EDIT: I thought I knew the formula for upgrading, but I guess I don't. Figures updated from what is shown in game. The price tag balloons like my car at the mechanic's today.

I meant Merchant Confederacy, not Meritocracy before. But with the extra envoys I was able to get to 15 total:


And then with the governor titles I decided to skip Liang and go for more gold with my 3rd governor:





We had an interesting result for the World Congress.




Sadly I had considered voting for banning Great Generals, but I didn't think Woden would block that one! I thought he would prefer us to fight and instead block Scientists.

From a few turns back, this didn't work as I thought.




I mean, I kind of understand why they might choose to have the +2 gold for unimproved tiles not work for mountains, but they are unimproved tiles and that's what the ability says. Oh well.

Hit a golden age last turn. I wasn't too happy with my choices:




Only Reform the Coinage is really worthwhile for me. It does a good job of upping my gold, and it's nice that it will make my traders unpillagable. I'm almost making 100gpt now, with another Commercial Hub finishing in 2 turns.

I did not get nearly enough gold to upgrade everything, but we're out of time there. I'm upgrading as much as possible next turn.

Then I'll do my best to make the lurkers happy.

Since he's watching all the back entrances, I'm just going to go full tilt through the front door. Wish I had another musket up front, but that's my own fault for sending the 3rd warrior up to Yugul. He's heading back south now, for what it's worth. The basic plan is rifles and ranged units hit south directly, and then the heavy cuirs are going to swing around behind and try to hit Threery before the walls go up .... oh, the walls just went up this turn. Well, probably better to just concentrate my force and hit him one city at a time.

Suboptimal's power has gone up a bit, but his gold income is suffering. Meanwhile I'm still making over 80gpt, so we're going to take advantage of using up all my strategic resources by building weaker units (now available) and then upgrading them.

Turns out I'm a bad historian.




Took this screenshot ahead of declaring, to get an image of his troops. Suboptimal has about 1k gold, but he has good defenses and it's going hard to push in to wherever I go. I ended up moving my army towards Threery between his cities. He has Victor in the city on the far east and that city has a more difficult approach. Really, maybe I should have waited for the 2nd bombard, but I dont' think I have time really. In any case, war declared, units moved - I'll give a screenshot next turn.
