Alright, I'm set! Game plan as follows:
1) Klackon units suck against lairs, and so do most summoned units I can get for a long time. I'll try to focus on heroes for lairs, meaning trying to save all XP from easy lairs and neutral cities for my heroes, as well as making sure to always have enough cash on hand.
2) I'll be using spearmen against the AI quite a bit, eventually moving up to Stag Beetles for better survival rate. I think I'll pass on swordsmen and halberdiers, they're just too expensive for what I get.
3) I'll focus on heavy expansion as klackon cities can be made productive rapidly. Mid-game I want to be able to crank out stag beetles en masse to take over nice mana producing cities from enemy wizards.
4) High focus on economy buildings. The smallest cities will produce settlers and garrison units, the biggest cities will get Fighter's Guilds and produce Stag Beetles once they reach size 10-12 or so.
5) I'll put Engineers to good use, klackons don't suffer a cost penalty on engineers so I can crank these out in no time.
6) Standard defense will be a whole bunch of spearmen in most cities, with a single stag beetle in mid size cities as soon as I can afford that.
7) Initial build will look as follows: Granary, Marketplace, Farmer's Market, Spearmen (for exploration), Shrine, Spearmen, Settlers.
Let's roll!
