they have a better chance of gaining land from us than from China. I think they see my army over at Khmer's former lands and see me as being unprotected. Well, by the time they attack, all my border cities will have level 3 walls and I will have a shit ton of units plus general and encampments. When they run at me, they are going to hit a brick wall. Plus, Rome/China will join in by Khmer's lands. Where do you think I will put more effort into defending: Khmer's undeveloped, shitty cities (no offense Cornflakes) or my highly productive core? Them jumping on to Rome/China's side is only going to help Rome/China gain more land. Germany/Russia will high a brick wall, while Rome/China hit a thick hedgerow (those cities will fall but will try and make it hard and slow process). Maybe TheArchduke thinks he can easily take my coastal cities...All 3 of them? Nu-Kandy plus 2 new cities. One thing I learned in PBEM4, it is tough to capture cities with level 3 walls when Bastions is in play with a strong defender when you don't have an Admiral in play. My frigates only scratched Sinagboy's city walls and he was able to pick off my frigates before I made much headway. CMF, we need to scrape major development plans and go full on military/navy building. If I were you, I would have any city that can pumping out ships. Oledavy showed in PBEM4 that having a bunch more ships can take out Battleships. Also, I have a plan where we could get a canal city to get ships in the northeast sea... We just do it how we were planning on doing it in the first place. Russia has no navy to speak off. If we plan to hit them hard, we can raze Al-Whalwarsbram and replace it with a city on the horses. I would say have you be ready to bombard the city with frigates as soon as we can and then I will capture it with a unit and raze it. Then my settler in production (or if you can get one out) can replace the city. Then you can follow ships through the canals. I am going to leave my army over at Khmer with the exception of a few crossbows. I was going to send all my new units west but will need them to hold the eastern front. My plan is to get 2 settlers and a bunch of builders out at the former Khmer holdings and then harvest anything that I can into crossbows or horses. This will give me a bunch of faith for walls and other stuff. I don't think we have much chance at winning but we will make fighting us a very difficult and long road to travel.
CMF, if it makes you feel better, I consistently enjoy the effort and humor you put into your turn reports.
I don't think you're topping this one, though.
@CMF, I have been hanging around Realms Beyond intermittantly for about seven years, and this is the single best thing I have seen in my entire time here
