[Spoilers] TheArchduke will peacefully build Seowons as Korea

Turn 44

Switch over to Colonization and Agoge.

Finish Archery and EE, continuing to Currency and State Workforce.

Current plan is a brutal 5t settler out of HG, which teams up with my eastern warrior towards the northern site which can actually grow without builder input and closes off the valley.
I am unsure about the Seowon of North Site though.

Holmgard: Settler (5t) -> Archer (3t)
Hammerdal: Monument (5t) -> Settler (1t) -> Archer (chop) -> Settler (chop)

The settler out of Hammerdal should establish a AH site, plan subject to change.
Magnus is in Hammerdal in 5t so it all lines up. Need to check sites for Commercial Hubs and Industry Zones. Government Plaza is an issue for discounts.

Shame I did not go north earlier.
It enables me to grow a bit quicker and still get out the settler in 4 turns.

I keep 3 builder charges for chopping down forests near Hammerdal and will use one for the camp to get my gold income up as I need every coin I get for tile purchases. Crassus might be a real catch this game.

It might be wise to go Ancestral Hall after all, thanks to having River Goddess.

The great news is that my warrior can return for a settler escort, as the layout surrounding me is quite clear.
Only question is if I want to lead and early 4 warrior expedition for conquest. It could be worth it but my shot up the tech tree will things make difficult.

Up to now I am content with my micro. Era Score is however an issue. I will probably stuck in a normal age by a hair.

The mirrored landbridge and the CS to the north verify my gut. This is one heck of an isolated start.

Someone REALLY wanted to make sure that a rush is unviable.

Things progress as planned.

I camp the deer for 2 gold as I plan more strategic tile purchases for seowon placements.

Any investment in military must serve a very clear purpose. I am a bit strained for time, but for barb and eureka purposes I need 2 warriors and 3 archers, nothing more. There could be a point made for 3 more warriors for a conquest of a CS. I am not seeing a quick warrior conquest though, it is too far away.

In 3 more turns the fun begins.smile

P.S.: Damn, I should have postponed currency until I can secure PP for a golden age. Hopefully this is not going to bite me lateron.

Not much to report, I am planning and sheming.

Turn 49

This is a huge turn and will lay the groundwork for the next phase of our expansion.

First I finish my second settler and second monument.

Then Hammerdal starts a settler and chops it out with 2 charges right in the same turn.

I then think very hard where I want to go next and I decide upon another settler in the capital at 9t. A third warrior is essential to protect myself from barb raids and I do not want an archer as he needs 2 more turns and costs 1 gold. And I want to save every penny I have for tile buys. Those will have to wait on PP for the -20%? Not really possible.

I hope I got everything right, I am doing the report in retro the morning after. The pressing question now is, where do I settle?

The north is easy. I want the spices, the stone and the copper in as close as possible and if I settle right next to the mountain it makes my settlements in the east stay close to the river.
The campus however is very difficult, there are 3 very good locations, I lean towards N2 to boost the copper tile with science since I want to work it for sure.

Amenities are an issue soon as well, it might be prudent to establish a spice plantation with the last charge of my worker.

Another possibility is to wait two turns, slot in Ilkum and switch Holmgard over to a worker and chop out a new worker out of Hammerdal. In that case I would need to buy a forest tile west to prepare for the GP bonuses and more importantly as not to loose forested hill NW of Hammerdal.
Scrap that, the tilepicker will have a replacement forest in 7 turns.

The East is vastly more difficult.

There is a lot to take in there.

Eastsea:

+ Horses
+ +2Icon_Food tile with 4 yields overall (yes on this map this is a plus.)

- Long supply line in regards to barb defense
- Seowon would waste a forest as I can not chop it.
- No decent 2nd district location that does not waste 1 science.

I am actually trying to optimize my forests here. crazyeye

Fillerbythesea:

+ great seowon location

- slow to grow due to lack of fresh water
- needs tile buys to get going with mines
- Seowon would waste a forest

Valley

+ Very close
+ Seowon boosts possible mine tiles of Hammerdal
+ safe tobacco plantation

- No food whatsoever till the seowon is established
- Needs worker input for farms as I need to chop down the forests to farm next to the seowon

Eastaqueduct + Eastcanal

+ Great defensive location
+ If moved east, an aqueduct city and an early Canal.

- No really good seowon location

Horseharbor

+ horses
+ possible tilebuy of 2 seafoods to go into harbors or grow city
+ good early seowon

- Seowon would waste a forest
- Long supply lines

It is really a question of a pasture makes sense. I would delay my progress by quite a bit and would research or sandbag techs. Also the builder charge could be used for something else. I am really on the fence here.

Really nice job with the early development thus far.

I think settling one of the two horses is the right play. I can detour to irrigation that way.

Fantastic, my quick research means district discounts will be an issue, which I can mitigate with cheap seowons.

3 unlocked districts, 2 built. So the GP needs to wait until the Seowon is built at the northern site.

@williams482:

Thanks although I doubt I can keep up with thrawn´s micro approach longterm.
