If we havent grabbed HBR yet i think that needs to be first. We can start BB on some military. After that i also like Literature -> Guilds. Not sure of Feud or Machinery first is the better path to Guilds - don't forget the possibility of serfdom and watermills/windmills after all
Compass will get our 3gpt routes to 4 but mayne not our 4 to 5. Need to look at the game to tell for certain but i'm reasonably certain of that.
What is this.... military.... you speak of?
So while I was out relaxing on the beach, riding the waves, and generally cavorting, I had an idea. I've been pondering about our new city of Schweddy Balls
Specifically, what can we do with those 8 forests. So I started thinking about
Bluebell Fields. With IND, forge and OR, each forest is good for 60h on a wonder. Taj costs 700 hammers, so that would still leave us 220 hammers to go. It is unfortunate we don't have marble (or stone). If we were able to secure some marble, then the forests would be 90h each, meaning we could 1t the wonder.
Actually we should probably get some marble for building the Epics also. Our best bet is probably Commosan. Yuri also has marble, so he'd be option 2, and Krill and Nakor have it but they're probably in the running for Taj and would be unlikely to trade it to us. I couldn't find either of the Epics anywhere in Commo-ville, so it's certainly possible that he doesn't have Literature. That would mean we would go Philo->Nationalism in the mid-term, possibly bulbing Philo with a scientist out of Church Lady? It did cross my mind that we aren't totally out of the running for Liberalism?!?!
Especially given this little tidbit I saw in the event log when I logged in just now
Remember too that Gunpowder is only one tech past Guilds and we have a decent (if not uber) UU that is draftable at Gunpowder (starts with Drill 2, has a first strike, and is immune to FSs). And Nationhood is a no cost civic and we don't have a great Bureaucracy capital.
The other option for those forests might be the University of Sankore (550h), which would fit in with our monk economy.
