More Scouting, fishing complete, starting on pottery.
Here is a little puzzle for you. Situation: - no whip anger at capital
- city size 4, building settler puts out +3F and +12H
- settler needs 65 hammers and you want to double whip for pretty close to max overflow
- workers are as below
Over to you ... and don't scroll down too much if you don't want to see my solution.
my solution: - current turn
- Western Worker moves to plains forest and chops
- Eastern worker not really required this turn, so 1 turn of mine into Grassland hill
- warrior moves onto copper
- next turn
- Western Worker chops
- Eastern worker moves to plains forest and chops - chop complete +13 hammers to settler
- warrior moves onto gap
- next turn
- both workers road
- warrior barb fog busting for settler
- whip settler who is at 43 hammers, +40 hammers and about 10 hammers for production - overflow of about 30 hammers into TGW
So, for 3 rounds of production into a settler (plus a chop), I get 30 hammers (about 3-4 turns of hammer production into TGW, a settler and 2 less in my capital. This illustrates the power of the Fast Worker (move and chop on same turn) as well as some mm skills (I hope :rolleyes

Turn two of my puzzle executed as per above. Settler is at 43 hammers, will be double whipped next turn.
I've looked at Northern Red Dot (the yellow highlighted data) and Southern Red Dot (the green highlighted data) using BUG and their city planning tool) and decided to go Southern Red Dot. It has 14 tiles it can work, it can feed itself and produces reasonable hammers. Other pluses is that it is on a hill and frees up multiple mines for white dot (which will be a really nice city once it is up and running - I take back what I said about it.
I also know that Dreylin and Sooooo have founded their first cities. How do I know that ... have I delved into the arcane magics of the F9 screen as per mh? No, I just Ctrl-Click on someone's name, and the diplo dialog box pops up .
Finally, I can see another hut from my capital. I will have to task a unit to take a walk over there (probably through the Northern pass to my capital's right) to pop it.

Settler double whipped, overflow into TGW. Workers have moved to next hill to road, chop and mine (in some order). Southern scout is scouting. Northern scout is preparing for battle ...

My scout survived ...
... but he is now a dead man walking. I don't see much point in healing him for 9 turns as I would probably just lose him on the 10th turn. I'll see if I can get a few more turns of scouting out of him.
Settler moving to Southern Red Dot. All others that I have contacted have a second city so I am behind a little - not too bad as I almost have both of my wonders (TGW in 3).

Workers mined, settler moved to corn, scouts scouted. TGW in 2.
Future Plans:
Capital - grow to max size and pump settlers and workers
Sth Red Dot - grow, warriors (because it will not be connected to the capital

I think that mh and I should work closely together. I think he is way off to the West, and I am East - so no clash of lands for us. I don't know athelete10 very well (he is the other option) so I will be contacting mh to see if he is interested.
Quote:mh,
I don't really know where you are on this map, but I have the feeling that you are way off to the West. I am way off to the East. If my feeling is correct, then this gives us both a very good opportunity to 'partner' as we will not be fighting each other regarding land and resources.
I put 'partner' in quotes as there is a wide range of what this could mean. Are you interested in fleshing this out so that we can discover together how much of a partnership we could form?
Cheers,
Ruff

- TGW Complete!
- First Great Person due in 3, currently 92% chance of Prophet. This will drop as the next three turns will be 50/50 Prophet / Spy.
- My Northern injured scout found an unclaimed hut - totally unexpected given the turn (I bet the blasted villages heal me instead of giving me a tech ... or I get a 3rd stinking map)
- 2nd city on Southern Red Dot due next turn. It needs a name - anyone

Red dot and you're India? Name it the Red Fort.
What's the plan if your first Great Person comes up a Prophet?

What's the plan if your first Great Person comes up a Prophet? I might just go for names of different types of tea for my cities. Red Fort is a good suggestion but I don't think I fully 'get' it. Edit: Ahh - very nice - I will use that.
If I get a Prophet. Well, on the turn in question - the turn before I get my GPerson - live sacrifice of a chicken, suitable clandestine handshakes and what not to induce the God of sneaking. However, if I do get a Prophet ... firstly, lots of swearing at the RNGod (I'll say sorry later). Then see if I can sell him to someone who has a religion for a few good techs or other considerations or just throw him into my capital for the gold and hammers.
