Exciting. Let's ask both parties what's going on!
Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

Oh hell yes.
We Play Civ has done nothing but spam military all early game. Their economy is awful. Even if (when?) they take German cities, they won't be able to afford them. WPC also is nowhere remotely close to catapults, and they'll be attacking into the heavy culture of the German team. This is exactly the sort of idiot play that I expected from some of the other teams. We just needed that lunacy aimed at a taget that is not us, which is exactly what we've achieved. Anyone want to email the German team and suggest they build archers and not axes? It couldn't hurt, and mass archers hiding in cities behind cultural defenses should stop dog soldiers cold.
Or even better give a hint to the Germans that if they have horses, they could find some chariots very handy.
Note that if we give warning to the Germans in some form we will in some way commit with the Germans vs WPC. I know our team is pretty bad in the metagame against the Germans due to the timer, so do people want to do that?
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width
Or, and this is the professonionally paranoid spymaster speaking here, WPC saying war against the Germans is just a smoke screen - they intend to give some level of safety and declare on us instead.
We'll need to keep track of their in-game actions first before doing anything, I think.

Wait, early war is bad?
“The wind went mute and the trees in the forest stood still. It was time for the last tale.”
If they are declaring on the Germans, I hope the Germans are put in the first half and then it doesn't matter if they don't hit enter ... or does it?
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I disagree with all this underhanded scheming.
We don't need to do anything to turn this to our advantage. It's already great. There is no need for us to betray either of these guys in any way, no matter how small. Just wish them both good luck and try to get them to tell us what's going on as much as possible. The one possible bad outcome to avoid here is that they sign a peace treaty and then one or both come after us. So let's make sure we have short-term NAPs with both teams. Easy enough to set up if we don't have them; offer them 20t of guaranteed peace as a gesture of non-interference with their war. Metagame issues of delaying the turn aside, I see no reason that we would want to offer any aide whatsoever to the German team. WPC is in no shape economically to do anything with conquered cities in the short to medium term. When did they tech pottery? I seem to recall fairly recently. No cottage development to afford maintenance let alone benefit much from holding far-flung cities. It will be all they can do to use captured city gold to finance their military outside their borders. I see no reason to help the Germans. This shapes up very well for us as is. Let's keep a watchful observer in the warzone. Rename a unit for Mostly_Harmless or some such player. (November 24th, 2012, 15:34)SevenSpirits Wrote: I disagree with all this underhanded scheming. Agree with SevenSpirits here. Lets stay neutral. No helping any side unless specifically asked for. Then we can decide. Focus on expanding. And planning to position the odd additional axe up in our north. After all, if peace breaks out again up there, at least one of our neighbours will end up with a lot soon-obsolete potentially-promoted units with nothing to do. mh

Also some war news. WPC can see German graphs. Germans cannot see WPC graphs currently.
German WW is already clocked with 3. Found only a vanilla WW explanation post from 2006. Not sure WW mechanics were changed in BtS? By that post WW3 could be explained by: Their unit attacks your unit =+2 Your unit is captured=+2 Each turn =-1 =3 Rival average soldier points in the demographics has indeed dropped by 2000 points! mh
