Yup my warrior (2 from capital) will be heading over there just incase.
My scout (1NW of Rosedale) will veer off towards the South and have a poke about.
Tempted to play things risky and let a border pop take the hut North of Ying

Since this whole concept touches a lot of obscure mechanic issues it will be best to clarify how it works before people commit to a tech path.
1) Pre-placed hell terrain cannot be dispelled by Sanctify
2) It will not spread / revert or affect resources. Regardless of AC counter or Hyborem presence.
3) If hell terrain was to spread naturally ( via Hyborem induced spread or Wonder spell ) on a tile with pre-placed one, the pre-placed tile will be dispelled to normal terrain.
As you can see it's unobvious and makes little sense. Unfortunately it's one of these FFH quirks we need to live with.
So...no need to rush for KoTE, then. Maybe, eventually, we can wipe it out using natural Hell (wow, what an oxymoron) but for now we just need to accept the tile yields as they are.

Hell terrain doesn't really change the tile yields anyway.

THANK YOU MIST!

Skip the lightbringer scout idea! One of us can go for Hunters and Hawks instead! Lightbringers may still be useful as future Priests, mind you, but .
Also, we've revealed a few land tiles. And another hut

You know, I think I may have my scout head straight for the hut you want to pop with your borders, Jkaen. We'll be able to explore with Hawks soon enough, but that 'more favorable hut results' seems extremely valuable .
We'd have needed Hunting anyway, since it's AW, but getting it now... . Maybe we can even skip the BW path, since we can have Hunters and Hawks for defense, almost as good as bronze warriors? And they ought to be able to farm XP off the wildlife.
Also...I wonder if it's worth picking up Way of the Forests?
Anyway, going to have to think about how to turn this awesome bonus into snowballing on our part.

Only problem is bronze warrior - 25 hammers, hunter - 60 hammers.
No elves anymore, means no race for leaves, and I am happy to grab as many religions as we can.
Think a nice early hawk network will be handy.
As for the hut, it makes sense for your scout to go get it, just didnt think it was worth getting my warrior out of position for, lets hope you luck keeps rolling!

Jkaen Wrote:Only problem is bronze warrior - 25 hammers, hunter - 60 hammers. Well, that's true. And the bronze warrior is better at city defense, too. I suppose we really ought to just head straight there, Crafting next, then Mining, then BW. That'll give us the security to come back and pick up econ techs - but in a world with Horded units (probably Goblins and Goblin archers) and Tasunke, I'll feel a lot better once we have something at least better than Str 3. And the pre-improved tiles combined with having 2 palaces of research power ought to let us afford that. The only things I'm debating whether we ought to pick up before BW are Fishing, Mysticism, and Education. Edit: Maybe Animal Husbandry, too, so we can Subdue Animals and use the pigs I found.
Maybe that'll be an easier choice once we have a Hawk network up so we know if anyone's rushing.
Jkaen Wrote:No elves anymore, means no race for leaves, and I am happy to grab as many religions as we can. Yes, it would be handy to have options. It would also be handy to boost those forested cottages to ancient forested towns . The only question is when to slip it in, really; right now I'm thinking we should still wait a bit, until after BW, probably Kilmorph as well, and likely some econ techs. Although it would be nice to grow up the forests on those free starting towns, it's probably not worth risking our security for.
Jkaen Wrote:Think a nice early hawk network will be handy. I agree 100%. My only debate is just how early to push this. I'm currently thinking I ought to finish my worker, build a Bloodpet, then go straight for Hunting Lodge, Hawk(s), and Hunter(s); that would let us run a smidge light on military since we'd have a few turns warning on anything incoming.

Ok, we're on the same page here. I was willing to leave the hut for your culture when we needed exploration above all, but that's likely to change as a result of Hunting. My only frustration is that Darrell's likely to pick up a lot of what should be our huts, but there's nothing that can be done about that, really. Similarly, I'm afraid he'll pillage a lot of 'our' preimproved tiles. But really, until we have at least Bronze warriors or promoted Hunters, there's not much we can do about him.

Ask and ye shall receive!
Ok, ok, this one was only half a tech. Still... . I tentatively started us on Crafting. I also compared times for the scout to get to the hut, and it only costs a turn to go the long way around the lake, so he's headed north.
For Gaspar (and any other lurkers who may be about), a shot of the recent exploration by the not-really-a-lightbringer:
And, now that my borders have popped, I rearranged tiles for a faster worker and more commerce:
So, in addition to having 4 techs at T3, I'm working a farm equivalent and a forested cottage

I believe this is the very definition of a fast start. You guys are due some luck after PBEM6.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Moved my scout a square into the forest NW of him and saw no huts etc, your seems to be having all the excitement!
Just one thing I thought of that may be worth a worldbuild, all these shallows we have lying around, how do they interact with the likes of tsunami?
