By the time we get AH and connect horses
It may be too late for verstappen
We may need to go for archery
And get 2 or so out ASAP
boakToday at 21:11
AH i think we need regardless of whats happening with verstappen
but archery might save us if we can tech it quickly
hereami321Today at 21:15
Which we can
And agreed, so let’s go Archery AH sailing
Also, I think Raikkonen can start on a worker after the barracks and Bortas on a settler
That way our capital is free to do colossus
Whoever is playing as Japan is a clear danger to take MC and colossus to find their push to machinery
boakToday at 21:19
ok
as long as we're constantly pumping workers/settlers from somewhere i guess it doesnt really matter where from
ok i'll jump in and switch to archery
nice
archery in two turns at 100%
hereami321Today at 21:20
That’s perfect
boakToday at 21:20
i feel slightly less bad now
hereami321Today at 21:20
Whip the warrior then
So it OF’s partially into the archer
boakToday at 21:21
yep
hereami321Today at 21:21
(Whip next turn)
We need fog busting
boakToday at 21:21
yep
thats why i started sending the warriors out haha
should have sent one south of verstappen i guess
hereami321Today at 21:22
When does the worker’s chop finish?
boakToday at 21:22
SW of Verstappen?
hereami321Today at 21:22
Yea
boakToday at 21:22
its ready to chop now
but had to move it
hereami321Today at 21:23
Oh unfortunate
Also with archery the warrior in the capital will switch to a spear, without archery it wouldn’t
boakToday at 21:24
oh its archery that makes warrior obsolete?
hereami321Today at 21:24
I think you need both
so i think we'll be ok with archery

To add, I really think colossus is an urgent matter just because it would bring us in 3 extra commerce asap just from clam tiles. We're struggling to research some basic techs from all the city upkeep, so we really need both it and cottages near our capital. Colossus will provide an excuse for our capital to grow out (which settlers/workers won't), and we can work the cottages nearby. Our two northern cities are already reaching the level of development needed to build workers/settlers of their own.

Our empire (minus borsche's crap). We really need to get mp's up and running. I was thinking of building mines with the workers in the west, sending the worker beneath the capital to chop out that last forest for a forge, and get the worker near bottas to either mine or connect to leclerc. Raikkonen can either start on a worker or do an archer in 2 turns to secure our cities a tiny bit for happiness and barb partrol.
In the south,
we did pretty well in the combat side of things, the axe is down to 36hp. Archer will come out next turn and we are pretty much safe.

We've dug ourselves into a ditch economically and I don't like it one bit. We've fallen behind in every parameter and Borsche's city is still costing us a fortune. Also, don't send out any more units, we've started to pay for unit supply with all that fogbusting and we're down 3gpt on unit support costs - 4gpt total. We really need to road to our new city to get even that one extra commerce out. Also, I would probably recommend sending the spearman to Leclerc, that city needs it more than Leclerc for defense purposes. What is our plan now? I haven't really been logging in much.
We have the forge in our capital in 5 turns, and then we have one forest to chop (leclerc has stolen the prechopped one). We're doing 20 hammers a turn after bonuses in the capital, the forge will bump that up to 22, and the chop will come out as 45. That means, if we whip the forge on the last turn, we can get around a 8-9 turn colossus. So overall, colossus in something like 14 turns? We really need to get a move on on sailing, even if it means working 1 food coastal tiles. Probably once the worker near bottas is done farming, it should chop the forest and cottage there. Raikkonen after next turn could be switched to working two shitty coastal tiles instead of the two 4 hammer tiles - we really are getting that desparate for commerce, and a move like that, combined with getting 1 unit back into borders will boost our gold influx by 5/turn.
What's the plan for verstappen after the worker? It can start pumping settlers, but until our dumpster fire econ can support them, we really have nowhere to place them.

we should still be able to get the forest next to Leclerc to chop into the Colossus, unless i'm mistaken, as long as the tile is 'owned' or shows up as workable inthe city, chops will go to it. so we should be able to get 3 chops into it.
im going to let verstappen grow to size 4 first, then probably switch to a worker. i agree that we can't really afford any more cities right now but workers will at least allow us to road out to city sites (and join verstappen to our network) so when we can make settlers we can get out there quicker.
i'm going to let bottas grow this turn as well and then switch to more commerce tiles.

Ok, so we get sailing in 3 turns, which is very nice. We'll be able to get lighthouses along with colossus and our economy will be on track to double our current cities, by which time I hope we have CoL.
@Boak:
Verstappen: Moved 1 worker north to road, since i assumed that's why you didn't want to chop out the forest. I think I moved the worker to mine there for future purpose, but roading may well be more urgent. Other worker is roading the cottage for the future city down south to connect furs
Riccardo: moved worker 1S to chop out that forest. Capital should switch to working the dry corn from bottas next turn, since bottas is now working a mine to finish the archer fast for MP purposes (as fast as getting a unit down there from some other city, which i realized too late having moved an archer from Raikkonen.
Bottas: Moved worker 1s to build mine that bottas and capital can share.
Leclerc is gonna grow in 2 turns and we have mine done there. Really like how that city is turning out. Must go for AH next and connect those chunguses (elephants). 1 worker should probably road there, while the other one chops out the forest that you said will go towards the capital whose forge is done in 2 turns.
We need to whip the capital next turn for overflow. bla bla bla mathy math math
30*2-10 = 50 OF but also production is 20, so 70 into 250. Plus chop is 40+40, so more like 150 into 250, and then we can get one final chop in using the worker near raikkonen for another 40 in 3 turns.
So, like, 8 turns give or take? We should have sailing by then.
Pictures for lurkers
Also yea, no one has still taken stonehenge, we can still do that in verstappen if we really want to, but with sailing TGL will be a far better investment even with the nerf. Also, we probably want to start thinking about great prophets/religion/etc. soon. Merchant is probably less favorable to a priest here, but a merchant GA saved till when we get monarchy for a religion + two civic swap might be a passable use of the great person.

Also, how does civ 4 calculate forest ownership? I checked my civ fanatics bookmarks on my desktop and found a title seemingly relevant...

until I realized it's for civ 3.
Does anyone else miss civ3 by the way or am I the only one
