There's nothing enlightened about Civ5. So no, you have to switch off DLC - you need a save which only uses DLC everyone has

= ) The main outline of the map is finished and now I'm filling in the details and the resources and pondering balance. However, I am on a romantic vacation at the moment so I do not want to spend that much time on map making. Knowing myself I probably need a deadline so what do you say about this: I'll prioritise finishing the starting areas (I am mostly done with them) and have them ready for you before this weekend. The whole map will be finished before the weekend after that at the latest.

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, don't worry about any of it until your romantic vacation is over. Yes, we'd like to play, but it's more important that YOU play.

I have finished the starting positions.
After googling around, I see that this is a common problem. It is no problem to use map scripts in multiplayer but you can not make custom maps with custom starts without making a scenario in effect a mod. Making a mod requires a bit of work, especially if it is to allow multiplayer as it Civ V does not support Mods for multiplayer which means it would have to overwrite the Civ V install. This is my first attempt at map creation in Civ V so I might have overlooked something. I assumed that you could fix starting position when you use edit the starting position function cause why would you not? It was in the earlier civ games =(
I think I need a bit of technical help right about now.

I didn't find a way to make a custom map for PBEM 3 either. I thought I was missing some obvious way to edit maps, but I guess not.
I actually think we should just go with a random pangea map, perhaps using one of the balance map scripts, like the NQ one. It's too much work for you to do all this, and there's very likely to end up with bugs (we won't be able to test it before starting the game, for example). It'd be fun to play a balanced map, but if we can't do it, playing any map is good enough.
What I did in PBEM 3 was just check to see if anyone got a godlike salt Capital, while someone else got jungled spices + clams. If that was the case, I rerolled the map. After reading a bit more about Civ 5, though, I'm actually liking the idea of playing whatever is rolled.
That said, I'm okay with whatever is decided. And thanks for the work, chumchu.

I have no technical expertise to lend unfortunately. Paging Dr. T-Hawk? Can you help us?
I would be a little heartbroken if we don't get to play on your map, so let's see if there's anyone who can help you sort this out before your hard work goes to waste.

Whatever works best Chumchu! I would love to play on your map, but if it requires so much effort to work, hope you don't mind just rolling a map for us. Thanks for working on it, pity it requires so much effort to do something as trivial as play on a custom map in Civ5...
