If we reveal specific info like that to the Germans, will we provide WPC with the same info?
I am not sure I like this sharing of info. It does not fit well with being neutral.

Ask them specifically about the combat, though.

I'd also like confirmation on the ocean to the east of the gold mine they mention.

Yeah I'd definitely prefer not giving them info they didn't ask for at the very least. Neutrality is best here. If they come asking for info (unlikely), we can entertain that I suppose.

@Scooter: the messages look good to me.

I am wondering a bit about "being thankful" for not dealing with their dog soldiers. Is that conveying weakness? I would suggest removing that part. I do like how you handled the part about the NAP.

Yeah, the estimate of WPC's army size is probably best left as an ace up our sleeve.

I'm unsure about the mention about dealing with dog soldiers, just as Kalin. Perhaps you should mention our War Chariots instead? (No matter that we can't build them yet, but WPC doesn't know that.)

Otherwise they look mighty fine.

Shouldn't the first line of the German email be "Trade routes *are* a priority"?

Agreed with not revealing more info than is requested (WPC army composition).

I agree with this as well.

Delete because it is fluff:
Quote:I'm just thankful it's somebody else rather than us dealing with your dog soldiers smile.

Change because it seems somewhat too direct and almost prying:
Quote:How is the war going so far? Any combat yet?

To something more like "Can you do us a favor and keep us informed of your situation?" which softens the tone. Since we gave them NAP, they might be more willing to give info if we change the tone to indicate we gave them it as a favor and might want them to return it by reporting on the troops they see. After all, we didn't have to give htem NAP.

I like everything else:
Quote:Tatu,

First, apologies for being a bit slow to respond - I was out of town for the week. It seems like things have been quite eventful while I'm gone - I certainly didn't expect two neighbors to break into war! I wish you good luck in your fight.

We are often hesitant to freely sign NAPs, but we do understand your desire for security while involved in another war. Therefore, we're happy to sign the NAP until T100. Hopefully that will give you some breathing room.

Thanks,
scooter - Team RB

EDIT:

You know, if we spin this as a favor to the Germans, we might gain an kingmaker ally like Bananas in Poly. WPC and CFC will end up as our main rivals in the area so having a runt state like a surviving German Team as a thorn in their side will be useful. If we don't make friends with them they might join in on a dog pile against us but if we do, they might help us cripple one of the civs that attacked them. We just have to be careful not to be too heavily associated in their shenanigans because they have become the North Korea of Not Ending Turns. Just a long term idea.

Yep, no free info to germans.

Think we can get away with asking WPC to justify their war, by fishing for info with some variation of "what did the Germans do to you anyway to merit such a response, settle straight in your face and steal a city spot?". Basically have a leading question that implies WPC is in the right, and asking them to clarify.

Personally I don't think there's no fundamental reason to justify a war, you just do it tongue
