Serdoa kicking ass. 3 cities AND stonehenge. 2 1/3 traits for Serdoa. Man is going to be tough.
ruff is getting his 2nd settler out - how do I know? it's heading right for my scout. I didn't grab a screenie.
tarkeel has 3 cities, too.
everyone has mysticism - no one I know has pottery, which is my next target.
46 has to be serdoa and his 11 CPT from stonehenge researching pottery. He's kicking ass so far.

How has serdoa gotten 2 settlers and stonehenge? if he had the full imp bonus on both settlers, that's 66 *2 hammers + 120 for stonehenge + 60 for at least one worker + 10 for a warrior (which I've seen).
That's 132+120+60+10 or 322 hammers. He's whipped twice for 1 pop each time.
I have 100 for a settler, 120 for 2 workers, 60 for 2 WB +20 for 2 warriors or 320. But then, he almost certainly has at least 2 workers - so I guess he hasn't built WB? Some of this, of course, is that he got city #2 out 10 turns ahead of me and I presume he chopped henge into there. Its an impressive start.

A high level view of where people are:
Ruff is expanding towards the center, which is good. I think he placed his 2nd city essentially the same place I did, but on the tundra forest, which is a good choice, too. Might have been better, I dunno.
His 3rd city is in a place I can't put mine, because he moved his cap. It's not as strong as my 3rd city will be,though. I'll build a granary right at the start and it's going to have plenty of food and hammers.
I should say that I should get my next settler in 3 turns and a couple of more to move him. My plan is to use the worker at the cap on city #3 (Haley), the worker currently at Durkon to chop/road some in the cap to get city #4 up on going soonest and have Durkon build it's own worker - probably grow to size 4 or 5, whip out a granary, overflow into a worker, then finish off the worker manually. City make 6 hpt at size 3, 13 foodhammers, which is just awesome.
Debating how to name workers - if the cities are major characters (OOTS, Linear Guild, Team Evil), I guess the workers should be minor characters.

I renamed the workers. The one up by Durkon was renamed to Eugene. Eugene Greenhilt is/was Roy's father, who was a wizard (and thus does not really approve of Roy being a fighter) and who is dead (and has died multiple times before it stuck) In some ways, he's the reason this whole quest exists, since it's his unfinished business that Roy is trying to fix. He appears from time to time, usually to be yet another annoyance to Roy (as opposed to the annoyance he feels at all his team mates or the various monsters he fights).
The one that will go to Haley is named Sigdi. Sigdi is Durkon's mom, who is pretty awesome. She can pretty take on anyone despite having lost an arm years ago. We learn a lot about her later in the comic, so most anything I saw is pretty spoilerish
interestingly, I was going to make Blackwing and MrScruffy workers.... but they really deserve to be cities - Mr Scruffy has more comic appearances than anyone but the actual order and Blackwing is right behind. That said, Team Evil and the linear guild will be cities before the animals.

Tarkeel Dow'd and moved in with his scout. Hopefully, he's not going to step on my cow on the way.
Met Superdeath's scout down by Serdoa. He's at 3 cities, too. I seem to be slow in my expansion.

