I think I'd support swapping over to CoL followed by Monarchy, which I think we can get in 3t at max science (we should have just enough gold to do 3t of max science). Then next turn we revolt to HR and Caste and then .... profit?

I support gifting Yuri the archer on Inferno Island if/when we decide to re-up with OB with him.

Commodore took another city off of Cyneheard last turn so we no longer border the men in grey. We need some more Christian missionaries on the western island.

Wait a minute - I'm just the ded-lurker! Your name is first on the thread after all.... lol

Okay so anyways I was doing some pondering. First of all, what's our tech path after CoL / Monarchy? Here were some thoughts of techs

1) Aesthetics / Literature - this would be useful to get the National Epic in Church Lady and the Heroic Epic somewhere. Plus this would open up researching Paper.

2) Compass - cheap harbors but since we're already getting 3 and 4 coin routes, I'm not sure if they would give us an extra coin or not

3) Guilds - this is what we want soon, but it's more expensive, requiring Machinery and Feudalism first. It ties in to our workshop economy and we may be able to whip up a knight army (either literally or just figuratively) and attack someone (probably have to be Yuri)

Actually our economy is humming along pretty well, even currently (without any wealth or research builds, which now will be with 25% more extra goodness!)

I think we do probably want to head up to Literature before Guilds. I think NE in Church Lady makes sense (eventually we're moving the palace to More Cowbell, right?) With Pigs, Fish and double Clams, it can support 8 specialists at breakeven food.

Not sure where we want the Heroic Epic - if we're targeting an attack on Yuri at some point, maybe in Wayne's World or Hanukkah Song? Both of those will have some pretty good hammer potential once it gets all workshopped up.

For reference, here's what we will bulb in the current to near future

Prophet: Divine Right
Scientist: Education, Philosophy, Optics, Paper
Artist: Literature, Drama, Music
Merchant: Banking, Paper, Civil Service (intriguing....)
Engineer: Machinery, Engineering, Feudalism

Bulbing Machinery would be nice, but tough to get an Engineer out when we already have used our first 2 GPs.

Krill's power is still climbing quite a bit. Hopefully he continues to leave us alone and goes after Nakor.

We also need a market in CJ for our shrine.

And a lot more military. Dont forget that.

If we havent grabbed HBR yet i think that needs to be first. We can start BB on some military. After that i also like Literature -> Guilds. Not sure of Feud or Machinery first is the better path to Guilds - don't forget the possibility of serfdom and watermills/windmills after all

Compass will get our 3gpt routes to 4 but mayne not our 4 to 5. Need to look at the game to tell for certain but i'm reasonably certain of that.

What is this.... military.... you speak of? lol

So while I was out relaxing on the beach, riding the waves, and generally cavorting, I had an idea. I've been pondering about our new city of Schweddy Balls

Specifically, what can we do with those 8 forests. So I started thinking about Bluebell Fields. With IND, forge and OR, each forest is good for 60h on a wonder. Taj costs 700 hammers, so that would still leave us 220 hammers to go. It is unfortunate we don't have marble (or stone). If we were able to secure some marble, then the forests would be 90h each, meaning we could 1t the wonder.

Actually we should probably get some marble for building the Epics also. Our best bet is probably Commosan. Yuri also has marble, so he'd be option 2, and Krill and Nakor have it but they're probably in the running for Taj and would be unlikely to trade it to us. I couldn't find either of the Epics anywhere in Commo-ville, so it's certainly possible that he doesn't have Literature. That would mean we would go Philo->Nationalism in the mid-term, possibly bulbing Philo with a scientist out of Church Lady? It did cross my mind that we aren't totally out of the running for Liberalism?!?! smoke

Especially given this little tidbit I saw in the event log when I logged in just now

band

Remember too that Gunpowder is only one tech past Guilds and we have a decent (if not uber) UU that is draftable at Gunpowder (starts with Drill 2, has a first strike, and is immune to FSs). And Nationhood is a no cost civic and we don't have a great Bureaucracy capital.

The other option for those forests might be the University of Sankore (550h), which would fit in with our monk economy.

I have to run.

We are putting all our EPs on Krill and should get his research in ~2-3t.

I also checked out our trade routes and you're right that it will be a mixed bag. A "regular" trade route which is 1.0 * (150% peace 100% capital and 25% capital connection) that is now 3cpt will go to 4cpt, but anything that has already been bumped up to 4 will not go to 5.
