Werewolf 2 Lurker Thread: Spoilers!

Sandover Wrote:Wolf conversation from day 1. Two villagers are mentioned but no wolf.

I'm going to try my best to play this game as if I were a villager, which means being my usual highly confrontative and rather stubborn self.

Damn that Roland - he's making the right conclusion for all the wrong reasons! Worst part is he'd look like a genious if I were to get lynched.

I've done my best to give Roland that genious status once I go down. Lets hope <name removed> was right about him being nuts. smile

PM's sent to me by someone innocent.

Grats on the wolf kill.

It was a good fight. Really had you going there at end. smile

haha it's true, we just got completely lucky by getting you on day 1. I really did think for a while that there was an elaborate wolf plot to have you and MJW lead the charge against Rowain, sacrificing a wolf to gain credibility for you two. But I guess the wolves didn't really have any special plans on day 1, right? At least, not at first...

I'm worried that Roland is getting a little too into this game. He's working so hard, and putting way too much time into it. And he gets a little too fired up when he thinks he knows someone is guilty. So now he's doing this ridiculous gambit on day 3 and I have no idea what he was thinking.

edit: oh ok, I guess he's coming clean now. That's probably for the best.

Also, wtf? There's SEVEN werewolves! yikes . If the village messes up 4 times, they're dead, even with a baner save. The funniest thing about that is that MJW has been PMing me and Kyan every day saying that there's a secret "godfather" role (he suspects Roland). Me and Kyan have just been ignoring him. I can't believe he was actually right about thatlol.

But I don't understand why Selrahc wanted to be mayor, then. They should made the "possessed" person run for mayor. That would have been perfect!

On a side not, it's surprising how much the mayor role has changed this game. It was supposed to be just a way to resolve ties, but it really adds a whole new element. Gives everybody something to talk about on day 1, at least. I like it. (I was hoping to get elected mayor so that the seer would scan me and I could put him in touch with the other mason, even if it killed me).

Oh and I got this really funny pm from MJW on day one:

Quote:But all this is not the real point of this e-mail I got a PM from Kyan telling me it might be a good idea to protect the mayor. I said that I had to make a hard choice and he used the phase "hehe". All this made me suspect that he was a werewolf. So I made that silly post and he reacted to it to try and look like a villagar. A real villagar like you would not react to a post like that . I PMed him about it and he sent an even more wolfish PM. using phases like "your're the only one who I can trust" and "I'll stop people from lyching you". So I think he is a wolf.

I have come up with a plan to take him down. I will PM him saying that I'll protect the new mayor giving the wolves the perfect opening to take me down. I will of course protect myself. However, in order to tell the wolves that I will not be protecting myself I have to come up with a cover story. I will tell Kyan that you are a Mason that contacted me and that I am telling him right now because I might die because I am protecting the mayor. The wolfs in their hearts won't believe it but will still try and kill me because it risking a single werewolf to kill the banner which is at least the second most important role.

He wanted to straight up tell the wolves that I was a mason! He thought that was a clever lie, but still banghead. And I couldn't tell him that I was a mason because I didn't trust him at all at that time (part of the reason I thought he might be working together with Sandover). Luckily it worked out quite well for us, putting me in touch with Kyan.

luddite Wrote:lol, how's that list going for you so far?

I know rolleye

It looks like I missed half of the game, being outside the "trusted network" lol

If I ever participate to a similar game, it has to come with a rule "no PM's between players (except wolves)" smile

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.

Maybe we could even go so far as to ban pms completely, so the werewolves would have to talk in the game thread also.

What strikes me about this game is that it is so dominated by the power roles. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to be, and WW1 was a bit of an exception in that our seer got killed right away, but I think WW1 was more fun as a result.

Combined with the lack of restrictions on out-of-thread communication, the whole thing becomes more of an exercise in network building and trusting the right people, than an exercise in deduction and deception. In particular, it must be kind of unfun to play as a wolf when the villagers have two seers and are bound to find you very fast no matter how devious you are.

I'd play in another game, but only if it severely limited out-of-thread communication. Also, less is more in my mind, when it comes to power roles, and I'd rather have several villagers with minor powers than a few overpowered ones.

In terms of trying out new variants; if we want to try out some new combination of roles it is straightforward to do a simulation to see if it's roughly balanced. Just assume everybody takes random night and day actions and simulate a bunch of games to see the distribution of outcomes. I'm a programmer so I can volunteer to do that.

7 wolves (two with an extra power), and 5 village power roles, leaving just 9 regular villagers. That does seem a bit much. Of course, it changes things when the seer doesn't do anything...

Just had the same thought. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't enjoy playing this game much if I was still alive and left out of whatever networking is going on. Being a wolf under those circumstances seems more like a chore than anything else.

Yeah, this game reminds me too much of Pitboss 3, with the constant secret diplomacy dominating the entire game and certain players getting way too into it.

I was hoping that the possesed person would be able to get scanned and go screw one of the seers over.