Tarkeel has been polite and did not step on my cow.
Some micro (because everyone loves pictures of micromanagement!!)
Roy produced the settler for Haley - Sigdi chopped the blocking forest, which will flow into a WB and will then flow into a granary.
I have 12 in and it gets 27, which is 39, which means it overflows 9 hammers. Roy makes 6 hammers a turn, so it gets to 27 in 4 turns or 33 in 5. I have that long to decide whether I 2 pop whip and overflow a lot into a settler or 1 pop whip and overflow not very much into a settler, but keep working the cow. I'm leaning towards the 2 pop whip, but we'll see.
Durkon is at 13/15 on the warrior, so will overflow 4 hammers into a granary. It makes 6, so will be at 30 in 5 turns (34, to be precise), but I think I'll probably 2 pop whip just before, overflowing into a settler. that loses the copper for a few turns, but we'll survive. I am sure there has been extensive analysis that shows this is either a good idea or a bad one Eugene moved to the forest hill 2 S of Durkon and will road that before moving on to Roy.
The settler moved here. It moves 2S next turn and settles on T48. The WB made in Roy will head south and do a small amount of exploration, but needs to be ready for netting the fish in 7 turns, so there's not a lot it can do.
Sigdi will move S to the forest (1), chop (3), SE and road (2), to the sheep. This seems to be the most efficient way of improving, since Ican't get Sigdi down there fast enough to make pasturing the horse right off worth it (I'll be netting the fish very fast). Haley will go granary first, using the forest hill for several turns to get enough hammers banked so that when I get to size 2, I can whip immediately. Then, between the fish and the sheep, Haley should grow extremely fast.
In foreign news:
This is Serdoa's north. He has gold, which is nice - I've seen more than 2 silvers, so I am guessing there is plenty of gold and gems around that I haven't seen - I dunno - a lot to this map to discover. But it's not all symmetrical, is really the point
This is Ruff - he has rice where I have wheat. I sort of expect to find Jowy to the east of ruff, where my scout is headed. The scout is really coming back to check out the north coast there.
Some thoughts on dot mapping the river.
As you can see, I am not sure how to dotmap the river basin
I have 2 plans and an idea.
The plans are the yellow dots and the blue dots. I don't much like either of them. The idea is the orange dot, which gets me a strong city with wheat, 2 FP, silver, horse and incense. I don't know how the rest fill in.
I need to know more about that coast along there, because seafood will inform my choices.

Founded Haley. Haley is the self-appointed 2nd in command of the Order. She might be the only female in the group most of the time - a neutral-good-ish thief. Favorite phrase is "Sneak Attack!" (or "Sneak Attack, bitch!", especially Crystal). Once spent most of a book talking in cryptograms that no one could understand (and forum goers spent a lot of time decoding), only to come out of it when forced to confront her feelings towards another party member (ok, Elan). Haley is pretty competant, quite greedy and has a change of clothes as necessary, but she's not really much of a leader, as Belkar points out. She has possibly the best solution to the old "one guard lies and one tells the truth" puzzle I've ever seen
I think Haley gets 1 turn of the PH, then works the horse until size 2. I'm not sure.
Tarkeel and Serdoa are BOTH to 4 cities. Tarkeel is industrious and Organized and is keeping up with Serdoa - but serdoa has stonehenge. What am I missing?

Turn 50:
3 cities
2 granaries
2 pastures
1 camp
2 fishing nets
3 warriors
2 workers
I am down mysticism and now buddhism - I think I'm up pottery on a bunch of people.
Serdoa has a GNP of 60 - 1/4 of that is culture, but it's still huge. I presume that's mainly the effect of his gold. Which is interesting, because it clearly isn't the same as me or Ruff. So, balanced, but not the same. I'm guessing his city #4 is to the SE, where I have a copper/fish site, which I won't be able to get if Serdoa doesn't move his warrior. At least until I send a chariot down there...
On the plus side, working the gold will cut into Serdoa's ability to grow. On the minus side, he's got gold he's working. Its a great tile.

Bunch of turns today.
This is my current dot map for the river lands. This is a difficult spot to map - the river is great, lots of resources, but poor in food and 3 of the resources are on tundra, which is a downgrade. I think light blue is next - settler can settle pretty quickly that way. It's not a great city site and maybe I should go direct to orange, but I think this is a good choice - develops quickly and has a bunch of cottageable tiles. It may be that I should be going SE, I dunno.

Turn 54 - Ruff is up to 5 cities. I'm not sure who got buddhism - I suspect serdoa, because he has everything.
2 turns to sailing. I'm not sure what is next - might be writing, for math->currency. Might be metal casting, for collosus, but I think I might get beat to that by tarquin via oracle. At some point, I need to pick up iron working.
This is a site I'm looking (for some time down the road). It might not be possible, with Ruff expanding so aggressively - he might beat me there.
