WLP, you're withdrawing because no one is pairing up with you? If I'm understanding right. To be honest, though some people have declare pairs, I've been unclear on how a green and mentor are supposed to pair up. I kind of thought we'd wait for the number of players to be determined, get sign ups, and then just randomly assign teams/pairs, so I haven't been saying anything.
I'm just doing my best out here.

No interest either means a potential pairing isn't engaged enough to be following this every day, or else people are looking for someone with a higher level of experience and play, so either way it's not going to work. You have no interest in the game, or you think that no-one has interest in you as a mentor?
Because if it's the latter, I'd take you (subject to agreement from my new partner, ipecac). The areas of my game that need improvement are Micro, Metagame, Mod specifics, and Military. I can see from your PB18 thread that you can teach me stuff about the first three, and even though you tend pacifistic, doesn't mean you don't have tonnes more MP experience than I do in that arena.
I didn't try to grab someone specific because I wasn't sure that was what we were doing rather than randomising once we had a full roster.
Edit: ninja'd!

Ah, ok, I'll be back in it then! I just misunderstood how this worked, I thought people were pairing up here ad hoc before the game was starting. Sorry for being a drama queen.
I don't even mind being in a team that's more of a partnership than a mentor relationship, though I really don't want the responsibility of being a main turn player right now. And let's be real, the only thing I can compete with Mackoti with in a fair fight is English spelling and grammar.

Me too, which is why I'd rather play with[/quote] no mod, but I can deal with it.

I don't think I'm skilled or experienced enough to qualify as a mentor, but I'll try to dedlurk one of the people without one and at least try to provide some help with early city management, various trade-offs, etc. Better than nothing, right?

Depends on the advice you give, I imagine.

For Mac users: as I unsderstand you can run a kind of Windows emulator on your Mac and that will enable Pitboss (though it will seriously decrease system perfomance). At least, that's what Furungy is doing, you can ask his advice.
Also, I would like to suggest myself as a mentor if anyone wants me. This kind of relationship worked well for me and Zanth in PB17, I'm eager to give this format another go.

I'm available as a partner (with occasional playing responsibilities optional) to a green / mentor combo.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Yay Welcome on board, Gagavai and Ruff! That means we have 7 mentors and 7 green teams (counting some of the greens having more than one member due to the Mac users).
Given that the map is designed for 7 teams, and I would hesitate to ask the map makers to start over unless they clearly state it's not a problem, I think we should go with 7 teams, even if the Mac users figure out a way to run their Civ client with a mod. I would definitely recommend looking it up though regardless of what the map makers say, as being able to log in to the game is a big help in learning stuff, and you can also help out with playing turns for your team if you can log in
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. - Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"
