Nudist Progression

I agree with Wyrm and FoxBat - missions ought to take priority over quests. But I would really dislike it if we were responsible for doing all the side quests "on our own time," so to speak. This is entirely my point of view, but I see it that the reason for playing on a nudist team is to play on the nudist team - and I mean the whole game, not just the missions. I want to play with the team, not have to drag the idiot henchies along, or (heavens forfend!) join a PuG to get a quest done. As FoxBat says, there's no way in Hell's Precipice that we'll be at...Hell's Precipice before Factions is out. lol

Will it really be a hardship after Factions comes out to commit one night a week to the Nudist Cause? I will still be happy to do so - it's the company that keeps me coming back for more, not just the game. Group hug, everyone! heart

The new update is just awesome especially for the Nudist

Quote:All skill trainers can now sell you any non-elite skill that you have previously unlocked on your account.

I suggest we all take a few moments to checkout all the "new" skills that are opened up to our Nudist before we meet again on Tuesday.

Keep in mind that your nudist can now have any non-elite skills, as long as you have a character who has done all the profession Path quests on the same account. See a non-elite that's not offered by the trainer? Change secondary profession with your older character, go to Ember Light Camp to buy it and unlock smile

I understand that and it makes perfect sense. I was looking for a way to speed things up a bit (no offense to anyone, but spending over a month stuck in Ascalon was a bit disheartening). I don't mind doing skill quests with the group, but taking on side quests that aren't related to the main flow of the game or offer skills of their own seems somewhat pointless to me. How about we compromise and say that skill quests are still something to be done during the regularly scheduled meetings, but quests that do little more than soak up time (i.e. Blankets for the Settlers) are left out?

No, it won't be. I'll still be there as many Tuesdays as I can to join in. This, however, brings up an entirely new point. Will everyone involved in the nudist teams be getting Factions? If yes, do we want to continue the quest to include the Factions PvE content? If no, then should we limit people who do get both from being able to bring in skills from there that aren't available in the Prophecies campaign?

To be honest, I have to wonder a bit about this one. Sure, gaining access to all non-elites is nice, but it almost seems like it's going against what the nudists are about, at least from what I've been led to believe. So far, we've been going through the game progressively, taking everything as it comes, relying on what the nudists have been able to accomplish on their own (some of us have skipped earlier parts of the game, but that's due primarily to us starting late, or in my case, having deleted the character temporarily for the Factions weekend and to remake as something different). Taking skills before they would normally have become available in the game (on a clean account) almost feels like cheating.

Oh, before I forget, this Tuesday is another one where I'll be late (hopefully no later than 9:30, but I can't guarantee anything).

I think I'm in agreement with Wyrm on this one, and honestly I wonder at the wisdom of this change by A.net. Is anyone going to bother to do any of the skill quests anymore, with any new character? (except to cap the elites, of course)

For the Nudists, it seems to be out of character, for all of the reasons Wyrm mentioned, and also because it lessens the challenge of it - and isn't the reason behind the Nudist team to increase, rather than decrease, the challenge? It is the equivalent, skill-wise, of having a low-level character towed to Drok's to get the 1.5K armor, while the character is still level 6! We ought to discuss this as a team, and come to a joint decision, before we all start packing end-game skills on. I, for one, really feel a sense of accomplishment when I get to a new area and find a new skill opened up (yes, I know I'm weird). I am going to hold off on having Arty get any new skills until we decide whether to take advantage of this or not.

Giggles... We asked for it in the Expansion thread [Image: rolleye.gif] - Although it is not all that we hoped for, it is a step in the right direction.

Another thing I really want to push for is to make aggro management less (cheesy) than what it is now in GW - to make monsters AI more "chaotic" and the game more challenging.

-----------------------------------

I can certainly understand the concern of getting skills that were not normally available pre-update, and I am happy to see people are up for a more challenging game. So lets have a vote on it.

Note: All skills are supposed to be balanced across the broad, Elites to Elites, and non-elites to non-elites. That is why Either Is Fine by me.

I can see where people are coming from on the against side. I agree it's good for regular characters. (Why do skill quests? Free skills you don't have to pay skill points or $ for! That still stands, even with the change.) However, I don't see a really strong position on the 'for' side as far as nudists goes. What do we really gain as nudists by allowing these extra skills? A few extra builds, (minion mastery becomes more viable, for one) but unless it becomes clear that we can't do without, I think I'd rather stick with doing things the old-fashioned way.

My vote is no for now, with the option to revisit this later.

Personally, I'm auto-limited because I don't have either monk or warrior skills unlocked, so this 'lifted restriction' does not apply to Sanskirt Mo/W.

Vote: Not yet. What builds do you guys have in mind with later skills? I personally think what I have is useable, assuming we play under 60% DP, and I let you guys die... a lot.

I like perfomring skill quests on Tuesday nights when we simply don't have a strong showing of people, especially the first hour, but some exp-only quests are wasteful to me. It is a bit arbitrary, but I think some quests are particularly worth doing, and others are just... pointless. Iron Horse Mine quests? We should ration our time better, but 'missions only' seems too across-the-board for me. Particularly since some missions seem uninteresting, even as a nudist, while some other quests are challenging even without being a nudist.

I liked our journeys from Bergens to Temple of Ages, to beetletun, and to divinity coast.

Well, I'm going with a "yes, allow" vote. If we were back in ascalon, then it might indeed be majorly unbalancing and worrying. But seeing as we are already in ToA, the lion's share of non-elite skills are already avaliable to us. Most of them I'm not willing to spend money/cash on when I can pick them up via a quest anyway, the only possible exception for my char is prot spirit although that really is not necessary yet with life bond. (Possibly the only way to survive the mursaat though, with a pumped up healing breeze on top of it, but the quest is in the desert anyway.) Let's not forget that some skills can already be capped much earlier than they are otherwise avaliable, for example an MM would be advised to grab verata's sac during the villany quest. And if people do want to "waste" their skillpoints rather than doing a skill quest, well then that's just less nudist nights spent on quests and more on getting through the missions.

The one major difference for my char (and I've already gone and bought the skill) is mantra of inscriptions, which otherwise doesen't come until rankor. It combos very nicely with blessed signet and sig of devotion, which in turn lets me maintain more enchantments like life bond and get free heals more often. Personally I'd rather not wait until rankor before I can sustain two bonds at once, though I'll manage alright if that isn't the case. Just keep in mind there's only one real healer on this no-armor team, and I'd really rather we not be limited to 5e skill builds all the time. [Image: wink.gif]

Whether or not to allow factions skills is a somewhat seperate issue I suppose, although one that must be considered. From what I've heard some of the "new" skills are carbon-copy replicas of prophecies-only ones, and a good number of the new skills for core classes are elites that a nudist likely couldn't cap without the team anyway; it therefore may not make much of a difference, and be best to allow for the sake of simplicity. But it's better to make that decision once we have the final skill list in front of us.

Seeing as I'm barely around for nudist nights now...I doesn't matter to me. This change by ANet doesn't really affect me, like it doesn't affect Drasca. I have no Monk skills unlocked on any other character on the account my nudist is located on. I didn't have ranger skills either until recently.

KoP, sorry about last night. I was cranky and while I didn't believe the plan would work, you didn't deserve criticism when the boy benji died.

Mind forgive and forgetting? Use the peace smoke
