I want to be good with arena rogue and keep picking it but I'm not. I rarely have gotten past 5-6 wins with the class.
It feels like the biggest problems are scaling into the late game and mages. Deadly Poison and Assassin's Blade are great for controlling the board and transitioning into tempo wins but killing minions with damage doesn't scale late with no hero ability that keeps you alive (like warriors get). Also good arena mage decks are an issue. The problem isn't even Flamestrike, but that they're really good at dealing with early arena aggression (all those cards like Arcane Missiles + Frostbolt + Fireball + Mana Wyrm) and then Water Elemental totally messes me up. There isn't a good way to deal with it other than Assassinate which is a losing trade. Even the notorious Coin + Defias isn't that effective because they just ping the scrub and all it is is a 2/2 with a slight tempo advantage. Their hero power allows them to trade upwards in cost very often because they only need to do one less than your minion's damage and it doesn't slowly kill them doing this like it does for you. And then in the late game I'm crying when they start using their card draw (Arcane Intellect, pinging their own Acolyte of Pain). And since you tend to take so much damage trying to get an advantage, they can punish you for it with an endgame Fireball / Pyroblast finish!
I feel like Rogue vs Paladin, the other arena power class, is a much better matchup since your hero ability counters theirs very nicely. And Paladin's weakness seems to be fast and mana efficient decks that don't let them get a board presence for their buffs (Argent Protector, Blessing of Kings, etc.) You just need to effectively play around Consecrate and it feel like a pretty good match-up.
And I also do well vs Hunter decks (rounding out the three most popular classes) in Arena. They tend to play stuff with 1 health (Buzzard, Timber Wolf), and if you play to control the board while delivering steady damage over time with 1-2 minions out Rogue seems to do quite well since your hero ability gives board control and theirs doesn't. And Rogue decks can usually kill before the cumulative damage from hunters is a problem. You need to play around UtH obviously, be aware of positioning vs Explosive Shot, and can't put too much on the board vulnerable to Explosive Trap.
How do you think Rogue does against Shaman and Druid? I ask since in my matches, I have faced both more than Hunters (152 Shamans, 146 Druids, 126 Hunters)
Part of the problem with the Rogue vs. Mage matchup is that all controlling with your weapons tends to do is put you into Fireball etc kill range faster and unlike Warrior you have no armor up to escape it (Paladin has healing, using weapons too much hurts Shaman vs. Mage). I actually think Rogue is a really bad matchup against Hunter: Weapon based board control tends to just kill you faster vs. Hunter and they can out-steady you because they have superior removal and superior damage over time abilities. I've also found most of the Rogue "power" cards underwhelming, with the exception of Eviscerate and Assassinate. Deadly Poison consistantly dissapoints me.

Molach - should've been 7-drops instead of 4-drops :P How did the run go, or is it still in progress?

Well with 7 drops not middle finger...
It went 5-3. Seems it was weak to rogues. At least 5-win rogues.

Just finished a 11-3 arena run with a good mage deck. Lost the last game to a guy with a crazy priest deck.
My rewards were a pack, 200 gold, a rare card and Edwyn van Cleef (rogue legendary).
So, I went and opened the pack:
Notice that the panda is golden!
Two legendaries in one arena run? Nice!

Ended at rank 10 without trying hard (still haven't crafted anything), running primarily that medium range mage deck. I like the game.

Ichabod - isn't that panda an Ancient Brewmaster? I only see one legend there. Still nice of course, getting a playable mythic rare legendary is never bad

Edwin van Cleef + King Mukla = 2 legendaries.
(Gold panda is just nice because it is gold I guess).

Strange that they gave me a warning that season was over in 10 days ...but nothing the day before. I kind of forgot, ended up rank 11 ...was there a reward for getting 10 or better? I could have gone there, but played arena a lot more than ranked last week. Warlock swarm deck is just too good. Very cheap too, soulfirex2 and doomguard x2 being the core cards/finishers and just fill up with cheap minions. Almost makes me feel a bit bad defeating decks that actually require thought to put together and play.
Almost, winning is too satisfactory.
I don't mind much losing to warlock swarm decks myself, it is over quick at least. I did concede a game where I had a slight advantage (I think, depends on what opponent held in hand) against a freeze mage. It was just too boring/frustrating to play when my minions were in perma-frosted state. So that is a good deck, make opponent quit in disgust for a free win. (I know this is more than a little childish but having fun > highest possible rank for me.)

Ranked play is okay, by all means, but I like the craziness of Arena as well. Drafted a shaman deck with 5 fire elementals just now, 3 easy wins so far. And I had a great mage deck (helped me finish a hunter/mage daily quests....) that lost to a murloc deck. Yup, arena murloc deck, against all odds he had gotten a nice draft of murlocs and got too far ahead in the early game for me to catch up. I like the unpredictability in Arena. In ranked I meet a hunter and know he has 2 unleash the hounds. All mages (?) have 2 flamestrikes. And warlocks either have 4 giants or a host of murlocs or just 25 cheap swarming minions.

I hit rank 5 briefly but ended the season at rank 6. Unfortunately while my mage play has improved, I seem to be getting worse in the arena. 2-3 the last 2 runs, and a long ways from 150 gold to try again.
