Sorry for not posting instructions. I got the turn to flip right before I went to bed last night so I'll be able to play turns without a sub needed. Thank you again for your willingness to help!

P.S. I'm beat, long day ran well, time for bed!

I saw that last turn rolled at a very convenient time for you so that you got to play early. That`s obviously better than having a spoiled sub playing it.

Turn 085

This is past due.  It took another city to give my lazy reporting a kick in the pants.

To a more popular sport now, David Glierscher from Austria won the men's luge and gets to be the namesake for our next city. I'm not sure how fast the other teams have gotten to the islands, but this is a fantastic location, and increased my overall slider rate with all the 2c trade routes it opened up. It also dominates the island so that there are room for a pair of filler cities on the ends, but Gavagai will have to look farther south for his island city.

Gavagai offered me fish for fish 2 turns ago, and with the IT thread letting slip he's in a turn split, my guess is that he's looking for a friendly neighbor up north while he deals with whatever he has going on down south. That is fine with me, as I'm pushing up against TBS up north. Which unfortunately has hit a bit of a snag...

TBS has snatched all this land up over the last 10 turns, and will beat me to the isthmus spot I had hoped to land. My own settler was whipped out last turn and is probably 3 or 4 turns away, so I'm going to have to settle for just cramming cities up against his ... or at least close enough so that I can hold a line against his Creative ability.

I suppose I could always change my plan of CKN rushing Commodore, and instead send the stack northward...

The plan is to get 3 more cities out and planted by turn 90. This means Lundby is going to 3p whip for a settler on 87 so that it can get to the cow/banana jungle location to it's northeast as my 11th city, and just in time. In time for what you ask?

This is the start of the Hanging Gardens push. I'm not sure if this has much of a chance of being successful. Wonders are starting to fall left and right lately, with Colossus going most recently; Statue of Zeus, Great Wall, Pyramids, and Oracle have all been taken as well. I feel like HG could go any turn, but I really want to get my hands on Great Engineer points -- I don't think so much to bulb Machinery for a CKN push, but more because I want the flexibility to target a later wonder with the engineer. Well, I want the option.

Whipping the capital this turn brings the settler to 129/100, and then natural production means it will finish with 46 overflow. Math finishes at end of turn.

t86 we start the aqueduct. Work both pigs and 3 grass hills for 13h. 59/100h and 23/30f at eot
t87: 72/100h and 28/30f at eot
t88: Swap a pig for the ivory tile. 86/100h and 30/30f at eot, growing to size 6
t89: whip the aqueduct and finish chop+mine on both grass hills. Work all 5 grass mines for 17h. Aqueduct finishes with 86 + 30 + 60 + 17 = 193/100
t90: hook up stone. Chop 3 more forests. 93 + 90 + 17 = 200h * 1.5 = 300/300 HG

I have enough workers in the area to finish the chops, so really we just need to hope that nobody else has a t91 finish time for Hanging Gardens.

TBS planted 4 cities this last turn. FOUR!

He's about to land Hanging Garden, isn't he?

Turn 094

I had been right about TBS about to land Hanging Gardens, but I didn't want to swap off my plan so I ended up wasting about 44 hammers into an aqueduct.  Oh well.  Then I had the idea to belatedly try for The Great Lighthouse.  I figured that if I failed I would at least raise some cash for Currency.  I guess you could say I succeeded?

By the way, that city is a production monster already.  Wish I had 2 more just like it.

My latest two cities, both cramped against neighbors.  I should have put Krueger a tile south, but I didn't think about until after I had moved the settler into the first position, and so I decided it wasn't worth the turn to move it again only to realize belatedly that Commodore now had the idea to cram in a border city -- which he did the last turn.  Commodore is up 1 city on me for now, but I'm about to settle another myself.

By the way, Simen Krueger actually fell during his Skiathlon gold.  And broke his pole.  But the guy still won the race.  So maybe there's a good metaphor there for my city?

The more northern city was named after French mogul skier Perrine Laffont.  I had thought about planting along the coast and trying to claim those tiles, but TBS is cultural and I am not, so it seemed futile to try to nab those spots.

I'm a little short of workers thanks to my push for my won attempt at Hanging Gardens.  I have a few workers finishing over the next few turns, which should help improve the situation ... but I also have a number of settlers coming out too.  Kalla is building a settler to grab the last decent spot in my area, on the coast north of Hyu-Jun.  And I have 2 or 3 filler spots I want to grab sooner rather than later as well.

Next turn I'll have another spot to grab, too:

Can't imagine TBS will love me for that...

Turn 102

Sorry I've been doing a poor job of updating this thread lately. I don't think it's really reflective of my attitude towards this game, but it may be a bellwether for just how much time I've giving towards it. While I'm competitive in city count, I'm flagging in demos over the last 20 turns as my cities are finding it difficult to grow. Either they are trying to chop out of the jungle that I decided to aim for (and then neglected to provide enough of a workforce to enable), or they are capped out at my empire happiness cap of 7 right now -- meanwhile I see from top cities that other players have grown to twice that. Clearly an oversight in my planning, and one I hope to remedy soon.

I didn't plan on going for a religion this game, but after Currency came in I realized that I was only 6 turns from landing CoL. This in turn is another delay to the Machinery tech, and while it will do a little for happiness it will not do a lot without substantial investment. In addition now I need to think about what my next technology is: do I try to alleviate the happiness problem with Calendar or Metal Casting? Do I aim for better defense with Horseback Riding? We're at the point of the game where all the available land is taken and the next step is to smash the weakest neighbor with the juiciest prize. Guess what landing a religion is going to do? Put a giant bullseye on my lacking power score.

With enough time I could get Machinery and CKNs would solve all that. But I don't think my neighbors are going to give me 20 turns.

Oh sure RNG, just rub it in.  Just fucking rub it right in my face.

You know those breaks that just demoralize you?  This is one of them.  Anybody want to take over?

Ouch, that was bad luck. The rng can be cruel sometimes. I hope you fight on anyway.
