Free, I can put together a few good class decks out of the cards I've gotten (Mage/Druid/Paladin) but it partly depends on what style you prefer to play. I'm more interested in a control deck and playing big legendaries like Rag or Ysera than an aggro deck so I don't need some essential aggro deck cards. The big problem I've had is playing Shaman in constructed since I unlocked very few of the class cards through packs. Since I particularly enjoy playing Shaman this wasn't the best situation.
Just for completeness here's my current legendaries, somewhat in order of when I got them.
Golden Grommash (disenchanted)
Nat Pagle (disenchanted)
Ragnaros
Sylvanas
Archmage Antonidas
Ysera
Grommash again
Cairne
I currently have around 1400 dust so can craft another legendary soonish depending on how much I play. Will probably opt for either Tyrion or Lord Jaraxxus to buff up my control warlock deck.

I expect it to be particularly nice for the druid matchup at least, which I was wanting to shore up. Considered River Crocolisk too. Actually right now I am trying a trap-less build, because I haven't been running into too much zoo, and the hunter decks all have flares, and the traps are often dead cards. So -2 explosive trap, -1 freezing trap, -1 eaglehorn bow, -1 Mukla (out of necessity), +1 River Crocolisk, +1 Emperor Cobra, +1 Bestial Wrath, +1 Gladiator's Longbow. (Trying out a variety cards for testing, partially.) So far lost one and won four. The loss was to a charge rush hunter who played two bows, so I don't think the cards I took out would have helped at all. Two wins against sunshine hunter or variants, one win against a "cycle" hunter (see: gaara's or reynad's list) and one crazy win against druid where I didn't draw a single buzzard or hounds.
I wonder if 1 Stampeding Kodo is worth running. It's a beast and it's battlecry should pretty good against Zoo, other hunters, and control warrior.
@uberfish: I spent $20 when I wanted to switch from Arena to constructed and because I wanted to support the game. The $20 gave me the cards and dust to make basically every rare/epic I wanted.
edit: Apparently Kolento just got #1 EU with this hunter deck:

Mostly free: I spent some birthday money I got on Arena runs and that's it.

Well, I thought I was a bit ahead of the curve with the lack of traps, but apparently not. Kodo is an idea. Not sure what to take out though, I like all the cards I'm running...

Got to 12 wins for the only second time I can remember earlier today with a Druid, here's the decklist for kicks:
Ironforge Rifleman sucks, but thanks to Brewmaster I was able to get some use out of it. Thanks to a large amount of potent things to Brewmaster, I got a TON of value from them. Deathwing was the primary winner of the last 3~ or so games, especially the last game (Where I faced down a full Shaman field, including a 9/9 Frostwolf Warlord, with only 15 HP...and topdecked Deathwing. His one card in hand was Hex, but he only had 10 HP so I grinded it out, Wrathing a Taunt Totem to let my Hero Power take out the last HP.)

Thanks guys, I'm usually pretty sceptical of trading card games as most of them are pay-to-win but might give this one a look

Sorry but Hearthstone is pay-to-win Maybe not as bad as other games, but it still is.

Arena style isn't pay-to-win, although you probably won't be able to play nonstop unless you're really good.

It just depends on how much Arena you want to be able to play. I play Arena every day and don't spend cash, bit sometimes that means ending a run and needing to wait until the next day to make another.

Like a lot of F2P games, it's not pay-to-win but it is pay-to-win-now. You can build up a reasonable stock of cards to make 2-3 viable constructed decks without too much time and zero money and then slowly build up the rest of your collection via dailies or Arena runs. Or you can spend $50 and get a big card collection or Arena funding pool to start. It's also definitely true that the better you are at the game the faster your collection grows because Arena runs become more profitable.
The worst part of their model is that beginners aren't very good so they accumulate cards very very slowly since they are terrible at Arena. I was pretty frustrated with it at first. But once I got a reasonable base of cards to do dailies and could average 4+ wins in Arena the pace got a lot better.
