Do you have plans for all your religions, or are you just grabbing them because they were there for you to grab?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

quick update

founded my 12th city, bellamy to try and nab the whales from slowcheetah in the same way brick seems to have grabbed mine. got fed up moving the galley and scout so deleted them. paper completes at end of turn and i noticed that the great prophet is only giving 793/1201 towards divine right so ive slipped that into my tech queue and will bulb the prophet whilst on 0% nab islam in 1 turn as theres gonna be over 200 overflow from paper, cunnning eh? haha

Sounds good. How is the big picture looking? Anyone running away with the thing yet?

sian was, but now brick is, after sians war with azza and commodores help

good thing i decided to do a quick update as the games started to roll again

bulbed the great prophet and got 797/1201 towards divine right so i wouldve finished it this turn if i couldve afforded it. so 2 turns at 0% to complete it on the 3rd.

nothing else to report except im thinking of whipping the cities that have over 10 pop. maybe haha

Sounds good. Beakers generated by a bulb grow as your population grows. Long story short, it's always better to bulb near (but not AT!) the end of a big tech, not the beginning. It's a small difference (6bkr per pop?) but worth considering.

maybe i bulbed too soon. dont think i was due any more population during the next 2 turns. anyway i was thinking of 2 or 3-pop whipping which would lose population so maybe i did bulb at the right time after all haha

seriously guys what is the hold up with the turn? brick sits on it for about a day and then azza takes his time too. its still got sian and slowcheetah to go.

quick update - hopefully brick is still around to play and get the turn moving again as he just posted in the pbem41 thread as wannabe mammaker

looked at the EP situation and im in a hole with sian. 1-pop-whipped 3 courthouses so the extra 6EPs might bring us back level. only seemed to sacrifice random specialists so probably no harm done. couldve completed divine right this turn but chose not to. complete it next turn then its 0% to get ready for the liberalism run again haha

fuck! brick got liberalism first! if only i had sped up the great prophet to bulb theology instead of getting sidetracked by divine right! maybe id still have lost who knows.
