serdoa got the colossus some 10 turns ago :P. If he didn't lands the pyramids, he must have researched calender or currency or something. he's had writing for awhile now, and he's surrounded by jungle apparently so doesnt need to worry about being attacked, i think... so

This is incorrect. The graphics do update.
thats what I thought - thanks Rego. so Azza is just doing a really shoddy job with his infastructure - thats great news.

yeah pyramids is still out there. I guess Serdoa researched Calender then and and is building MoM instead. oh well, we knew we weren't getting it when we switched to HBR.
the western micro is just about set. but I think we should whip the granary in the aeneid this turn, then work the cows. the odyssey can grow to size 3 in one turn working wheat + sheep (silver comes online next turn, so perfect timing). a whip unhappy wears off in 3 turns so we can go ahead and let it grow to size 4.

Hey team.
Thanks for good updates, and for posting that nice, friendly chat log - funny stuff. Probably not as funny at the time but.
Just wanted to inform that I'm useless when it comes to city spying or C&D.
Bit worried about Azza going for maths though - if he goes for construction he'll have a bit of an advantage until you can catch up. But during both rounds of fighting Azza split up his forces, so hopefully he does that again so you'll be able to destroy his army in detail.
Following with interest.

Played both turns. I think we grow Gilgamesh and finish the barracks next turn. I'm not as keen on hitting Azza again. But then I'm not sure we have a choice. Problem is I just don't think we can get enough army to really finish him off. We'll see. Bigger can go in and update

azza has made plenty of mistakes, so I'm hoping this continues (and we've made our own mistakes, so I don't mean that as a slam against him).
That said if he goes construction before currency we may have to follow suit . which will suck, we need currency.
not sure actually, currency will allow us to plant two more cities which will help us out produce him. which may be more useful than cats. Don't forget horse archers get flanking bonus over cats .

I don't see any benefit to attacking straight out of the gate. For azza either, actually. i was thinking more like 20 turns after peace expires. enough time to build up a horde of axes and horse archers. it all depends if he is able to keep up with us on the power charts.
I'm not positive, but I think because we have research visibility that he does not have graphs on us??? if so, that is awseome. we can hide our horde of horse archers just behind lines where he can't see them (1N or 1W of the odyssey) and maybe the same with most of our axes. if he doesnt have graphs we should be able to surprise him.
we'll see what is possible, but I would like to not attack until we have decisive force. raze the new crappy city, capture beowulf and tenacious D. either capture living end or get it in peace deal. if we can pull this off we won't need to settle crappy blocker city and w/ currency can start settling the east as fast as our economy will support.
this is ambitious, though, it all depends on if azza keeps up with us militarily. maybe we are forced to wait for cats and macemen\knights, I dunno. but I do think we should be able to hold the line with the production from the new city.

War pigs?
Math fab Mathonwy. It's a Welsh legend in which stolen pigs feature, and cause a war.
Trust the Welsh to be less epic in their war decs than us Irish.
ok, so math fab mathonwy is too many letters. lewwyn named the city 'war pig' which had to be changed <G>.
suggestions for shortening it to 15 letters? I have it tenantively "MathFabMathonwy"... would Fab Mathonwy be better than taking out the spaces?

Turn 92:
new city of maths:
I like the name, thanks for the idea Brian.
this will grow slowly until the borders expand (probably not worth taking off the iron to work a 3-0-1 farm). once borders expand and pigs are pastured it should grow quickly though - at size 4 it will have a 5 food excess (pigs, iron, 2 farms) and after that can start working mines until size 7. so we should avoid whipping when possible.
I thought for some reason the stables were cheaper than barracks (I hardly ever build stables, but just assumed since barracks help all military and stables only horse units). but they are 60, so we might as well build a barracks here. if we chop it quickly it will help exxpand the borders too (+1 culture for barracks in rbmod).
I think we should chop out a barracks and a stable, then settle our great general here. then we could produce horse archers with 6 experience, meaning shock or C2 right out the gate. This will probably be our long term military pump and heroic epic city, so will help us all game (knights, for instance). Lewwyn, I think, wants a super axeman. we haven't used the general yet, though. what do you think?
gilgamesh:
ok, growth here is painful and slow. my plan is to grow it to size 8, then switch to hammer/cottage configuration, giving grains to the iliad to help it grow. after we pump out 3 C1 axes and the odyssey is secure from invasion, and the iliad is at happy cap, we should switch back to grains and build another settler. horse/sheep site for sure, but we can build 2 more city spots in the west, one of which claims another gold source which will be very useful - it depends on if azza slacks on military and we can invade, or not.
the odyssey:
the aeneid whipped the granary and regrows to size 2 next turn. Here, a whip unhappy wears off in 2 turns. I actually think we should take advantage of the aeneid not needing the corn for a turn and work it over a mine to get some more food in the box here and speed up our growth to size 4. I may log in to switch that in a moment.
The aenid has 14 turns of unhappy. it will need to whip its half completed spear, overflow/finish the half completed archer, then whip walls. it may be smart to build walls in the odyssey as well when we finish the spear and chariot - might as well take advantage of our PRO trait. I also think the axe in the aeneid and at least one of the chariots should move over to the odyssey - with walls, spear, a CG2 archer and two CG1 archers, and a chariot or two for good measure the aeneid will be fine, and im more concerned about the odyssey anyway.
odysseus the scout:
more fucking jungle should we attack/raze the barb city to get experience and deny a free city to Serdoa, or fork to the right and keep going unmolested? serdoa built his 6th city, btw, and has caught up with us, azza, and brick.
demos at 100% science:
the 100GNP rival best is scary. its probably serdoa (huge spikes on graphs). could be commodore, though, if serdoa is number 2. oh well, everything will look better once gilgamesh grows to size 8.
btw, gilgamesh is #3 city in the world even at size 5.
GNP graph:
azza is building praets and horse archers, I guess, his power and MFG are still high. I think we'll be ok if we pump units out of math and gilgamesh, and build walls in our 2 border cities.

oh... if you noticed on the demo screen, someone has foreign trade routes :O
seems pretty quick to get alphabet. My guess is serdoa, although he does not have open borders with azza (probably spacetyrantxenu).

I say attack the city depending on its circumstances. Definitely scout it.
