And away...we...go!
It's time to shine, shine all golden in the sun. I opted to sandbag a bit on Paper, so I cranked science to 100% to crack the 1k GNP threshold, and then went back down to 80%. Which is a sustainable rate for the duration of the GA, by the way. Still not a patch on the MFG monster in the north, though.
Might need to slow things just a bit more, actually, oh my. VA is hungry and pushing the GPP hard, and in four turns will net us a GS or the Taj Mahal. Question, do starving-to-death specialists give up their points before dying? Moot here, but might be relevant at little later.
Before going all hungry and sad, the Acres built us a nice new caravel, who is going off to the west. Optics reveals that the dark space on the map really does have land; let's see if it's marginal or useful; either way we'll need to claim it for strategic reasons.
I'm planning a couple caravels and my trick galley to do some offensive peacemongering towards the Zulu; how about a trade mission to the great city of Culvers?
I'm sorry Thoth, the money is just too good.
Racing against the capital's immense innate GPP power is hard; in four turns when it stagnates with the mine and coast->scientist, it'll be even harder. The good news is, anything the capital makes, I'll embrace. Unless Great Artist, ewww.

Hydra Fleet is beautiful, and on an exciting mission. And to Verdant Acres and Western Heights.

As for the starvation, well, that's a golden age for you. Brutal death camps to make great people; and oh by the way, Mr. Slowcheetah popped a Great Merchant. So the Liberalism race is on! I'm looking to the future and building up some good GPP piles elsewhere, too.
But we also, hat tip to Thoth, need sentries. Sandhurt is crankin' dat soldier boy all in de...drydocks? Anyway, caravel for potential gall(eon/ey) attack detection.
Sentry in the land spotted our first Mayan knight, although I'm sure more are kicking around. Yokib is annoying over there, but best not to poke the bear in this case, particularly given his Dutch horse trade...killing the city would mean more knights, not less.

So here's the news of foreigners this turn:
-Xenu is out of a GA, no clue if that matters.
-Serdoa is finishing up eating Brick, soon he and Plako will be dominant, and neighbors.
-Bigger is whomping the tar outa Azza, it seems.
-Slowcheeta is about to run a trade mission and make Liberalism a race.
Also visible, I'm going to settle a new city next turn.
Okay, turning on tech and not sparing the horses, here's the Kingdom of Generica in a golden age. GNP is beating Slow nicely, MFG is almost at Serdoan levels, and CY isn't terribly far from Plako. Now let's just translate this into snowballing tangible advantages.
Firstus, we have to ensure our safety. To that end, we're knocking out more cats, because while you can have enough cats, merely 7 isn't "enough". Enough overflow is into Stoney Knob to keep the cats coming at a 2t for the rest of the golden age. Apparently, the golden age has seen a doubling of even prairie dog orders.
Soon, we'll be finishing a market in The Greenways, that's another 6gpt from the shrine and 20gpt from wealth-building. We're going to be at 100% for a good long while, I think.
Desert is good, right? The Greenways look so nice, I put down a dot for more desert, honoring the soon dead Vikings. Looks like marginally more useful, or at least less useless, isles are still to come; good deal. Strategically vital in the "not getting randomly owned by Aztec or French galleons" department.
North's Corner just had a border pop, so a galley is getting routed to search for useful furs, silver, or...hills? down here. We're going to need to cram every marginally useful city we can manage onto these fringes to keep up with the bigger empires. Fortunately, I love craming marginal cities!

So as I understand it, your short term goals are to race for Liberalism and produce GP for either wonder-snagging, bulbing, or another GA? What's your view of the Liberalism race? What would you sling / what would you do if beaten? What does Warmonger Commodore think about the medium term? Can I get a unit named after me? Will I ever stop asking questions?

Oh yes. Oh yes oh yes of YUUSH.
The rewards:
Quote:1.convert 20 own cities to your state religion
2.gain a temple in every city size 5 or more
3.get one great prophet unit
Wow. So either invest in AP/UoS/SM and get an instant monk economy, or get a half a golden age, for doing something I want to do anyway. Ummm yes.
Rest of the update provided by Sisu:

What's your view of the Liberalism race? What would you sling / what would you do if beaten? Yep! VA goes hungry, and if it's the 89% odds GS, we'll bulb almost all the rest of Education, dropping Liberalism down to four turns. If it's the 11% GE, then it's going to take a leetle more time on Liberalism (but still can beat Slowcheetah there), but slinging Nationalism nets me an instant Taj Mahal which means another golden age.
(April 20th, 2013, 23:38)Sisu Wrote: What does Warmonger Commodore think about the medium term? He's quite happy, the time for fun large-scale war is over. Our next goal is expansion and maintaining the front; at least four of the needed 10 more landmasses are in this western archipelago. I expect to battle Slowcheetah here; this is some increasingly nice-looking land. And it's big!
(April 20th, 2013, 23:38)Sisu Wrote: Can I get a unit named after me? Will I ever stop asking questions? Yes, and never stop. Still pumping out lots of units to maintain the fronts; I'm considering the viability of a galleon expedition to steal Azzaland...Serdoa joined in the war, so I feel safer in the northeast, but Azza will be crumbling soon.
Finally, we've finally built a new city! Very need a few dozen more and we can maybe still match Plako/Serdoa.

Is it even possible on this map for you to meet the quest of cities on 13 different landmasses without going to war with somebody to capture theirs?

Pssh! This is Commodore we're talking about: - Commodore's ringtone is the Civ4 war horns.
- Commodore's car has the Blitz promotion.
- Commodore doesn't wake up, he declares war on the morning.
