A couple of new questions
* Work permits. I tried signing a player without a EU citizenship several times, never succeeded. Which is extremely annoying, just yesterday I had the Canadian U20 captain, defender with Championship potential, agree to a salary of around £4k pa and ready to move, only to have the work permit application turned down. Where can I find work permit requirements? Apart from the Home Office website, I mean I'm sure they are somewhere in-game
* Releasing players on free transfers. I see people saying that when they take charge at a new club, they release any player they don't need and can't sell. But from what I can see, when you release a player on a free, you have to pay him the full salary he would've gotten if he finished his contract. Is it right? What's the reason to release a player then, isn't it better to keep him and repeatedly try to arrange his move to another club? Even if you fail, you will lose the same amount of money as you would be releasing him

Anyhow it's pretty hard to get a permit, even on appeal, for a player that has not been capped for a senior national side. This

is the official real life guideline and the game is coded to follow that.

Releasing the player on a free makes room in the wage budget for new signings you might otherwise lack.

When you release a player on a free transfer you pay the full salary he was going to receive? Isn't it just half of it or a percentage?

You only pay a fraction if the contract was mutually terminated.

Wow, that's harsh. I always assumed that it was a fraction (since that's the way it works on Brazilian Labour Law, even with the special law applied to professional football players). Nice to now...
So, offering players around with a zero fee is still a viable strategy. :neenernee

That's what I do all first season long :neenernee It's shocking who the predecessors sign.... I had a striker on £17k pa, the highest salary in the club (well, after mine ), who missed the first month of the season completely "for personal reasons", and when I finally got to see how he plays, it looked like he can only stroke the ball, not strike it. What he was getting £17k for is the biggest mystery in FM universe. Luckily I managed to fool a Welsh club into signing him mid-season

I have had little to no luck selling players in general in FM games, atleast the ones i want gone anyway. the "Release on a Free" and " Offer Mutual Termination" buttons get ALOT of use in my games.

I'm needing a little help with my latest game.
I have just taken over Sheffield Wednesday in League 1 - saving them from relegation at the end of the season.
I've assembled a team which I think should be Championship quality easily but with pre-season and the first few games of the season has led to some really annoying results and I'm wondering if I've got my tactics all wrong.
I have been trying to work a 3-5-2 formation due to the fact that I have a lot of strong CBs and good strikers which lead to me wanting to use two of them. With the skills I have, I have been trying to play with Attacking/Control mentality but its leaks aplenty at the back.
My first choice XI is - Cerny, Nibombe, Booth, Beevers, Moussi (Anchorman), Livermore (B to B Mid), Gomez (Adv Play), Lua Lua, Del Nero, Madine (T Man) & Miller (Adv For)
Miller is just awesome and should score hatfuls but my midfield & defence just can't get working.
If you guys could have a look at the save and make some tactical suggestions I'd be much apprecited!
