On T59 I got a very good event for the situation.

Free monument for 3 of my cities, and two of those really needed it (and they didn't have very much of hammers input!), so really glad I got that here.

In other news I just got (T60) BW, and currently saving gold. My GP (GS) is out on T65. I am still debating a little bit but I think Slavery plan has to go... Instead I'll grab CoL right away, try to put as many mines down as possible already (for those cities that are getting GMs as soon as possible) and revolt with a GA to new civics. After CoL if I see Festivals still not researched by any of my opponents, which is the case on T60, I'll give a run for Drama. And I should win that easy unless someone has Festivals by then. Anyway, free Sanitation would be very handy!

Then I'm considering Fishing -> Sailing/Hunting. I have tons of extra food so it'd be nice to grow my cities bigger with happy (Ivory + potential Pearls). Maybe even a religion somewhere... We'll see, my plans change too often, almost every 4-5 turns so I'm kind of trying to focus on one thing now. That island next to me (not the smaller looking one, but the bigger) is looking very promising. I hope I can find some more happiness there, actually... I should probably grab Fishing quickly for WB scouting, and if the island looks as lush as they seem from what I can see, then Sailing should follow Fishing quickly.

Demowise thoughts:
Me: GNP leader = probably also tech leader
Plako: Food leader, also biggest army
Mardoc: Production monster
Dave: Kind of in the middle in all, 2nd in GNP (but he is CRE)

2 turns today already eek. Plako's GNP had a big jump recently but that's probably because he's finally researching BW and many other people have it already so he gets some juicy multipliers there. He's also up to 6 cities. My 5th will be settled on T64. Currently preparing my land for GMs, lots of mines are going to be built quickly everywhere. I'll at least put a quick GM in my 2nd city and also my Copper production city. Capital will also get it eventually though probably a bit slower than my 2nd city. This will slow down my expansion a lot, and I will only build a settler in my 3rd city in the south when it hits size 7 (that'll be on T63). This is a risk but it should pay-off nicely when I get some GMs up and running.

Changed my name to Bloodthristy in game and cities got re-named as well. Time to establish my Bloody empire Commissar!

In the south I found barb city spawning in a decent spot.

1 tile off where I wanted but that's all good, defnitely a keeper.

Then in north I settled my 5th city, also noticed we're soon having a border tension with Mardoc.

Ok so it's on:

Before GA:

After GA (+Aristocracy):

Amusingly enough I am only slightly #1 in Production even with GA. Anyway, I 1-turned Fishing, Sailing next and I hope for Pearls somewhere close... I'm going to be pissed if I found one that I can't reach because I moved my cap smoke.

Capital will 5-turn GM, 2nd city with the same time. That should give me quite a nice amount of hammers. New settler will come out in 6 turns. I might settle near cap my #6 city to use some of its tiles while it's still relatively small size (8) and has tons of good tiles to work. That feels kind of like a filler city but it'd definitely be worth it. Another thing is to go to that bigger island straight away. I actually like this play as I don't have any plans to settle too much in the south just yet. In the north I found Mardoc's another city (some SE of the other city I saw 2 turns ago) so I probably won't fit many cities there either. Well, I could fit one but that's about it.

One problem right now is the shortage of happy resources. I mean even with Aristocracy -1f penalty my cites would still grow pretty fast. And especially if/when I grab Drama for Sanitation that's going to be even faster. So it'd be nice to grow tall with all this food and put that into something useful. What options do I have for happiness:

1) Techs for happiness:
- Sailing and pray for Pearls nearby
- Hunting: I have Ivory inside my borders +1 happy in all cities for 287 beakers. I'll take that. The question is just when to research it. One possibility would be to grab it right now before Sailing. I don't want to delay Drama too much or I might lose it (though I am checking every turn if anyone has Festivals). Good thing that none is Fin so it's unlikely anyone researched Festivals at this point without trying Drama. The Clowns might have a reason to do only that but others maybe not this early. I doubt anyone is going to give a run for Drama now that I am in GA and would easily win it. Still, need to decide on Hunting sooner than later.
- Currency: Consumption +2 happy with Market and Theater (Theater unlikely but Market possible).

2) Some buildings:
- Training Yards with Nationshood +1 happy. These I will build eventually but not at all in most cities.
- Carnivals when I get Festivals: 80h for +1 happiness. I don't like these. I never build them.
- Theaters from Drama, those give +1 with Dyes. 100h for +1 happy face seem like waste but I could alter the culture slider for more. Also +1 happy with Consumption which I will get later but... let's just say Theater has its uses but still pretty meh. I need those 100h for something else.

3) Religion:
- Any of them could work really. But it takes time to spread that stuff... not sure if I can afford that quite yet but it's a possibility as well, then mabye revolt back to Religion at some point for even more happiness. Max +3 happy with Religion + Temple + a spread to city.

I think I'm liking Hunting more and more... the price is just so low. Those buildings are nice once I have GMs and can get like 20h/t in my capital. That is in 5 turns!

So I guess on the otherside of the Ringthere's something going on...

Notice those Dyes/Pigs not jungled anymore. Dave has his 3rd or 4th city there which I believe is under attack soon...

... as you might already know from Dave's thread. The power situation on T67 was:

And on T68 Dave had a decent spike in power and also:

Interesting. Anyway, if plako eats Dave things are not looking very good... I am hoping Dave can hold plako enough or preferred to make it stalemate. That'd be perfect for me, I'd grow enough and attack plako (former Jale area) with tons of Morois. I'm actually currently rather afraid that most of the map will never be used frown. That's a shame as Bob/Q have done quite nice work with all the land in addition to the Ring.

