I expect one of those neighbors will burn that city as soon as they have a settler ready. There's useful tiles in here, so I don't expect it to last long. Famous last words, maybe?

I have a mission/goal that I'm not sure how to go about accomplishing. I would like to acquire a Galleon. Just one would be plenty. The reason is simple - there are a couple tiny Astro islands just west of my Exile Island. They're empty, and they have room for like 2-4 cities. They'd be a perfect permanent retirement home for me.

The problem of course is how to acquire one. Teching Astro will take approximately as long as this game will to end, so that's out of the question. I don't think I can realistically generate enough great people to bulb my way there.

What I do have though is plenty of cash flow to afford an upgrade. I'd only need 1! I just cannot figure out how to negotiate this via AI diplo. I could easily gift Gavagi a Galley, have him upgrade and return it, and pay him for the upgrade + a small upgraders fee. Seems perfectly fair. Any idea how to do it? I have half a mind to simply gift him the galley, exact amount of $$ needed to upgrade as lump sum, and then something like 3gpt for 10T or whatever, and hope he doesn't pocket it. If it was a player I knew better I'd probably chance it, but Gavagi is a bit of a mystery at times, so I have no idea how he'd react. Any lurker opinions on this?

This is allowed ?
We at CF don't allow unit gifting, if you can't built the unit - is unit gifting active anyway ?

Yeah, this proposed deal seems pretty clearly outside of AI diplo by its typical definition. Though it would be neat if Civ7 let you trade units for gold and let you wage proxy wars while keeping your hands clean smile

I thought gifting units isn’t allowed if the recipient can’t build them themselves yet. Or I am mixing this up with the rules from German PB games, not sure.

I don't know if there are rules against it. In the absence, my assumption would be its in your court to try and communicate using AI diplo rules.

I see no rule listed for unit gifting for this game. However, this skirts the line of the more general fairness principles, so I'm not going to do it. I'll just have to stare wistfully at the islands I cannot reach. Especially since Gavagi is an outright contender in a tight game right now.

But have you considered that I really want one.

Unit gifting is normally de facto banned, so it would not be allowed.

That being said, I also really want you to have one.

That's the spirit. Here's what could happen if Ramk Has The Courage.

Petition to move my city to one of those islands, give me a million EPs and a peak wall, and turn me into the defacto observer civ.
