So am I playing incredibly stupidly in Carcassone? First I wasted a hut on a river that has only two sections and no fish, not realizing the distinction between huts and meeples. Then I put a hunter on a field with two animals, but I think those are tigers and don't score points? The animal pictures are very far from clear on this site.

Well, they are at least salvagable. Your river still has two open ends - you can put lakes onto them and also join them up to other river systems. Your 3-tiger meadow you can salvage by putting elephants or mooses into it. There is also one bonus tile that is a fire, that means you scare away all tigers. You get a bonus tile every time you finish a forest with gold in it.

Urgh, i forgot the rule that you can only place houses in one province, or a house in each province. (Thurns & Taxis). No wonder i thought something was wrong.

Ugh, it's only round 1 in this game of St Pete and I feel like I've lost already. I expected another chance to see if I would get to pick up a blue card to leave me a shot at an aristocrat but twas not to be and now I'm the only one without one! What an unforgiving game.

What's up with that big forest in the lower left? It's got a ton of gold - except that there's three of us in it, so hardly any relative gain to be had there. Need a way to get a second meeple connected to that forest, somehow...
