Trading is easy when you own all the gold and silver in the world!

Speaking of resources, Scientific Method came in. And I...

...gots...

...me some OIL, baby.

Also see a new intense existential conflict that might end the game if Scooter takes Bigger easily.

Cognitive dissonance is fun though! I settled a couple excellent cities this turn. Moresby owns fish, horse, and some decent production. If "retep" had been, say "Peter, civ player who didn't wander for many many turns before settling", this is a prime Khmer Moai spot.

Also settled? Yellowknife, what most players would deem a marginal fishing village, what Victoria of Portugal calls "an amazing commerce spot worth growing to size twenty".

It's good to be Vicky, yo.

Score is pretty accurate, probably swap Mackoti and Scooter but they're very close. I'm in a solid fifth place, and have nowhere to go but down! Okay, if for some weird reason I find myself with tanks/marines/bombers and William is running around with rifles, I might try something, but otherwise, I'm just big chillin', yo.

Whewkay, two turns have passed since landing SciMeth, and I'm going full blast on Communism. My demos looked great...until this turn, when Scooter peaced out with Bigger for a few city gifts and went full-bore tech for Physics. It's fine, I'll just launch my wee lill' GA in peace. Up that MFG to seventh place!

...this...hurts. frown I whipped Ottawa; it shaves a solid turn off of the Kremlin, which is the all-important wonder for me. Six turns if I do a GA/stay in OR/DoW dtay for stone. That's...icky.

I love my position on the top cities screen. It's 100% true; Mackoti's capital might be better on the beaker count with his Corporation extra TR, but Ottawa is the better all-rounder. The rest? Bah! Children.

Operation Inuit Freedom: Begun! This is going to be a frankly ridiculous exercise, but when I can rushbuy like I can...forget Graham, an actually decent filler city...I'm going to cram in two more cities on the tips of Greenerland, one more northeast of Victoria on Greenland, and Moresby gets a friend too. Why not be frankly ridiculous at this point?

Life in Canada is very very good; marked as it is by cold winters and mild summers, fine First-World technologies with none of the smelly First-World manufacturing, and a giant hegemony to the south cheerily fighting the rest of the world and not us.
So just like real life!

Oh! One other bit of planning:

Tech Path:

Drafting got nerfed all to hell in RBmod...except in the racing sense of the term.

Okay, I'm about to land Communism first, baring magic from Mack, and get myself a Great Spy. I'm going to aim for Constitution next, with the plan to finish Democracy before the golden age ends to get my lovely Kremlin Universal Suffrage on. I'll nab Engineering first I guess, everyone knows it so it is dirt cheap. After that:
NO MORE BEING FIRST TO ANY TECH.
My economy is good, but I'm small, very small, and I need money to build anything at all here, have all game. So I'm going to plan on following for the rest of the game, unless something very weird happens (shot at Fascism's GG or Fusion's GE). I will keep a hefty cash reserve, and burst down techs behind my bigger rivals. This should allow to keep up within 4-5 turns of them all the time, once this golden age comes a cropper. I already have a rich, rich field ahead of me: Chemistry, Steel, Steam Power, Corporation...Physics for airships would be nice, and I'll be following someone to Biology before long I'm sure. This is my plan to remain in fifth place while sipping beer...

...because anyone behind that is just a target.

Yep! Cramming away. Although the "Instant profits!!!" thing is a little misleading for the cram cities. Yes, each new city within at least a stone's throw of a palace is breaking even, but the returns are tiny compared to, say, lush equatorial postjungle cities. I'll crack 30 cities, 10 of those aren't ever going to amount to much.

Anyway, no magic happened, so I won Communism. Mack is racing Scooter for Physics I'm sure. No way I can make it there, so I'm catching my breath on Engineering (cracking top GNP at a couple beakers shy of 4k), watching, and planning for my Golden Age. Finarry have stopped, but Dtay is still beating up on poor Ichabod.

Here's an attractive shot; Ellesmere is finally way too late coming in to its own. Wouldn't a Golden Age look amazing here? Here's my internal debate; I'd kind of like to fire the GA when I get Democracy; imagine this but with all 40+ towns Operation Fiscal Jackhammer has delivered to me now. That would be just beautiful. I need to see if I can afford it happy-wise, though...some of my bigger cities will need happy badly when HR goes away, and cathedrals take time to build.

Finally, Scooter has an insane GNP, because he's building research everywhere and he is in a golden age. How do I know that? I signed OB with him this turn, he's about to get map hacks airships...but I got EP and that's even better. Hellooo Mr. Ooter.