Anyway, my GA continues and I did indeed decide to grab Hunting quickly. I will get +1 happy on T70.

Demos from the latest turn (T68).

plako's power is 70k, Dave's is around 55k. I don't think plako can conquer too much, maybe if he has very high promoted units, but even then... Dave has BW obviously and those warriors are just too good on defense, though I believe plako will be running 100% cash for a little and upgrade a lot of his units to Sons (which he can do anywhere, even inside Dave's territory). That's one of the funniest thing to do with Doviello, capturing enemy workers and turning them into soldiers with just 10g each (I don't actaully remember the gold amount but close to that).

Well, it's not looking very good alright.

There's peace in the world again.

Dave had another nice spike in power too recently.

It was accepted on T71 (and plako plays after me) so it was plako who proposed peace treaty and Dave accepted that. Interesting. I guess plako realised he couldn't make much out of it? Well, either way good news for me. I was able to finish some GMs and man, these buildings are just awesome. Yeah, I knew they were but still it's nice to be able to build 5t settlers even without EXP smile. Capital is going to put quick TY up and then spam 2-3 morois (2 turns for each even after GA ends, not bad) to capture that barb city in the south and also to send one or two to scout former Jale's area incase plako has some weak spots there mischief.

I still haven't went for Drama route, I am not absolutely sure I even want to rush that really. There's absolutely no need to rush there. None has Festivals on T71 and while Food is important (Sanitation would be handy), production is going to be much more useful for me, and also for that fact that there ain't THAT many mines but green farmable grassland everywhere. Especially as I'm going to need some infra + Morois shortly and not just worker/settlers. I do need those as well of course, I'm only at 5 cities lol, but yeah.

I'm getting Sailing next turn (T72) and then I'm building a quick Galley for that island. If I find Pearls somewhere close I'll settle my #6 city for that, otherwise I'll settle for a spot (kind of a filler) south of capital. It can share a lot capital's tiles (and it has plenty of extra) so it'll be decent anyway.

So Sailing finished and Bloodthirsty sees no Pearls here shakehead.

Yeah, I know I could maybe use a bit less signs smoke.

On T74 I found that some had researched Festivals (either plako on T73) or Mardoc/Dave on T74. I am too lazy to figure it out from increased scores/GNP drops. Doesn't really matter, I'll grab Drama just to be sure.

Also on T75 I got my first Galley out moving, took a BP with it and scouted the nearby island.

Nothing too special so far... but then on T76.

dancing. That's 3 happy resources, just perfect for my enormously growing cities, especially when I get Sanitation. I am getting settler here in 3 turns just in time with Drama to build culture and all. Things are looking pretty good here. Not ideal to settle on Sheep but it'll work to grab all of the land in the south. I'll probably settle north first (need 1 more scouting turn for more info at least) to get 2 happiness quicker, they're also in the 1st ring so I can build WB out the gate while workers transported can improve Cotton right away.

Cities with little details in spoilers:

Blood. That's my lovely cap. Currently avoiding growth because of unhappy penalty. Very good city for both Commerce/Prod now that it has GM. This city has been mostly building settlers for me, in fact all of my settlers except one are from this city.

Bloodshed. 2nd city, production city #1 in the northern part of my empire. Can work ~20h/t with changing to those hill tiles.

Bloodbath, 3rd city - absoutely no hammers here. GM is pain in the ass to build here but it'll be worth it eventually. Will be (and is already) one of my best commerce cities but it'll be doing a lot of Settler/Worker builds as well.

Carnage. I love this city, even if the healt situation is not ideal (no freshwater next to city). Potential of working 21h/t, a production city for sure.

Slaughter, newer city. Borders with Mardoc so good to be on hills. Not the best city but will be decent eventually, will put up 2nd ring borders when Drama comes. Also shares some tiles with Bloodshed which is useful.

And finally Annihilation, my last city so far. A filler that's what it is. It'll be using some farms around Blood/Bloodbath as there are so many good tiles I just can't work with happycap of 9.

Demos from T75.

Even with my GA ending I have superior GNP lead (surprise, surprise as all of the others except Dave are in Despotism still). I wonder what's up with that. Leading slightly in production and 2nd in food and quite a lot beind plako, but that'll change once I get to Sanitation.

This feels like it's turning to be a battle between me and plako. If I can put my GNP lead to use quickly, like get to Vampires very quickly I should win. I don't know what Mardoc is up to, his cities are small (cap size 6) and he only has Wines as extra happy resource. He has 7 cities though. This also means that he hasn't grabbed Sugar/Dyes E/SE of him. Feels pretty strange to me. Dave managed to survive from plako so he can still do something... but he's in a tight spot. Actually, I hope Dave wants a revenge with plako later, that'd do a favor for me. Plako is a little harder, he has tons of cities (7) but his teching hasn't quite been so good. I guess it's about average but I think he needs City States soon. Or Aristocracy if he so prefers, I don't know if he has put any cottages up. He has as many happiness as I do (cap size 9) so he has pop to do stuff. He still has a lot of land between his own & former jale's land. He also can't really threat me easily, the distances are so high at the moment. Still he is the one to beat, that's for sure.

Either way I'm feeling pretty good of my position, I'd give myself 70% chance to win, 25% to plako and 2,5% to both Dave/Mardoc. We'll see if that prediction ever holds up or not lol.
