And yes, there is coast nearby. Our river feeds into the sea along some floodplains to the south. Colossus might very well be in play.

I like the idea of scouting close surroundings. We wont go double worker in classical understanding. In my tests I was making 2nd worker on size 3 right before settler. There is nothing to so with the worker ealier. So we wont leave unprotected cap.
But if we go straight in one direction with scout we might get wrong view of the shape of the map. Or what is worse we can miss a sign of the bigger threat. Also it seems to me that it is right thing to settle #2 and #3 close to each other. They both arrive between T30 and T40 pretty soon one after another. It allows to share food and other improvements and focus on chopping for quicker further expansion. We will be not ready defend distant outposts by that time. Also I wouldnt neglect maintance. #4 can be settled aggressively in the direction we consider strategic. Having a nice site for colossus (and/or TGLH) is also in my priorites. ![]() There is definitely coast to the north-west and we see coast to the south-west, but we cant know whats there to the west directly. I guess we scout one more turn at least and then make decision what to do. From one side if there is a coast too then we can no longer expect any threat from there but OTOH we must seek for seafood to find a proper spot for our colossus city. BTW sheep is not worth teching animal husbandry. We will be farming floodplains since they all can be watermills potentiall and there is no big difference between 4/0/1 and 4/1/1.
I moved scout to the west. It looks like there is a land passage somewhere or some kind of big peninsula. I think we move there for 1 more turn to get more information about landscape near the coast there and then turn around to scout surroundings.
There is grassland forest deer right after flood plains. Unfortunately I dont see how to settle there without spoiling something. All flood plains are potentially watermillable so I think we cant settle city on the coast there. It will be strange to plant city in such a rich place in a small hope to work coast. So if we want colossus I feel it must be located somewhere else, may be on the passage. Btw, if you see that the turn is up and have a desire to log in do not hesitate to play it.
Silver =) That makes me much more comfortable about early happy in a push for MC before monarchy. We can easily settle a rice/silver city to adress that. Let's hope there is more food around to the east.
I do not see any obvious first city yet but a lot of decent candidates. Nice map design =). How do you feel about a fish/deer city on the incense as the city for an early naval wonder. It has two 5 food tiles/2 hills/3 forest in first ring and 2 more forested hills in the second.

So far place around silver is not very attractive for early settling. Need to find more food.
Incense spot is nice indeed however deer requires animal husbandry to use. We have fishing but it is better to start development from land food. I fully agree with you that there is no obvious place for #2 yet.
We have already revealed 4 luxuries, 2 of them are calendar dependant, but this means that Monarchy will most likely be treated like Feudalism prerequisite only.
