Fall From Heaven IV planning thread

AHHH ok I understand. Thank you.

I only have one problem with the game. I'll only be able to start playing on january 10th, next monday. Hope that's not a very big one.

Another thing. I bought Civ IV with steam and it seems to make the mods work in a very strange way. I'm not very good with computers, so there may be some technical problems that I'm still unaware of.

If we play with no settlers + barb world, I guess we should ban the Clan of Embers, since they'll have a big advantage with Rantine (well, they won't be able to get more cities until Rantine arrives, but that's not that big of a problem, IMO).

I'm fine with all options that you decide to check. I'll add up living world, since I like events!

@Brian Shanahan:

Thanks for the support, Brian!

I've been reading PBs PBEM thread for quite some time now and it's awesome. It inspired me to sign up for this game heart

If you want to help playing the turns, I'd be very happy!

I'm not in this game so I don't have a vote, but I'm just going to say that there's a particular thing I can think of that some of these settings will make far too good. I would seriously consider banning it.

I'm not being too specific in case I spoil someone's fun, but I'll happily let the cat out of the bag if requested.

I'm fine with 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 but unsure about no settlers. Player friction over land is a major part of the game and I fear the game could be pretty bland if we're restricted to 1-2 cities.

I would also add the Living World option and no Acheron (or Acheron on a different landmass), Orthus + Duin should be on.

Difficulty wise, Emperor should suffice, possibly lower if we're going to be limited on cities.

One thing I considered was making my spoiler thread and letting lurkers pick one leader civ combination from a list

maybe an option intead of no settlers you chose that no settlers are allowed outside borders? i never played the mod but it sounds like what i think you are looking for. it would force all the cities to be either crammed together or set up late after 3 or 4 rings get opened up

I'm not sure what decision we came to regarding starting age, I remember hearing some discussion about it, but i'm going to have to say that I really don't want anything else than an ancient age start.

Reason for that is that I have only started with standard starting age until now, and I just tried classical and I was totally and completely at a loss for what to do, so if we're going to do anything other than a standard starting age i'm afraid i'm going to have to withdraw.

You can always play some of the FfH scenarios beforehand, a few of them start an age or two later.

Personally I'm fine either way

Something that's come up in the PBEM 3 thread is the question of what to do about Basium/Hyborem if we allow them; especially what's acceptable in terms of AI vs human control, and spoiler knowledge on the part of the human.

Do any of you have an interest in possibly being summoned to our game to play one of these two or the summoning civ? Upsides would be playing a powerful civ with unique mechanics without having to summon them first. And getting to skip the slow 'moved a scout and hit enter' portion of the game. Downsides - hard to predict when you'd start, and we might want to impose spoiler restrictions which would prevent you from watching our game.

We haven't come to consensus that this is the option we want, but I figure I should first check if it's even workable; if no one's interested, then we'll have to go with AI control or compact enforced.

I'd be willing to do that for your game, if you want a human, and to abide by whatever spoiler restrictions you want to place on Hyborem and Basium. Or even be one of a few candidates, who could negotiate with the summoning civ for terms (more relevant with Hyborem). Of course, that willingness is entirely dependent on you guys, if you allow the angels and demons, and if you choose to summon them once allowed.
