T14 declares war

So Mr. Cataphract is nearby should I decide I need to slow him down a bit. Nice to know. The map just clicked with me last turn - I think we're ALL in the south separated by peaks. I'll expound on that in a little bit. So anyways, I wanted him to be not sure where I went:

More river desert. I bet Mist plops our Iron in the middle of the desert where you have to settle a Kuriotate-type settlement that can never grow above size 1 to get it. That's right, you make me an FFH map and I'll make FFH references that I only know from having read PB's masterpiece from FFH PBEM I. Anyways, the homefront:

I'm trying to break my habit of always posting the demos and never saying anything useful about them, so I've been trying to take capital shots more frequently instead. Also, I never cease to be amused by forests on peaks. Anyways, I'll probably send that warrior that is about done northwest unless I feel the need to keep him at home to welcome AT, but I'll build another warrior after this so I'd be safe if I ran off. Anyways, things are looking pretty good. Sian and AT quickly got to size 3:

Luddite on the other hand did not. Odd. Second worker? Or is he going settler already? Either one really. I could see settler making sense... I'd bet worker though with this start.

Well, you can always build the Mines of Gal-Dur if you don't want to settle the desert. alright

No, I don't actually remember where (if) Mist put the iron, and I'm too laid-back to click over a thread and check wink

Good idea!

I have no idea what you are talking about. smile

FFH version of Ironworks, the main difference is that it actually provides iron wink

And I find your map related comments highly amusing lol

[channelingKrill]how come you don't have a road 1S of Cancun. When worker 1 went from the wheat to the corn, did you not build 1T road in between?! Noob! [/channelingKrill]

You should play FfH, scooter. It's pretty fun. smile

You should see Mist maps there... Those are some evil, evil things...

Hah, I was betting it was some sort of terra-forming wonder that magically made all the desert... I don't know, not suck or something. And glad you're enjoying the map comments - they'll be around for a bit longer probably smile.

This is actually really funny to me that you noticed because I intentionally didn't mention it. I realized I did it as soon as I moved the worker, but I felt like reloading was unfair because it was a brain fart because I was rushing turns and not a misclick. Anyways yeah, I was going to mention it but decided not to for whatever reason, so it's funny to me that I actually got called out on it. Good to know people are actually reading this stuff fairly closely. wink

I tried once and just couldn't get into it. I think I found the game generally overwhelming. There was no easy way to dip myself into it, and I was having enough fun with BtS that I didn't want to flail around with it for a dozen hours before I had a clue what I was doing. If there are any nice walk-throughs that you could link me to I'd definitely read those sometime soon and maybe give it another try. nod

Does anyone happen to know if peaks count as land tiles in the score?

Edit: To clarify. Right now it says we are at 884 land tiles. If one peak got turned into a grassland, would we still be at 884 or would that jump to 885? I'm guessing it's the latter and that they do not count based on my estimates.

Peaks do count as land tiles. Changing peak to grass does not affect land tile count.

Yes. Play FFH. Everyone should play. Everyone.

For regular FFH, try playing the official scenarios which come packaged with the mod. EitB, the RB FFH mod, sadly doesn't have much in the way of a tutorial, although it doesn't differ too greatly from the base game.
