Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Angel King Jowy IV

Mardoc's Settler and stack is still MIA, and I've founded the city of Zanarkand, yay!
I sent him an offer for mutual Open Borders, and also a sheep for sheep trade as a sign of peace.
I have 3 axes and 1 spear joining my stack in 3 turns, better safe than sorry.

4 turns until the next GP. It's about a coin flip between Scientist and Priest. Probably burning it on a Golden Age.

Can you make screenshots of your dotmap, demos and graphs?

You'll get demos this turn. If I can get Mardoc's graphs back I will post those.
I'll think about making a dot map. Mostly it's just filler cities left now so I haven't had use for one, but if it helps.. smile

Even though I'm #2 in Pop, I'm struggling with happy cap. No-one has happy resources to trade.
I need to get Calendar next after Currency and hook up my own stuff. Monarchy could be good as well considering my unit count.

Scouting Mardoc's lands since he sent a chariot my way. I think it's worth the risk.
If he attacks my war chariots, I know that he's still looking to go to war with me and possibly hiding a stack.
I spotted a catapult coming this way, and I've been keeping an eye on his power steadily rising at about the same pace as mine.

This is the southeast and what is left of Demon Prince Sian. My "ally" thestick is doing work. I'm trying to find his stack so I know if I need to prepare to defend.

thestick is starting to look like a monster, I assume he's the crop leader. Will you be able to focus on economy for the foreseeable future, or is too much stuff going on still?

It's gonna depend on Mardoc. I'm not gonna pick a fight with him, but I'll defend myself if he feels he deserves Zanarkand more than me. Sian hasn't been a problem, I haven't had to reinforce that front. The grand plan is to just focus on economy, and dogpile thestick if the opportunity ever rises. I reckon it will have to be when most of the map is filled, preferrably when he has three neighbors (I expect Sian to be gone by then). Thestick is indeed the pack leader, has been for quite a while now and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. It's likely that he will win by concession, but if everyone recognizes his leading position and is willing to try to take him down, then we should at least make him work for the win smile

We got Currency! Now we want some foreign trade routes. I built a road to Mardoc this turn, and he has a worker in place on his border to connect our empires if he wants it.
We're going to research Calendar next for the much needed happiness (and some okay tiles, too).

Used this fella for the golden age. I considered other options. Philosophy bulb would have been nice, but we'd have to get Alphabet, Code of Laws and Meditation before we could do that.

With the next Great Scientist, we might just build an Academy wink

Check for graphs under spoiler tag:

I've gotten really fast at typing the screenshot tags.

We're finally going to meet Bob next turn. Mardoc has more land than me, I've dropped down to fourth. I wonder if there are custom islands in this. I'll have a galley ready in a few turns to check out the peak tile in the horizon.

GNP is getting better, though so are theirs. Thestick revolted to Bureaucracy.
Btw Mardoc got The Great Lighthouse a few turns ago. I'm still going to keep Open Borders with him. The way I see it, right now we need to work together if either of us wants to have any chance in this game.

Steelport finished the National Epic. We finished Calendar and had workers ready to start improving the new resources.
Three new cities upcoming: One SW of Zanarkand, one on the west coast SW of Steelport, and the third one probably towards the middle of the wheel if I have workers freed by then.

I chose to go for CoL/CS before Monarchy. Music was another option. Too many useful techs..

Found Horse Archers heading towards Sian. Looks like Thestick can capture all of Sian's cities, else he wouldn't bother pushing on. Bad news for us.

World Map as I know it. Met Bob this turn, sent an offer for OB and a health resource trade.

Got the second Great Scientist, built an Academy in the capital.

Founded Vizima, a filler fishing village.

Settling the pigs, dyes and fish spot as my final city to the north next turn.
Got five workers for Denerim and Zanarkand but they've still outgrown the improvements and have had to work some crap tiles.

The settler from Santa Monica will settle here. Not much food. I'll need the fish, hopefully Sian doesn't have culture on it.

Got Code of Laws. 7T for Bureaucracy. Mostly just growing my cities now that I've finally got a higher happiness cap. I think going for the Great Library wasn't worth it at the point that I did go for it. Going for Currency (trade route GPT) and Calendar (higher happy cap -> bigger cities) would have done more for me than getting The Great Library. Maybe even CoL and Bureaucracy before it, though at that point you aren't really "going for it" anymore but rather "picking it up if it happens to not be built" :P
