Werewolf 2 Lurker Thread: Spoilers!

MJW (ya that one) Wrote:3. The village has to lych scooter. The seer claim is BS. They should have lyched him today.

Scooter never claimed to be the seer, Roland made that up.

Your memory is likely better than mine. What a strange lie. I would vote Roland to pressure him into telling why he lied. The only reason I could think of is that was some weird wolf plot but it just might be a smoke moment.

He explained it already. If he had told that uberfish claimed to be a seer, no one would have bought it. So he lied.

I think he is a villager with a lot of smoke moments lol

If he is then the wolves definitely won't eat him as he's doing their job for them

I am surprised there is talk of a WW3 given the huge levels of anger and emotion from this one. The change from WW1 is bizarre to me

My favorite way to do this is to give the seer a turn before day 1.

I think everybody has a good handle on what went wrong in WW2. Too many power roles, and a moderator that was less than sharp on several situations. I can see the desire to run another game cleanly and learn from our mistakes.

My take is that what went wrong more due to how villagers have acted than anything else. I haven't played in games with PM's but I have played in both vanilla games and in more complicated games with several power roles and both worked reasonably well. Even if multiple power roles exist, they aren't completely reliable. There's no reason to abandon the general principle that villagers should try to foster open and clear communication and not intentionally act suspicious.

In this game there is a supposed trusted network of villagers, but their spokesperson seems to needlessly lie and generally behave irrationally. For example, in the uberfish case I think there were two logical options: vote uberfish immediately because he's likely a wolf, or wait and either get a 100% kill on uberfish or an extra seer action. I can respect either of those. Believing PM's from uberfish and claiming someone else to be a seer is just crazy. If I was a plain villager in this game I would give up trying to figure anything out in the short term because of all the strange things my allies were doing.

Fire & Ice made a mistake with the Devil and could have handled the mayor roll change cleaner but I don't think that's responsible for all the fallout. MJW's actions were worth a role block or mod kill, and since he's dead the rest of the villagers know all they need to know about what happened. I've played in a game with the owl power under a different name, and it was intended to be ambiguous. We figured it out and in this case I bet a simple PM to the moderator for clarification would have explained it. It doesn't seem to me like the rules were changed mid game.

With the power roles dead and the Kyan/Roland bloc broken up, hopefully the regular villagers feel more involved in the game again.

I tend to agree that all the deception from the village side has been counterproductive, it's failed to catch any wolves and only made villagers look suspicious.

I can tell from Uberfisher's Roland is a villager. Mr. NG would not be able to come up with the Godfather Role from out of nowhere and I think he tried to tell the wolves about it in the PM.

A reasonable Role-block would be useless. I did not need my powers for the first two nights because the wolves pulled out unblockable random.orgs. He did not mod-kill me because he would be flamed in the thread. lol

Kyan, the owl role had been leaked earlyer.

I don't blame Fire&Ice in a vacuum, but Fire&Ice+MJW didn't go too well.

And, nothing I've seen has made me thing secret roles are fun. At all.

@Selrahc - As a veteran, I have two ideas I'd like to know your opinion of.

1) A real-time game played via Teamspeak, details TBD (Gchat PMs but only in real-time allowed?)

2) A conventional game with minimal power roles but played as (secret) pairs. Basically I hate in the early game not having a trusted person to talk to. In this setup the wolves would all know each other as usual, but each villager would be paired with one other villager by the admin and know they were trustworthy. The pairs would not be public.
