[SPOILERS]Brian Shanahan comes late to the party.

Settler 2 is on the way. We must micro manage.

Ok the turn.

First despite what I said I stopped the worker on the FP workshop this turn. I believe he farmed for two turns, and marked the tile as such. I sent out the escort warrior this turn too.

Next I whipped the settler. To get the best hammer return on the overflow, I've gone deer/corn/mine with the 3 citizens. That and the chop should put us over the top.

My two scouts will soon meet up. Scout 1 (in the south) will go East after this turn, while Scout 2 will go south west, before doubling back and seeing what's directly west of Stand Idle.

As regards demogs, we've gone significantly up on Scooter, and I don't think he invested anything in us. Back to equal weightings with EPs. We've also seen some interesting movements in demographics and score, not least due to me whipping 2 pop:

We're gone way down in food and GNP, not too unexpected, but we're still not last here. Somebody is really emphasisng hammers. We're still fairly respectable in soldiers, and after founding the cities should be back up tops in land area.

As regards the cities, thinking about it made me conclude that incense site is strongest for now, so I'll settle that then deernamyte.

Kj, could you catch the save for me tonight, if it comes up? Not feeling the best, and will probably avoid the internet all night.

Probably not - my daughter caught a stomach bug.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, hope she gets well soon. But thanks for playing the game at the same time.

I was wrecked yesterday, and had done damage to my leg the previous evening, seems I need practise getting off the bus.

In better news I passed my Christmas exams. So woohoo on that.

Playing the save now, will post this evening.

That didn't take long did it? We're in 26something0BC at the moment and things are hotting up.

First of all the city of Macanta (no siniu fadas in this forum software, and sticking them in on Civ is a pain) was founded, woohoo!

As you can see I'm winging it, and not very attentatively. I've a worker mining a hill, and moved the warrior to the wrong tile. These are both suboptimal to say the least, and smokeduhsmokebanghead to be accurate. Ah well. I'll pull up my socks tomorrow.

Oh and as regards the Ryan family usenames (to distinguish between different Ryan families) I haven't even come close to getting out of my home parish of approximately 2,500 people yet!

As regards my scouting it went:

Some nice land down south of the lake there.

Espionage:

I'm focusing on Lewwyn for the next few turns, as I'm holding my advantage on Scooter, and Serdoa and Commist are too far away for the moment.

Now for the espionage and demographics info-dump. I'm relying on Kj for interpreting this stuff as, aside from the very basics, I'm pants:

All shots here are from after the turn, and there is an obscure reference to Top Gear in the name for one of them.

Looks good! Make sure you assign the FGH being mined to Macánta and not Stand Idle, so we get the WB out ASAP.

After writing. I'll be killing research for a few turns when it comes in.

Two turn report again.

Played the first at 8:45 yesterday morning played the second a half hour ago. The reason lies in the tech thread.

But anyways we've gotten writing in, but I didn't kill research yet. At 80% we're breaking even on two cities, so another turn of research is fine by me. Next turn, when city 3 comes in I'll kill it short term.

Ok first the land:
2620BC:

The first is the whole revealed world at the end of that turn, with some city placement ideas. The ones with question marks are either placements that could be better done (e.g. the whale spot) or reach spots that I may not get (down south mostly). Most sites are either strong resource grabbers or decent defensive spots, some are both.
The second shot is the state of my empire.

I should have moved out the second warrior this turn. I will the next. He'll do in the south at the moment for sentry work.

In case you're wondering over the date in that shot, I date from after I end the turn, and as last player the date rolls over when I end turn. This is just showing the resources availabe west of the whale. It also means that the whale is well in our sphere of influence, being much closer on our west than the eastern one is to Lewwyn.

Demographics:
[Image: Demogs2620.jpg][Image: Demogs2560.jpg]
Sandbagged the research a bit to get the bananas worked this turn. My research isn't that big at the moment, as I'm going min/max next turn. Food is important in Macanta, so that gets priority. As the borders only expanded at eot I couldn't work the fish. My MFG needs a bit of work, but soon with city 3 on-line and a few more workers out, that will grow up again. Being joint first in soldiers is nice for now, but I need to get the copper on line and build a few axes, also get horsies and build a few chariots, and maybe even a few spears as well. I'm planning on playing fairly defensively early on, so get out cover forces and make myself too hard of a nut to crack while I expand into all that juicy land is the goal.

Finally EPs:
[Image: EPs2620.jpg][Image: EPs2560.jpg]
We're catching up on Lewwyn now and will have visibility on his graphs soon. A few turns emphasisng Serdoa to get the same for him after that and then working the long haul on ComMist to get their graphs too.

All in all I'm pretty happy with what I've done so far (with much help from KJN, thanks). I need to get myself in shape defensively, and keep whipping out my expansion as well. IMP plus quicker happiness recovery from the whips is really nice.

As regards techs I'm not too sure what need's attention. CoL would be a nice early push, not for the religion mainly, but for the SAs. We could also go with a religious tech, maybe Mono for the 'Mids to get our research and happy through the roof relatively early.

And as regards winning it, I plan on holding my land early on, and seeing where I could get a tech edge and exploiting that for all it's worth.

Checking the latest save right now:

Macánta should pick up the FGH that is being mined right now, so it can get its fish online as soon as possible.

Stand Idle is at 1/18 food, 0/10 hammers (if it builds a warrior).By going max food it can grow in 2, with 3/20 in the box. Pick up the village at size 5, for +9 food. That will get 12/20 food and finish the warrior (if I get my calculations correct).

Then maybe go max yields on a worker for a turn, and 2-pop whip it, overflowing to a settler or another worker. I think I'd prefer the latter, really.

FWIW - one reason I was apprehensive about settling Deernamite so early is worker support. I didn't realise it then, but at the 2620 BC save it sticks out like a sore thumb.
