wow 5! Flight ftw.

Definitely JET, point to that ASAP.

MODEL is more plane over flight, but with 5 agree likely to be one of them.

I'm going throw one out there - with that grid I immediately think SNOWMAN from the walking in the air song. Really famous here - is it famous where you guys are?

TIME does indeed fly, but can you have a flight of TIME?

flight for escape I agree with and SPRING from jail, and LOCK

I would say jet/model/snowman definitely. Perhaps then spring and lock. Think time is likely to be theirs...

I haven't heard of that song but I'm not familiar with lots of popular songs.

I was thinking of 'flight time/time of flight' which is the time the airplane takes off. But I agree it's risky because of the clue cooking.

Bold play! OK, here are my independent thoughts.

Ones I would pick:

JET: obvious
TIME: The time of our flight will be six hours and 40 minutes. Or Tempus Fugate - Time flies
SPRING: Once you spring from the ground, you take flight

Nothing else seems good, so let me see what I can eliminate

SNOWMAN: No connection
SPINE: No connection
MICROSCOPE: No connection
THUMB: No connection
ENGLAND: You could take a flight here, but I think this has been safely cleared by previous clues.

So what does that leave in the maybes:

MATCH: I have played in gaming tournaments where the various rounds were called flights, so there would be matches there.
CASINO: You could take a flight to a casino
MODEL: A model airplane would take flight
HORSESHOE: in a game of horseshoes, they take flight. But does OH know this game?
LOCK: The flight is on lock? Tenuous
AMBULANCE: some ambulances are helicopters. They take flight
ROCK: Again, something that can be thrown

MATCH, MODEL, and AMBULANCE are the most likely of those. If you put a gun to my head and made me choose, I would say MATCH and MODEL.

Now let me see what the others have said.

Muffin, please tell us about that song. I've never heard of it.

Auroarcher is free to point to JET if agreeing, and I think our next most popular are SPRING and TIME. Then we should reevaluate.

Right to Sunrise. And I lean Match as well, though we'll see what happens with blue team here. Gotta hope David can swing for the end zone if blue gets within one or two words (if they don't just miraculously get all five.)

(Sorry for interrupting blue team's discussion, carry on)

Also, I offer this hypothesis: Old Harry cluing 5 shows he needs to swing for the win this turn, because he can see our words and knows we might also finish in one turn. That lends credence to Match, that our best guess is on target so he has to hurry up.

I just skimmed OHs profile and he is from the UK too so I will push a little harder than I otherwise might have for this. It is a Christmas classic around here. It is called 'walking in air' and is sung by a falsetto voice of Aled (Davies possibly, although that might be because he is Welsh) it is from the snowman movie, and that song plays as this little boy and a snowman fly through the air. I think we actually have the book around here somewhere, but the enduring image is of a flying snowman and a young boy, and with seeing that list it could be a masterful way of linking snowman to other words. I would probably say snowman is more likely than time etc.

I'm also not great with pop music, but I would put this song on par with with mariah Carey all I want for xmas is you or the slade/wizzard classics (in the UK anyway)

Hopefully auroarrcher is from the UK and can back me up wink

Thanks for the help T-Hawk wink. Indeed, 5 might mean that red's words are easy to connect.

I don't have enough time to think through this 5 right now, I'll try to get back to it in couple of hours. I mean that's a lot to think about. But Jet must be one. The Snowman REM mentioned is familiar to me, I'm sure if it's familiar to US people? Harry is UK though, right? Anyway, in the story boy builds a snowman on his yard and when the night comes the snowman comes to life and the boy and the snowman fly together in the air (that's where the song walking in the air comes from). Anyway, this one is a must...

point to Jet.

Other than that there are a lot of candidates, I'll try to summarize my thoughts when I get back.
