Kylearan Wrote:By my count, I should come out one point ahead of T-hawk before final ruble scoring. I'll get another point for having >10 rubles, so unless T-hawk has more than 20 rubles in the end, I think I got this.
Well, you may have noticed that I didn't use the pubs much, so I probably don't have very many rubles at all.
I wasn't expecting so many nobles either, since I had poor position on nobles most of the game. So I wasn't prepared for them, and certainly did not expect the second pub. I had been getting low money (only 5 workers!) and high points most of the game - I played building upgrades of 16-2-4 and 19-2-5 in rounds two and three. My big mistake was in the round four upgrade phase. I bought the 16 cost 4 VP noble upgrade (Patriarch) on top of a 12 cost 4 ruble noble (Secretary) because I didn't have any hand room - which cost me too much money in the end and missed out on a worker too.
That all said, I thought I had figured that I was ahead and calculated my pub usage on that. Didn't count on you picking up the Mistress, though of course it was known that she was still in the deck.

Our second game of St. Petersburg is over. Here are the final scores:
Kylearan: 102
T-hawk: 100
DavidCorperial: 71
sooooo: 67
Thanks all for the game!
Is there any interest in playing another game on yucata.de? I'm open to more or less any game.
To those of you who have played Stone Age already: Would you recommend it?

I wouldn't, but then again i lost so badly my vote shouldn't be counted =P. Honestly though, Stone Age is more about the luck of the dice, rather then strategic thinking.
I wouldn't mind playing Egizia though.

Well played Kylearan and T-Hawk. Clearly David and I have some way to catch up .
I'm currently playing 12 games at yucata.de and I'm fine with joining in any number of RB games.
I'm currently playing, or have played:
St Petersburg
Stone Age
Finca
The Speicherstadt
Thurn and Taxis
Carcassonne
Egizia
Roll through the ages
I think that Kylearan and T-Hawk would enjoy The Speicherstadt. It has the same feeling as St Petersburg of evaluating which cards to buy with a constant shortage of money.
Stone Age I've played >30 times and I'm pretty convinced that the dice rolling has a very negligible effect.
Finca is quite simple to pick up but I'm finding it difficult to understand strategy. It involves a rondel (circular track) in which you make a move and collect fruit depending on what colour you land on. You move the number of spaces equal to the number of pawns on your start tile, and collect the number of fruit equal to the number of pawns on the destination tile. So the key is to predict what other people are going to do on their turns.
Thurn and Taxis is a route building game which is good for 2 players. It doesn't have much interaction though, so I don't think it's great with more than 2.
Carcassonne is a classic tile laying game. You draw a tile, place it and then you have the option of playing a meeple (guy) on one of the locations of the tile. You score points and get your meeple back when a forest or river is finished, and also at the end of the game.
Amelia: I'd happily play Egizia with you again.
I think whatever we decide to play, that we should start another game of St Petersburg. I'm determined to catch up with Kylearan and T-Hawk!

I definitely would like to play another game of whatever with you guys, one thing I will note is that I forgot all about the points earned by having different nobles because otherwise, I was quite close to winning as well.

I own the game and have played it multiple times with 3-4 players, and it's actually quite nice IMHO. Lighter than St. Petersburg for sure, but all the different kinds of races in the game and the fact that you have to watch what cards your opponents take and try to deduce what their strategy is makes it fun. In fact I'm not sure I would like it to play with only 2 players, as there won't be as much competition on the board, but I haven't tried that yet.

Classic indeed! I've played the game a lot, with all kinds of expansions (there are *lots* of expansions and variations out there...). Very simple rules, and while it seems a lot of luck is involved which card you draw, in fact it's more skill than luck who decides who wins the game.
I'll have to read through some of the rules of the games I don't know yet, starting probably with Stone Age and Speicherstadt. But in the end I'll play any of the games if someone has a specific suggestion.

Sure, I'm in.

I'm up for either St Petersburg, Egizia, or Carcassone actually. Or probably up for all 3 =)
Maybe Thurns and Taxis as well.

Ok, we can do St. Pete yet again. If we want to switch up the player order but stay close to time zone flow, I would suggest sooooo - Kylearan - T-hawk - DavidCorperial. sooooo, that means you get to set up the invite.

Never heard of it, but I can trust that recommendation. I'll do it.

Yes, sorry I should have mentioned that. Though I don't think it should make any difference the order you accept the invitation?
Current games being set up:
The Speicherstadt: Me, T-Hawk and Kylearan. Room for 1 or 2 more here and it's a better game with 4 or 5 than it is with 3.
Stone Age: Kylearan, me. Sunrise mentioned he was interested before. This is fine with 2-4.
Egizia: Amelia, me. Better game with 3 or 4.
Carcassonne: Amelia, me, Kylearan (?). Fine with 2-5.
Thurn and Taxis: Amelia, me, Kylearan (?)
