[Spoilers] Pericles of the Graeco-Mayans

Holy city chance is based on 1) large bias away from the capital; 2) fewer religions in a city gains priority; 3) larger city gains priority. A score is added up for those factors for each city, then a random number added to each city's score, and the highest city wins.

Culture does not matter.

T-Hawk already pointed out the mechanics of it. Yet, even knowing the mechanics, there is still a large dose of luck involved. Still, you can try to skew the odds a little by whipping a city hard that you don't want it in just before you found the religion.

I guess I could have whipped it, however the city was already on something like 23 turns whip unhappiness (on normal speed), so that was generally out of question.

Finally got my Internet connection back up! Thanks for playing the turns for me, STM. And my apologies for the long silence.

No problem, glad to hear your back. Not much really happened in my turns (and I really didn't play all that many as the game was quite slow for most of my time). I'd recommend checking the in-game events log, and that's about it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll hold off spoiling myself for a couple days in case something comes up in transition, but then will probably glance around a bit as playing has piqued my interest a bit in seeing the progression of the game.

Quote:Hi Sylon,

A couple of quick questions,

1) were there any agreements as to what wonders may or not be built?

2) where can I find the information regarding current NAP's?

3) I love the notes you've made on the map! How did you do that?

Thanks,

-Nate

1) Nope. It is however worth noting that Pegasus is most likely building the Hanging Gardens. He has 2 Hammams, one in his capital, and has Stone hooked up, so that's a no-brainer.

2) I'll organise it by player and add some comments on diplo status as well.

NAP Status:

Sylon to Ruff Wrote:Our NAP renews itself automatically every 10 turns, with map trades once paper comes in every ten turns as well. It has a cooldown phase of 20 turns. I've quoted the relevant conversation below, though take note that the info on map trades is outdated.

Of course, it would be a simple thing to claim that there is no NAP between us, if Mackoti or Pegasus come asking.

ruff_hi Wrote:NAP expires at Turn X

X-20: Automatic offer to extend NAP 10 turns (both sides must agree to actually extend NAP)
X-15: All units must leave each other's lands
X-10: Borders closed
X-5: Trade deals canceled
X: NAP expires

The NAP comes with automatic open borders as well as automatic map trade (once paper is researched) with map trade renewals each 5 turns.

Further, the NAP assumes that you will not assist other's aggressive acts towards the other party such as specific map knowledge (pointing out choke points), gifting units, each other's unit composition and location and other acts that the other party might object too (this is a bit general in nature but hopefully you understand what I mean).

Diplo Status: Ruff is a staunch ally, as the above agreement reveals. We have worked together quite closely in the past, even going so far as to trade settlers and swap tech info with each other. By the way, Ruff owes us 130 hammers in the form of 2 Buddhist missionaries and 1 catapult.

Kodii

NAP Status: We have none! Apparently it ran out on Turn 100 and neither of us noticed until now.

Diplo Status: Kodii is our second ally, and we have been working together quite closely as well. Our respective geographical positions make it possible to help each other, while making conquering each other utterly implausible thanks to the high maintenance costs on this map.

Pegasus

NAP Status: We have none. Being on opposite sides of the world, this is not a problem, but leaves us flexible to aid Kodii if necessary.

Diplo Status: We haven't had much contact, but what contact we have had was quite pleasant. Our respective locations mean we have little to do with each other, however. That might change in the future.

Mackoti

NAP Status: Expires on Turn 125

Diplo Status: The ENEMY. His aggressive cultural moves, lack of diplomatic tact, and furthermore his extremely aggressive move of his capital to our common border (!!) means hostilities will commence as soon as our NAP ends. By virtue of the utter lack of balance on this map, he is first in all stats by a huge margin. A coalition has formed against him, consisting of Ruff, Kodii and ourselves. I'll forward the diplo messages to you in a moment.

Note that you'll have to zoom out until you get to globe view first.

P.S. Regarding the battle plans, you might want to scrap the three-way galley flank attack. I'm not quite sure if the Greek empire can produce so many troops+galleys in such a short time. Then again, if you whipped really hard...

And I would like to apologise for unceremoniously dumping you in the thick of so many events, and thank you sincerely for replacing me. Good luck. I'll still be around should anything pop up, so feel free to ask anytime.
