logged in, took a peek, and logged back out. Didn't move anything except the exploring WB. TEAM is researching CS, and M3 is on Machinery. Civstats tells a tale of blood, the log says Gillette captured one city (although Trolls had 2 score decreases on Civstats ... maybe we don't get the notification if we didn't have sight on the city before capture?). Graphs don't yet tell a story of the conflict so we'll have to wait there.

You're putting up a good showing in your AW PBEM ... Are you paying attention to PB9 at all? This was my first multiplayer experience, and that is my second.

We would be happy to see the Trolls get dogpiled, but it's hard to get involved in a war where we don't border either party.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like Gillette is going to make too much progress against the Trolls; Trolls' power spike is impressive.

I chalk some of that up to luck; tons of stuff broke my way. Seems like we're in a similar situation; cottage cottage cottage, get a good economy, but terrible Crop/MFG. As for PB9, I'm watching, though not paying too much attention. Though you are striking fear in the hearts of you opponents .

As for the game at hand, Sale (accent mark over the e, pirate haven in Morocco courtesy of Wikipedia) was founded, Work Boat chopped. We get Education in two turns to start whipping Universities. TEAM's power is starting to increase. Let's see, it's T142 and NAP expires T160, so we should be safe. We should pick up Gunpowder soon, though.

We should probably whip a Lighthouse in Port Royal to start growing on Financial coast. Yes, not building it sooner could possibly classify as weed in of itself...

Well, we've been building settlers and repeatedly whipping down PR. And she isn't a spectacular location to begin with so I think we've been alright putting off the lighthouse. But I agree that it's about time for one now.

Education came in EOT. For a brief, glorious moment, we were #1 in GNP Granted, that was with Trolls in war mode. It'll be surprisingly hard to build Oxford; it requires 6 Universities and we only have 5 cities of reasonable size.

Next on the agenda: Gunpowder or Printing Press? I say Printing Press; we aren't planning on going to war, and even if we are, it's not for a while. Gunpowder is 4 turns, Printing Press (taking into account Machinery research) is about 5-6 turns away.

By the way, we should extend the NAP with M3 to... T170? If we're planning on attacking, it'll take at least until then.

Further on M3 NAP. With our GNP looking up (and constantly improving) we want to wait. Time is on our side.

Sent NAP proposal. We have received a message from Gillette:

Hi there Pirates,

Just thought I'd drop you a note to let you know that for the good of everyone else in this game (entirely altruistically!) we've decided to try and take on the Troll might.

I know it doesn't really affect you and you probably have plenty of stuff to get on with in Piromania, but if you'd like to contribute at all to the war effort we could really do with cash and wine.

Well... we only have one source of wine... and cash is needed for Printing Press/Gunpowder... but then again we don't think the Trolls will be wounded enough by this war as-is...

I don't think we should give them cash unless they make it very clear what they'll use it for, and/or a repayment method. Wines I think we can lend, we're going to be whipping out another round of Universities anyway, plus we're still swimming in happiness.

Yeah, offer wines next time your log in. But I agree that we need to be more reserved about dishing out gold.

More importantly, I'm concerned that Tasunke is going to attack:

I know we have an NAP until T160, but Tasunke said he wasn't planning on attacking Trolls, which only leaves us. Him requesting to not scout indicates he has something to hide, plus all the chopping on the border. I don't really trust this slip of paper...

First off, shoot off a message to Gillette seeing if they have heard from Tasunke:

We are fine with gifting you Wine; we're swimming in happiness at the moment, with Heredity Rule Quechuas everywhere. We're a bit wary of giving out cash. What exactly are you planning on using it for?

Has Tasunke shown any interest in dogpiling the Trolls?

Second, even though it's a bit early, see if Tasunke's willing to renew the NAP:

We propose an NAP extension until T180.

Third, pray for Gunpowder.

We will be happy to see the Trolls slowed down, but it doesn't seem like Gillette is making much progress. We'll see when the power graph starts updating with giant battles. Any word from Tasunke/TEAM?

Any objections? I'll probably send these off tomorrow morning, paranoia is killing me. Gunpowder or Machinery/Engineering? Probably Machinery/Engineering.
