Turn flipped and with dropbox goodness!
Colerain founded. Writing due in 2 no matter what, so I dropped down to collect gold for a turn.
I have had a few interesting diplo chats with folks that I haven't pasted in here. Most important one was from plako, which I will post in here next post

But before I do that - apparently nakor got a scout past our defenses
Which is annoying but what can you do...

Chat with plako. The email from luddite referenced in the first line was one that plako was passing on to us in an attempt to try and get us to meet luddite.
Quote:regoarrarr: uh?
does luddite's reply make sense to you?
plako: yeah. Lot more than the 1st one
If you continue to NW, you'll end up 1st close to lake
if you go west from it there is a jungle north from there
regoarrarr: oh ok
i don't have a scout
do i?
plako: But he is indeed way further than I thought
regoarrarr: i thought that unit was a warrior
plako: I suspect close to his home turf
I don't know which one. I use scout liberally
regoarrarr: right - seems to make sense
ok
plako: *word scout
regoarrarr: right
ok - can you reply back to him that we'll be heading that way
plako: I'll do that. btw. Youäll eventually find also Lord Parkins land from there
He is apparently north from me
behind the jungle
I suspect he is your closest neighbor in th west, but no land connection
other than the one you're now
regoarrarr: yes
that's what he (lp) said
but we're across an ocena
like you said
but in your reply to luddite mention that we have a warrior there not a scout
so it will take longer
but we'll head that way
plako: I did that already in my previosu message when I did see your unit
I also sent him already one liner saying you're coming
regoarrarr: ok
plako: Because of long distance maybe ~half way point I could do another message exchange. Just ask
regoarrarr: yeah sounds good
and don't give me any of that "fluff" garbage about your 97 GNP
;-)
plako: lol. I had to try something for fun although I know I can't fool you
regoarrarr: you can't be teching something with 2 pre-reqs i wouldn't think
you already have ah, pottery and writing
unless you're on priesthood which i doubt
plako: sry can't comment
regoarrarr: oh come on
plako: unless you say what you're teching
regoarrarr: writing
at 100%
with 2 pre-reqs
and we have GLH
and our GNP is 2nd at 62
you're 50% ahead of us
i know you're creative but cmon!
you're killing us
plako: Well I built couple of libraries to run specialists
regoarrarr: that's true
plako: Not much cottageable land
so I need something toconvert food and hammers to science
Since you told I'm researching Masonry
Pyramids is great in this setup
regoarrarr: ah so it is double pre-req
plako: So I'll try to land it unless Luddite takes it with Engineer
regoarrarr: cool
i won't tell anyone
plako: thx
regoarrarr: and we won't be going for mids
we got our wonder out of the way already ;-)
plako: It is hugely expensive, but there is lot of hammers
just need to find a way to convert them to somtehing
better
wish there would be stone
you probably haven't seen it?
btw. Last turn I was researching Mystisicm
SoGNP is a bit better this turn
regoarrarr: have not seen stone or marble
tl;dr version - plako is teching Masonry and building the Pyramids.

I see you are rocking the Cincinnati theme.
I request a Corryville or Clifton for my first 'hood (literally) and Blue Ash or Kenwood for my last place of residence.

Ah you missed Blue Ash in PB1. That one was Municipalities of Hamilton County. This one is major roads of the Cincinnati area, so that rules out Corryville.
Blue Ash and Clifton might qualify but probably not - but Kenwood will probably make it - see post #320 for the draft of the list of city names.
If I have another game, I might do neighborhoods of the actual City of Cincinnati which would include Corryville and Clifton (and others, of course)

Well, if you are doing roads, you already have Montgomery, and my last place was just off Montgomery in Kenwood/Madeira.
But my first place was on MLK by University Hospital (ghetto!). I see you have Vine. Vine was super close. I would hit that Corryville Kroger, and also Bogarts, which was across the street from that weird bar/laundromat. There was a Mediterranean grocery there on short Vine that had the best gyro ever.

More Cincinnati spam: I've been meaning to come up with a list of roads, but haven't had time yet. Meanwhile, the thread has moved on relentlessly .
My initial thought for another road name: Central Parkway. Rather obviously a street name, but it is a major road now and was *the* major artery back when it consisted of water instead of asphalt ( Wikipedia link). Also, maybe Red Bank Road (although I've seen that marked as Red Bank Expressway on some maps).

Yeah Red Bank is good. There actually is a Red Bank road and a Red Bank Expressway. The road existed first and then they built the expressway later (they connect in a few places). I like Central Parkway too - we can make that one of our "canal" cities

As of yet we don't have a trade route to Mackoti yet, but it is something we have talked about and will probably be realized in the near future. Whether that will come through sailing or a road connection is as yet unclear though.
Pleasant dreams,

Okay Turn 75 played. I wanted to do some MM at Vine here. Do we go max growth to get to size 6, and then triple whip the settler?
Or do we start a settler now, and whip it when we get to 40 hammers (double whippable)
Scenario 1:
75: 14/30, 18/30 in WB, 7fpt, 5hpt
76: 21/30, 23/30
77: 28/30, 28/30
78: 20/32, 3/100
79: 20/32, 19/100, triple whip, 109/100, 13h
80: 20/24, 22h overflow
Scenario 2:
75: 0/100
76: 16/100
77: 32/100
78: 48/100, double whip to 108/100, work 2 deer and PHM, 13h
79: 21h overflow, Vine at size 3, 14/24, 18/30 in the workboat, work deers and grass cottage, 7fpt, 5hpt
80: WB complete, 14h overflow, 21/24
So Scenario 2 gains 1 food, a settler out 1 turn earlier, but loses some hammers and has the workboat (that we don't really need right now but I just built because we don't really need a 9th warrior and we will need a WB eventually for our clams city east of Reading). So I'm going Scenario 2 (settler now)
