Incoming copper on Andreyasn hill.

Sure, it's really slick. Worker was born with overflows, so starting with empty food bar (0/22) and no hammers in the till:
3 turns, riverside wheat (2/1/1): 6/22f, 9/30h into WB
1 turn, forested glh (1/2/0): 7/22f, 13/30h

Then, farm completed
3 turns wheat farm: 22f, 22/30h
Then we're flexible, and bronze working revelations change, but if I opt for the grass forest:
2 turns grass forest, 10/24f, 30h completion of work boat.
2 turns fish/wheat, 26/24f, 6/15h into warrior

Finally, salivating now, perfection is achieved:
3 turns forest/fish/wheat, 26/26f, 18/15h warrior done
Chops into another worker might derail things, but size four this fast is really great; fish nets, wheat farm, two riverside mines is 4t worker, 5t settler. That's pretty nice, and thanks to all that riverside makes some acceptable scratch as well.

China: Great techs, awful color.

Yeah, I fully expect the copper reveal to mess with my plans. I'd love for it to pop there, though...

I think we're all more or less on the same plan, with a turn or two difference in speed. Poor Wetbandit's start techs might have him with a bored worker, though...

Yeah, still not a lot to say, sorry.

But you're all here for something else. You know what happened. THIS HAPPENED. Also that is some jacked up tile there, flood plain gold. frown

Actually we're decently far away and the coastline more or less confirms I'm middleman buttmonkey of the map bordering everyone.

That's no way to think! Who is more angry, you for being in the middle, or everyone else for all having to border Genghis Khan playing Genghis Khan?

It does defy Khanception, doesn't it? mischief

So about that copper. Hum. Mess with my dotmap, will you?

Turn 50 is probably pushing it for putting that in pink...

Plains wine is scientifically proven to get you drunker, faster, and for longer than your run of the mill grassland hill swill. And regular grassland wine? That's for cooking only unless you're a complete alcoholic. I wouldn't even water the grass with that stuff, unless I was trying to kill the grass, that is. </grandpa>

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Hey, I like me some plains wine. Nothing astounding, but what can you say? Pindicator might disdain them for a while, though...not only does he have the most ridiculous single city spot I've seen in forever, but that also leads to stone...

Let the jury note grass actually is greener.

Pindicator (crapshooter, gambit)
as
Wang Kon (Financial, Protective)
of
Ottomen (Wheel, Agriculture, Janissary, Hamam)

It's roughly still accurate, albeit a touch more mellow of a vibe...

The talented if erratic Pindicator just picked himself a pick that yells “I wanna win”, which is understandable given the recent run of early exits and disappointing Big Games he's inhabited. Focus Pin is easily a top ten player on the forums, although he's still a man who loves a gambit overmuch. We've got a storied history, Pin and I...he's come out the better a few times, I've come out winning a few others.

Pindicator is playing here a really solid leader with a passingly fair civilization. Ottomans have been panned enough in my threads in the past; I think they're overrated selections in the BtS matches we've seen them in. But they're not a bad civ at all, really, just rather dull. Absent Exp the hannam won't see much impact outside of one or two cities but in Rbmod's tech environment I have a lot of respect for any of the musket UUs, so why not, particularly with free Drill 1/City Garrison 1? Wang Kon is a nerfed Pacal, so...still a very nice leader.

Financial is kind of a weird trait, now. As seen above, Turkey in this world is pretty well-rivered, so not a lot of chance for the trait to shine early, but a lot of coast results from Krill's Sadistic Snakeland roll. I like Financial coast, makes packing in a bunch of fishing villages work well, and the general biasing towards a cottage economy is certainly interesting with this new ballin' Free Speech. Cheap banks are worth a lot, eventually. So although Wang Kon's economic later trait lacks the umph of Organized, it will definitely be useful.

Early expansion booster Protective is probably my favorite RBmod trait, although I'd never go so far to call it “best”. Cheap granaries are just so incredibly game-altering, particularly when you're packing in hammer-hungry fisheries and cottage slaves. It's not like you can really skimp on making them your first build (okay, sometimes it's a monument but monument-first is basically conceding that you fail at dotmapping), so having them double-speed shortens the time horizon on everything else. Walls and the city garrison bit are nice but situational, but having Drill 1 on your shooters can come in handy surprisingly often, really.

Janissaries born with pinch access are great units, but I'm pretty sure Pin didn't pick for the mild synergy. Instead, we are probably looking first and foremost at Turkey for Agriculture/Wheel, as ever. And it's pretty darn handy here, of course, not only with the grain start but with the early Pottery unlock giving a resourceful Protective player a cheap granary option to add to the pile. Wang Kon of the Ottomans: Would not kick out of bed for the eating of crackers.

Well, I came from the south and retreated south, hoping that Pindicator would assume I'm south...no such luck, alas. So he knows the shape of the land in between us; I need to figure out a smart, secure, and above all polite border split. Winning looks like innroads on a single victim's pocket, not grinding wars in four different directions.

Timing of the mine/wheel/second worker pleases me, not gonna lie.
