Quote:Hi Mackoti and Ioan!

I thought I would drop you a note to see how your scouting of the south was going - did you find a land bridge?

As agreed, let me share with you what our scout found to the SW....

nothing!!! :-) There are 3 dyes but no land bridge.

Let us know if you find anything to your south.

Also, we were wondering if you might do us a favor - can you email any of the civs that you have met, asking them if they have a scout, warrior or other unit near the place where we met? We could send one of our units to meet them if that was the case

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!

Aha! A breakthrough in C&D!

I was having trouble figuring out the populations. I was on T44 and saw this little tango

Score increases (mid-turn) are typically city plants, and mid turn score decreases are whips. So I had plako with his 3rd city and WarriorKnight whipping from size 4->2

But wait! You'll notice that WK was not logged in at the time (which makes it hard to whip!). So plako captured (and kept!) a city from WarriorKnight. You can tell he kept it because otherwise there would be a score decrease for plako. Of course you lurkers already knew that but it's nice to figure some things out. This is the first real confirmation we've had of their war (other than rumormongering).

But wait! There's more! Plako actually gained 2 pop (and WK lost 2 pop). So that means it must have been a peace deal of some sort (otherwise plako would have only gotten 1 point)

So it went like this:

WK had a size 4 capital and a size 1 2nd city. 2nd city grew to size 2 on T44 (2240 BC). He gave it to plako (WK loses 2 pop, plako gains 2 pop). WK then founds another city at the end of the turn.

Man I don't know why that was so hard to get all the population numbers to match up but I've got it now (as of the start of T46). Plako does indeed have 4 cities!

Dedicated lurker asking what the benifits of and early war, peace treaty, what ever they are doing, might have for them, and how you intend weaken what they would gain over you?

Well it's kind of hard to know what is going on, when we haven't met either of the other teams!!! lol

So a few noodlings

1) They maybe are very close

2) One of them declared on the other very early on

3) One or both of them settled aggressively on the other

4) This war could have certainly contributed to WarlordDrs booting out of the game - who knows

5) So WK wanted peace, and was willing to give up a city (assumedly near plako's lands)

But really I'm just making stuff up - and without paying attention to CivStats we wouldn't even know THAT much

Do you have contact with plako? Something is strange with that civ they got strange score increes. And other go down same score,do you think is a war already in the world?Ye and if plako got a city from the war thats not good at all.

I dont if you and Ioan discused something about NAP, if not i propose 1 to turn 100.

I replied

Quote:Okay - let me know what you find down there and I will do the same for our scouting

We have not met plako - we've only met you so far. I think that plako and WarriorKnight were at war and that WarriorKnight gave plako a city for peace - plako now has 4 cities by my count!!!

I will talk to sunrise about the NAP and get back to you

But you're pretty good at making stuff up... The warlord thread updates were plausible enough in the absence of other information.

Hey, super, we replace a civ (still nothing resembling specifics as to why...) and the new player gifts a city away what, two turns later? bang banghead huh cry duh

Post venting I'll make a separate post, regoarrarr style except his only venting was that one "drop dead" thread post...

Re: a NAP, I'm fine with one if there's a no scouting+no settling up on us rule. Really those are the only reasons I can see to DOW. It isn't feasible to run Impis 30 tiles to raise some cities when we have enough land to get us to 1,000AD.

Okay mackoti caught me in game and after he told me how he wanted to play this game on my team because of how awesome I am (no, really lol), we agreed on a NAP with no scouting or settling up clauses. At least I *think* we did. I'll follow up on that

He also asked if we were going for TGL. I said that we had considered it. He pulled out some C&D saying that they were 1 beaker short of Sailing but when they met us they got it (from the known-civs bonus).

I felt I couldn't pull off the lie so I said that yes we had Sailing and had thought about going for TGL

He said they weren't going for it, so there's that at least. He referenced a PBEM game he's in where he built TGL and everyone is closing borders with him, which is of course something we'll have to address down the road.

In actual TGL news, we've swapped on to it and have it due in 13 now (will be 10 with chops)

Quote:I wanted to follow up on my conversation in-game with Mackoti. I am not sure we "officially" signed the NAP to turn 100, with a no scouting clause and a no settling close to the other civ. From a no scouting perspective, from our lands we define that as no further west than the jungle rice tile a few tiles north of where your scout is, and no further north than the narrow land bridge you came west on (where you met us). If you'd like to attach a similar clause for your lands just let us know.

Let us know if you find that acceptable
