played the turn last and let it roll. Offered the aenid to azza for peace. would be thrilled if he took that offer - the aenid is our least important city and will never have a huge production or commerce potential, and it would allow us to keep beowulf.
I expect him to count offer with 3 cities for peace, of course, but who knows - lets see what his price is anyway. depending on what he does, may offer beowulf alone next turn. maybe both the following turn. stall stall stall to get 2nd iron city online.
judaism spread this turn in volsung, we've had 4 free spreads, only beowulf is pagan
doesnt help volsung much though, just makes me wish more we had founded in the 2 fish site .
I took 8 or so pics, ill dump them on you in the morning. I need sleep.

lol. btw, I wanted to continue moving odysseus south, but since both you and Lewwyn preferred him returning north I took your advice.
he'll take 5 turns to get back to that hill (4 after this one) but if the war is still ongoing we might just surprise azza .

ok, im last to play and getting pestered by a couple of people to play my turn, hehe. I just woke up a few hours ago to find myself last to play Lewwyn is on a long train ride atm so I'm playing it on my own... I admit I'm stalling a bit so he'll be back for the next turn. I'm gonna go ahead and post my previous turn report I never did and then play it. In the mean time, I know at least azza didn't capture beowulf (or accept my peace treaty for the aeneid) as we had no score decreases on civ stats during his turn.
Beowulf:
odysseus:
I'd like to slow build this in 3 turns. but depending on what azza does I may have to whip and overflow into another archer. it will have an axe in there but ill need archers to defend against chariots if azza advances.
It took me 15 minutes to decide which tiles to work with Gilgamesh:
1 turn the archer so we can start a settler next turn. ill whip the settler as soon as we're able. I was going to chop into it but lewwyn had the worker set to move towards making a road instead of going to the forest, and I didn't catch it before it moved.
anyway, this is the minimum hammers needed to build the archer in one turn. I decided to work the cottage over the crabs for the extra commerce to get HBR done quicker. I could have worked the plains cottage over the wheat, but didn't want to starve it too much since it will need food soon to recover from the whip.
The Iliad:
again, I could have worked 2 cottages and still grew. but we may have to whip again so I wanted more food in the box. and gilgamesh couldnt work this rice without delaying the archer a turn.
demos with 100% science turned back on. I expect our gnp to be dipping soon, hah lucky the silver comes online shortly.
MFG demos are encouraging. azza has whipped like crazy to get his army togethor, but it has hurt his long turn production.
here's the peace deal I offered azza that must have been refused. maybe he refused to look around and see if we lost units, saw we didn't, and re offerred? If so I'll accept when I log in
this is the demos at the start of new turn. 2nd place had a big jump in GNP. commodore must have researched a classical tech, he had a huge score jump at the roll of turn and took over first place in score for the first time this game.

somewhat encouraging that he isn't asking for the odyssey too. im at a loss, though. azza's praet is dead, with no damage to our archer:
this is where it gets interesting, and complicated:
ok, so azza attacked with his praet. our uber archer here, poseiden, defeated the praet without even taking a single point of damage!!!
so the archer got 2 experience points and can promote to either city guard 2 or drill. CG2 is better, I guess, drill if there's a chance we would need to attack out with him.
azza has his horse archer and injured axe on the hill there. the stack north of beowulf has 4 chariots and 2 spears.
so here's my dilemma. I don't think azza can take beowulf the way things stand, and he's whipped his cities so reinforcements (horse archers or praets) are gonna be slow coming in. he could still take it if he was slow and waited for reinforcements - the archer its building takes 5 turns and we don't really have a way to speed that up. but if that were his plan, i would be fine with the war continuing, we'll get pig/iron city hooked up before too much longer. my big worry is that he ignores beowulf and continues north.
the aeneid has a whipped archer that will have to stay put. im not worried about the aeneid falling, its not that important atm.
the odyssey, however, is important. it has an axe and can whip an archer this turrn. overflow into another archer that would complete in one turn, i think. so thats 2 archers, 1 axe defending before azzas stack could reach if he didn't wait on the axe (horse archer and the spears/chariots would reach it next turn). err, no, i guess he could attack before the second archer completed, so an axe and an archer defending only, thats even worse .
the archer from the iliad will take 3 turns, so could get there if he diverted to the aeneid but not if he beelined to the odyssey .
so I need input from waterbat and harry here. The longer the war continues the more azza will make mistakes, I think. he's already made 2 and sacrificed a praet and an axe without hurting us. but I also don't want to get greedy and lose the odyssey. he'll probably raze it and pillage the area which would really set back our development . and the way his stack is composed im not sure we can attack out any .
sorry commodore and brick, this turn will take awhile, heh.

I believe that you cannot have a trade route with someone when you are at war, so resource trades are never available as part of a peace treaty.

eh, side effect of azza pillaging the road north of beowulf: we lose trade routes in beowulf, and more importantly lose gold in every other city. lucky silver comes online empire wide in 4 turns.

i may just offer him beowulf only. beowulf is the prize, he can't want the aeneid. and he won't benefit much from crashing the odyssey, even if he hurts us. then I can consider offering him both at the end of the next turn. every turn we can work the gold mine puts us that mujch closer to HBR, and the delay in peace allows us more time to get iron online and pump out horse archers and axes..
another problem: since he pillaged the road, if he moves towards the odyssey and we decide to attack out, only the chariots can do so, the axe and spear won't be able to reach .

random thing: we lost our trade connection with commodore. so perhaps it was just a bug, I dunno.
